Has FMDR ever posted pics of MR's trucks asking people if they saw them 11/18 or 19? I can't remember them doing that, but I don't check the page nearly as often as I used to.

Of course not! FMDR is focused on hope and prayers for Dylan, not on implicating MR. :moo:

ETA: They have of course linked all the Press Releases and MSM coverage, so any requests for info from LE have been included along with the TipLine info.

Hi all9ofus. I've seen people from your area post on facebook that if somebody needed a cop and they went to the Marshall's office and it was closed, they would just dial 911 and a car would be sent to them.

What do you think?

Thanks!

ETA - another question. Do locals refer to the area of Vallecito around Mark's home as "the lake"?

Please see DH's statement below for an example.

What I posted yesterday said they always have someone on call so that would make sense. I would like to hear what a local says on that too though.

That has not been my impression for some time now, but I respect your opinion.:twocents:

I would agree that if the office was closed and they called the dispatch number an officer would be sent to them. I do know there are patrols outside of the office hours but i cannot confirm that there are patrols 24/7. I also believe the the Bayfield Marshal's office would NOT have jurisdiction outside of the town limits.

It is common for people in the Bayfield area to refer to the Vallecito area as "the lake" however there is at least one other area that is commonly referred to in the same manner.

Edited to add that the LPCSO also assists in providing law enforcement in the area. It is not uncommon to see LPSCO assisting the MO with security at events such as high school football games.

Thank you! It's so nice to have a local. Do you know if the on duty officer's hang out at the office after it's closed ?

I know something I read and posted yesterday said they don't have enough officer's for 24/7 duty but someone was always on call.

I guess what we're trying to figure out is if there could have been an officer at the office when MR supposedly went there to talk to them about Dylan. It would have been after 5:00 and the office hours say they close at 3:00.

I do not know if they hang out at the office when it is closed, I don't drive by the office very often. I can say with a certainty that the officers will meet you at the office after hours if needed.

Hello, good to see you posting again!

The part BBM above; can you tell us what/where the "other area" is?

Thanks!

A question for all9ofus. In one of the earliest threads, someone who had previously lived in Vallecito wrote that there weren't many tourists/visitors to the Vallecito area between Labor Day and the start of ski season. Do you think that's accurate? I know it was a holiday week, but everyone has been wondering if there would have been many non residents around at the time Dylan disappeared. TIA

The other area would be the Navajo Lake area. It is a popular area for locals (Durango, Bayfield, Ignacio, Aztec NM, Farmington NM) to spend summer days.

I know that during the winter months the area up at Vallecito is pretty empty. It is possible that there were still a few hunters in the area (I believe hunting season had just ended) but i can't imagine there were many tourists up there during that time. There are a lot of 2nd homes up there so it is possible that there were people visiting for the holiday but I think they would be more part time residents then pure visitors to the area.

It has been almost five months. Probably too late to show the truck now and get results. But it does not explain why they never did. Everything has to be tried when a child is missing. I think not showing it was a blunder, much like the wait before the detailed house search. And you can't get back the time lost.

But....... If they showed his truck and asked ppl if they remembered seeing it that would make him a suspect. I dont think LE is ready to do that. JMO

I think the ppl that live there know MR's trucks. they sure knew his son and hes not there all that often!

Not really. Not if they asked if anyone had noticed another vehicle following the truck, or anything unusual like that. Since they claim Dylan made it to MR's house, the only reason I can think of for the continued Sunday night interest is if they thought there was a chance someone followed them home, in which case they needed to show his truck, a long time ago.

The March 19th press release has this comment by LE in it.
Mark’s and Dylan’s interactions and activities within the community on November 18th and 19th, as well as tips related to persons, locations and sightings remain under investigation.

When they say that Mark's activities within the community remain under investigation does that mean LE considers Mark to be a suspect?

How would LE releasing a photo of Mark's truck and asking if anyone remembers seeing it on November 18th and 19th be any different than the statement quoted above?

I think there is a big difference in asking iif you noticed mark and Dylan and what they were doing as to HAVE YOU SEEN THIS TRUCK!
With a big pic of MR's truck.

I think they want to know if MR was seen somewhere he hadnt tol LE he was.

i think they left the house almost as soon as they ARRIVED but thats jmo.

Just wanted to make note quickly that I'm just getting back online to this thread, and that I will try to reply to any messages sent to me as I catch up while reading the pages since yesterday when I was last here.
O/T - I've been helping my daughter who is planning out her sister's baby shower.

BBM

Hmmm.....

I find your statement interpretation very interesting.

So, I'm guessing LE's statement could be taken as Mark is under investigation but for what? Dylan's disappearance? :what:

I may be banging my head against a wall, but if LE wanted info about the activities of MR at any time, his truck needed to have been shown. Showing his truck does not say "he is a suspect" any more than anything else does, IMO. They may be trying to verify his alibis. If so, they still need to show the %#%+*^ truck (although probably too late now). I do not think LE can or should take chances when a child is missing, i.e. worrying too much about possible court cases down the road. Just try anything, for heaven's sake. You may never get a court case, at this rate.
