“We have had alerts by dogs numerous times from November up until now,” Bender said. “We have pursued all of those as detailed as we could, and none of them have proved positive.”

Also from same article...if the dogs haven't been proved positive what the hades are they hitting on? If they tell me dead animals again...we need the dog handlers....I is confused.

I wish there was a good solid reporter that would get a passion for this case, and do the work to lay out a well researched story.

I totally agree. A small video clip of yesterday's search would have been helpful to watch.

15 times!?! Wow. And here we thought they weren't doing anything. In earlier PR's they indicated they weren't all that interested in the hits by the dogs and then they turn around and go out there 15 times. Whodathunk????

One way or the other, it's best to thoroughly check out the lake and either find what they are looking for or eliminate it so they can look elsewhere.

The news stations seem to have pretty much lost interest except Durango Herald. This time around, most just said "Durango Herald reported" and copied from them.

are they still searching at the lake today?

thanks (am listening to scanner)

It never ceases to amaze me how the public can feel that LE is doing nothing, simply because they don't give daily interviews, don't give daily press releases, don't video tape every moment of the investigation, etc.

Then there is surprise by the public when it is mentioned that they have investigated several people, conducted numerous interviews, traveled throughout the state, traveled out of state, searched multiple homes, searched various locations and examined evidence. They have actually INVESTIGATED all along.

I just can't imagine what the public honestly believes LE does during an investigation and I believe that tv & social media has played a part in the expectation of know all/see all/disclose all. I don't understand how the public doesn't realize that investigations are private and it is private for a very sound reason. LE owes the public nothing, no updates, no theories, no speculation, nothing.

I just get discouraged when it appears that the public believes that they know more about how to conduct an investigation, who and what should be investigated moreso than the people that are actually doing a wonderful job of it. It's all MOO and public is people in general nobody specific and certainly not anyone on this forum.

I got the impression they would be out there today as well...but I could be wrong.

In this case, LE has said several times that they are no closer to finding out what happened to Dylan, so it is discouraging. I would almost rather they said nothing than say that several times. I am sure they never stopped working on it, or trying to find out, but that does not mean they are being successful.

Ah yes, it's true, law enforcement and families of missing children (or adults) owe the public nothing at all. But for what ever reason, here we are on a crime web sleuthing site looking over and over again at what little we know. Maybe we all think we have a little detective in us. Maybe we all just want to help. Maybe we sometimes wish and want more information. I know I do, whether I'm entitled to it or not. I think it's human nature to be curious, to want more information, to look again and again at what is being released and stated. LE hasn't asked for our help with this case, but the family certainly has. If I'm not mistaken the focus right now is on raising awareness about Dylan on social media, per Denise Hess.

I guess I'm saying I agree with you, we aren't owed anything. But it's not surprising that we still want to know.

BBM- exactly why I specifically said not this forum.
I absolutely understand all of us here wanting more, heck I wish we had a direct line to Bender and he was at our beck & call.

I was referring to comments I've seen elsewhere. It amazes me that I read things such as; the police should talk to his friends and see if they know anything. They may have some information.

I just want to tell them, Perhaps you should call them and suggest that, I'm sure 5 months into this investigation it never dawned on them to talk to Dylan's friends. :banghead:

I only read news articles and WS concerning Dylan. I don't read comments to news articles or go to social media websites.

That helps me stay clear on the validity of everything.

I don't think it's that people don't understand why LE doesn't release information, or that people think LE isn't doing anything when no or little info is released. I think most people do understand it and do support LE in protecting an investigation.

It's natural however to wish for more information, and to express that wish. Or to be surprised when significant information is unexpectedly released by LE, and to express that surprise. There's nothing wrong with it, and it doesn't signify ignorance IMO.

This got me thinking. An AMBER ALERT is a request for help. LE is asking people in Vallecito for help. Yeah, when one asks for help----one should be prepared for the questions that come with it. That goes for LE and for the families of the missing. The public didn't make this crime public.....journalists didn't either.

Very excellent point. It's natural that if someone asks for help with something that you would want to know if there has been a resolution or if not how it's progressing, because in general(not speaking specifically to LE) when you ask someone for help with a problem and it hasn't yet been resolved if a person knows all the avenues you have tried towards a resolution they can maybe think of other avenues you COULD try to get to a resolution. This is just generally speaking of course, as in it is kind of natural.
