I’ve been following this story for a while. No idea how I heard about it. Probably from yahoo or a similar news site.
I have my opinions on what may have happened to Dylan. Though, I don’t think it’s necessary to fan the flames. Already enough of that in the media.
Suffice to say I don’t believe Dylan is with us anymore and I can only hope, with spring approaching, his loved ones can finally get the answers and put this nightmare behind them and find a way to honor Dylan’s memory.
What prompted me to sign on to this web site (it’s only the second forum I’ve signed on to….the other is a hockey site…of course it is- I’m a Canadian:floorlaugh
is something that has bothered me since learning of it.
<modsnip> Dylan didn’t want to visit his dad but was on a court ordered visit boggles my mind.
I understand and generally agree with decisions of our courts BUT how in Gods name can a court force a person to visit someone against their will?
Yes, I realize Dylan is a minor but when we expect young people to have respect for rules and regulations and then force them to do something that they don’t want to do, we then wonder why they become combative.
This isn’t like telling a child to eat their vegetables. This is taking him/her out of their comfort/safe zone.
I understand the arguments regarding visitation rights but the rights of the child shouldn’t be ignored just because they’re a child. And if one of the parents tries to "buy" the child with gifts, well, that’s the price we pay for giving the child the right to say yes or no.
All I can do is hope that I’m wrong about what I think has happened to Dylan and that he comes home.
By the way I had no idea how many people go missing every year. Reading some of the threads is extremely upsetting.
