You're not alone, Lotus. He strikes me as apathetic.
I wouldn't say apathetic. He strikes me as someone who must maintain control.

So Dad nudged Dylan and told him if he needed anything to call. At this point Dad knew Dylan was not meeting the friends and expected him to be home when he got home? So when did Dad go to the friends house where he thought Dylan would be? I guess what I'm asking is did Dad go home to find Dylan gone then headed back to Bayfield or did he try to call Dylan and no answer so he headed to the friends home directly from running his errands? At what point did Dad go to the friends house? Anyone know?
Early on I read that Dad went to the home where he expected Dylan to be. Why would he expect him to be there and how did he expect him to get there?
The LaPlata sheriff's office is not behaving like Jefferson County's sheriff's office did when precious Jessica Ridgeway went missing. Within 72 hours we knew a monster was out there.
What does not make sense is that the divorce is from 5 years ago and any rage should be long gone. In addition, the moving parent must pay costs for visitation. I pay $220 per month for that in Colorado. Even if the parenting time plan was re-done and MR's time got below the magic number of 93 overnights, the visitation costs would've negated any increase in child support. In addition, my bet the Mom's new job was a substantial increase in salary (state Fort Lewis College versus elite private Colorado College) and it could be that MR got a reduction is cs through that. Even if he paid any cs. I know Moms who pay cs because they have the better job.
There should've been no rage about money. There should be no rage about the divorce because that fury was five years ago. There should be no rage about lack of parenting time because the Mom stated MR did not exercise all of his decreed parenting time and a poster at a news site stated MR worked away from home a lot in the O&G fields.
There should be no unhappiness about changing houses because Dylan had done that for five years. There should've been excitement about seeing childhood friends. I put no weight in the scowl emoticon because a child can do that to please the other parent.
Nothing makes sense.

Well in all fairness, who among us wouldn't be?
Remember Mark Lunsford ? He and his parents were dragged through the mud. It was even reported that little Jessica's grandmothers' polygraph was "inconclusive" and Fox News was reporting she failed the poly.
Elizabeth's Smarts dad was also.

Well I'll be no school huh!! lol. I've posted that link twice already. Glad someone read it. lol
According to the family FB page, Dad went to the friends house at 4:15 and said ' where is Dylan.' He knew since 11:30 that Dylan was not home. So I wonder the same thing. How did he think Dylan got to his friends? And why didnt he go earlier or call them to find out if Dylan was even there? I wonder if he called Dylan's cell to ask him where he was?
Whatever else is going on, it is clear (to me, anyway) that LE seems unable to verify Dad's story.
In Jessica's case, they were pretty quick to state very clearly that her parents were both ruled out.

The task force concluded its door-to-door canvassing that began Tuesday and have shifted its focus to following up on leads and evidence.
"Until we put together any leads or information that leads us in a certain direction, most work is going to take place internally," he said.

hmmm.....evidence??
Thinking about the fishing pole a bit, since LE just searched the house and let's pretend a fishing pole was never ever brought up in the scenario by MR, would LE even know that a fishing pole was missing on their own? Let alone that it was Dylan's? Unless dad has a 'fishing pole holder' in the garage with labels as to who's pole belongs to who, honestly, would they even know if a fishing pole was missing or not?
Yes! Why wait 5 hours to go see if your son found a way to get to his friends' house? He could have called or gone there right away. Where did he go locally for almost 5 hours before that? :waitasec:
Unfortunately, we don't have the ability to hear his 911 call to LE and have no idea what he told them. LE can only begin their starting point based on what MR tells them initially.
MR saw the friends before they were interviewed by LE and they were the ones who mentioned hitchhiking. Did he put that idea into their minds or is that actual fact?
Another thing that bothers me, is that when ER wondered if MR did something to 'remove Dylan from the situation' he said she was 'making more of it than need be'. Really? Her son is missing - YOUR son is missing, MR! This is not a misplaced ipod that can resurface when you least expect it.
The family tried to text him and he would not respond. Media tried to contact him and his phone rang and rang and rang. He never complained to the media until now he felt LE was going about it all wrong.
We just don't know because we only have his version of what he tells us. We don't know what was said or done 'behind the scenes' outside talking to LE, like the errands and so on. We only have his word and nothing else to support it either way.
:sigh:
p.s. btw, anyone else find it interesting he hasn't said things like, 'if only I had just made him go with me', 'if only i had this' or 'of only i had that' and so on then he would still be here and not missing.

That is another jurisdiction though and each jurisdiction has their own way of doing things. They may never come out publicly and eliminate him just like other parents had to twist in the wind until an arrest was made of the real suspect.
I saw where they have confirmed his alibi of where he said he went that morning.
It may have been from Sgt. Bender when he was on NGs show the other night. Yes, I believe that is where I read it....in the transcripts of the show since I dont watch NG anymore and havent in years.
