No way his dad wouldn't know if he lost his phone; it would be a major crisis. Same if it stopped working.

Ok but he went home after the trip into town, was tired, and was said to have gone right to sleep....so in that case he may of never even looked for it, or maybe thinking he left it in the truck and would get it in the am. Either that or the phone would of been really the only thing of value someone would want to hurt Dylan over, and it would of been used by now.

And if you are traveling in an area where coverage is spotty the constant searching for a signal will drain the battery much quicker.

Are we 100% certain that he had his charger with him? If he forgot his charger and his phone was dead in the morning, maybe he didn't use the landline because he doesn't have his friends' numbers memorized. I would be lost if I couldn't use my Contacts on my cell phone.

Even if those items could be used, MR was home for a number of hours before reporting Dylan missing. It wouldn't be odd for him to have maybe straightened up the living room, loaded the dishwasher etc. At that point he presumably thought Dylan was safe with friends and would have no reason to imagine preserving those items would ever become important.

The next morning, Dylan was sleeping on the couch where Mark Redwine now sits and where Dylan's blankets still lie jumbled. Mark said he waited until 7:30 a.m. but still couldn't rouse his son, so he told him he would return about 11. When he got back at 11:30, his son's dirty cereal bowl was beside the sink. The television was on Nickelodeon. His son's fishing pole was gone. So was his black-and-gray backpack. A few articles of clothing were left behind on the couch.

The article also says that Lt. Shupe says they are entertaining that he may have hitchhiked, and they have a team investigating RSO's, so I don't think everything except MR has been ruled out.

Are we 100% certain that he had his charger with him? If he forgot his charger and his phone was dead in the morning, maybe he didn't use the landline because he doesn't have his friends' numbers memorized. I would be lost if I couldn't use my Contacts on my cell phone.

I asked this way back but I believe his Mother confirmed that he had taken the charger. I'm not 100% sure on this though.

Does that make me a bad mother? We have a lot of chargers. I couldn't tell you at any given point which are which and where they all are.

I have to say more often than not, my husband has forgotten his charger at home when we go on vacation, and it isn't until the time we go to charge it that anyone knows he didn't bring it. Being a mother, that is not, nor would it be one of the things I would check when having my child pack for any trip(and yes even to there fathers). This is a common forgotten item, and if no one told her he had forgotten it, then she wouldn't know to look, and yes even now they probably wouldn't think about it, as it was reported missing with his phone.

If it was someone who Dylan knew or trusted, say a friend of his dad or someone he had previous seen with his dad - then yes, he might if he'd been promised a lift to his friends'.

He may even have left a note for his dad - which the abductor could have taken with him. Or this person could have told Dylan "don't worry, I'll tell your dad where you are when I get back". That would explain Dylan taking his fishing stuff, phone and backpack with him.

It would even explain the lack of phone activity.... he wakes up and charges phone whilst having breakfast, but before he has a chance to use the phone to contact his friends, there is a knock at the door .... then events unfold as above?? He could have thought he'd contact the friends on the drive over - but never got the chance.

He did text mother when he arrived. We know that after he arrived he texted mother about arriving and friends to tell them there was change of plans and he will be meeting them Monday instead of Sunday. Then supposedly the phone was turned on at 8 pm and then turned off?- I am not sure what was done with the phone at 8 pm exactly.

Someone checking to see who and what Dylan had texted??

That is freeeeeeeeeakkkkkyyyyy. Rare to see them all like that, often they "stalk" so people don't see them, even if they're right around you. That picture is sooooo creepy, oh my goodness. Amazing photo. I love animals, but I also know how dangerous mountain lions can be... (Did you ever see that mountain lion episode of "I Survived"?) These things just basically jump out of nowhere and attack; it is truly scary and why I'm always scared when I'm hiking up here. They are huge, powerful, powerful animals. I remember when I first came up here to CO. I saw a photo of a "cub". I thought, oh my goodness, if that's a cub, how big is an adult? (There is a reason they're called Mountain LIONS). Then my friend showed me a picture on his cellphone. Upright, the mountain lion was taller than him, weighing over 150 lbs I think. In my area there is a mountain lion map with updated sightings which I often refer to. It looks like a Christmas tree.

I've been considering the mountain lion thing from the beginning as well. Sometimes after attacks there is blood left, but also sometimes a mountain lion attack is suspected and not a trace of the attack is ever found (as in the case of a recent missing hiker up here whom I totally think this happened to).

Of course it is possible that Dylan encountered a bad person, either known to him and lured, or by a stranger, but with all this said, I keep coming back to MR's interview and his lack of pleading to the abductor, among many other "hinky meter" things.

IMO, all the reasons for losing a phone, forgetting a charger, forgetting to charge the phone, leaving the phone in dad's truck, etc. etc. are by folks who don't use or depend on their cell phones. For those of us who do use and depend on them, it is a second nature to keep them with you and charged at all times unless you absolutely cannot do it...and then you will charge them ASAP. For most teens, they are a lifeline.

IMO, all the reasons for losing a phone, forgetting a charger, forgetting to charge the phone, leaving the phone in dad's truck, etc. etc. are by folks who don't use or depend on their cell phones. I think it's more a type A/type B thing. I've often had to stop and buy a charger because I forgot it, but it was my only access to directions, contacts, where I was going, what time I was supposed to be there, etc.

I don't own a home phone, and my phone has everything on it. Appointments, maps, notes, numbers, even most of my gift cards are on my phone now.

I'm just very disorganized so I don't always keep as good track of things as I should.

Did they verify that he had HIS phone charger, or A phone charger? Big difference. They mostly look alike, it could have been easy to not notice if he grabbed the wrong one.

I have ONE house charger, and probably six different cell phones (only one is being used, the rest are from the past 2 years, random prepaids, or contract phones)... and all the phones work with that ONE charger.

Indeed. Just throwing this out there: Unfortunately, this is not 100% indication of one's location bc sometimes when one tower is overloaded, it is redirected to another tower not necessarily near the caller's location. I saw this is an another case... 2 best friends were convicted of conspiring and killing one of their husbands on the basis of tower activity close to the body and the biggest point of contention was experts weighing in for the defense that often cell calls are rerouted to other towers which are not necessarily physically close to the caller. With all that being said, who knows what the tower capabilities are for that area, how many calls were outgoing during that time frame, etc...
