Sounds like they are going to continue to search the local area which I think is prudent until they can clear the area. I remember in the winter LE said something to the effect they were or had been even looking under bridges. Posted by a member yesterday there are footbridges in the area, so maybe these were the kind of bridges they were referring to. Very pleased to have that info.

I love that LE has confirmed they are searching this area. Love that our thinking about the wilderness in the summer is correct. The BEST chance of finding Dylan, if he is out there, is by raising awareness in those who will be out wandering the backcountry. IIRC, Durango gets about 100,000+ tourists during the summer months. That's alot of eyes and ears.

I know there is speculation that Dylan could be anywhere and that is true. It is also true that nothing puts him OUT of the Vallecito area as well.

So many things I want to know if LE has checked out. For instance, if I go with the theory that Dylan was abducted by a stranger on Monday morning, I would want to check with FedEx and UPS and any other courier services to find out which drivers were on duty and what their routes were. With the tracking systems they have I would think you could retrace a drivers stops and times pretty easily. Perhaps one of them saw something. I guess we assume like the mail lady that they would have come forward though :( But sometimes people don't connect the dots until later and realize they did see something. Maybe something didn't seem right that on its own might have been brushed off: a car driving erratically, an upside down license plate, a backpack laying on the side of the road......

hmmph:banghead:

The best chance of finding Dylan alive is to give out his picture and information to people in your area, no matter where you live.

I would really like to see an age-progressed image of Dylan. I know it's "only" been six months, but at his age, puberty can make significant changes in a person's appearance in a very short period of time. For instance I keep wondering if he might be needing to shave by now.

(sorry, I don't have brothers or any boy children in my family so these things are a bit mysterious to me)

I heard the same thing from some local peeps. It sounds like they've still got a solid core group of people out there with boots on the ground, week in and week out. It really is heartwarming to hear about that kind of commitment in today's world.

IMO, of course.

And from the sound of it, LE boots on the ground every week too. That's good news!

Was just reading about another Four Corners boy, Dillon McKee, who went missing from Pagosa Springs this past February.

http://www.pagosadailypost.com/news..._McKee,_updated_at_2pm_Saturday,_February_16/

There are some significant differences in the cases, obviously, but this part made me wonder if anything similar could be relevant to Dylan.

"The families [sic] concerns are as follows:
Dillon may have met someone in an online gaming room who he made a deal with for a ride, thus he paid for the gas.
Shortly after he was at the Giant, his ability to communicate was taken away (his cell phone).
The family sent this link re: Online Predators and strongly recommends parents re-evaluate the rules and allowances provided for kids who participate in this type of activity."

Anyway, just brainstorming if Dylan might have tried to leave on his own on Sunday night after his dad went to bed. Do we know if Dylan is an online gamer at all? IIRC he did have his own Facebook page, correct?

I'm pretty sure this was discussed here really early on after Dylan's disappearance - the fact that he was into some online gaming I believe. Not sure that there would be any msm links to support that. I seem to remember discussion about Dylan playing the game Call of Duty on Xbox Live at least, because my own boys were into the same thing back then and it made me pause and wonder who they were exposed to/chatting with in their online games.

Good point. Not to mention with an age-progressed picture they'd probably start with a recent one, which would even be helpful. He looks so different IMO between some of his pictures, it would be useful to know exactly what he looked like (hair length, style, etc.) in the last picture(s) taken before he disappeared. I know we have the Walmart one, but I mean one with no hat and where you can actually see his face better.

I keep racking my head where (which case Jessica R or LI serial killer) I saw a statistic on how far off the road most bodies are found? Anyone remember? I am vaguely remembering it is within 20 maybe 30 feet from the road. But anyway, if he is no longer alive, sadly I think it is very likely that will be the case here. I am speculating that if it was at night he would be less hidden than if it was during the day.

I am paying particular attention to the BBM in this statement:

and doing everything we can to search under every rock, look in every tree stump, turn over every log in…whether it be in Vallecito, the roads leading in and out of Vallecito, whether it be in the town of Bayfield, in LaPlata County...

If MR is guilty, there is an old saying, something to the effect "there's a little truth in every lie." If this is true, is Mark telling us he is in the woods?

That comment hit me like a brick. My heart is looking for Dylan, my mind is trying to figure out where Dylan's body is. I like to keep my mind at bay, but that statement stood out and made me wonder if there was some truth in it that MR just couldn't keep from saying. (MOO)

Exactly! i'm always looking for the grain of truth hidden in the lie. Kind of like how he "struggles" with this. After i listened to the radio show (on and on about logs) I wondered if maybe Dylan was thwacked with a log? Tripped on a log? Hidden beneath a log? The mind wanders. He will be found.

Dee asked about feet from the road....i think stats say 20 feet from the road. I think every road in Vallecito has been searched 20 feet out but 20 feet out from a trail might be useful, if it were at all possible.

http://www.parents.com/kids/safety/stranger-safety/child-abduction-facts/

Based on the identity of the perpetrator, there are three distinct types of kidnapping: kidnapping by a relative of the victim or "family kidnapping" (49 percent), kidnapping by an acquaintance of the victim or "acquaintance kidnapping" (27 percent), and kidnapping by a stranger to the victim or "stranger kidnapping" (24 percent).
Family kidnapping is committed primarily by parents, involves a larger percentage of female perpetrators (43 percent) than other types of kidnapping offenses, occurs more frequently to children under 6, equally victimizes juveniles of both sexes, and most often originates in the home

Acquaintance kidnapping involves a comparatively high percentage of juvenile perpetrators, has the largest percentage of female and teenage victims, is more often associated with other crimes (especially sexual and physical assault), occurs at homes and residences, and has the highest percentage of injured victims.

One in five children 10 to 17 years old receive unwanted sexual solicitations online.

BUMP

A NCMEC study showed that while the victims of maternal killings are almost always found either in or close to the home, fathers will, on average, dispose of the bodies hundreds of miles away.

It makes me sad for his mother to think that people are looking for a dead Dylan. I can't even imagine how that would feel. I know after so much time it's hard to still believe he's alive, but my heart won't like me think of anything else. I'm trying to keep those dark thoughts from my mind. I want to believe in a positive outcome. That is all I've ever wanted, is Dylan to come home alive and well. IMO
