I don't know how sophisticated those dog's noses are but I would think that if my son was missing and the last place he slept was on the sofa under a rumpled blanket that would be the last place I would plant myself on. I don't know how many times I've heard 'don't touch anything, leave everything as you found it' from TV shows. If LE had already determined that Dylan's scent wasn't there or not strong enough then IMO that means the bed stuff has been left there ever since Dylan disappeared and that makes me believe that MR may not be fastidious on his housecleaning which makes me think that the bowl, spoon or anything else Dylan handled would probably be laying around so why didn't LE find Dylan's scent so the dogs could track him?

In the article linked below, it states:
"Police and volunteers searched a Colorado lake for a 13-year-old boy after cadaver dogs picked up a scent that led them to the edge of the water."
"Seven divers from New Mexico State Police searched Vallecito Lake through the weekend after the dogs followed the scent to the lake, according to KMGH."

So his flight was TWO days later than originally booked. Yeah, mechanical probs for 2 days seems......unusual.

Since the 17th flight would have been a Friday after school, I wonder if Dylan had things in Colorado Springs that he wanted to do over the weekend and really didn't want to go til Sunday night. Then to turn around and drive all the way back 2 days later, I can only imagine what he might have thought of that.

Am I misreading something... Friday was the 16th, he flew out on Sunday the 18th and disappeared on Monday the 19th (allegedly).

Sorry in advance if I'm confused... it's a frequent event in my life!

Yes, it looks like Frontier and United would be the possibilities for him, and I think they all go through Denver. So if he was going to fly to Durango, he would have to go COS-DEN-DRO. I think what MR was trying to say was that they wanted him on a direct flight (not a nonstop) so that he wouldn't have to navigate the Denver airport to get on his second flight to Durango, because I'm not sure it's possible to fly nonstop from COS to DRO except charter. And I seriously doubt they chartered a plane ....

thank you and I agree. I have friends who have a second home in durango and when they fly from Dallas they fly a charter. It is much easier and less time consuming without a lot of hassel. but, it is very expensive. jmo

You know in all the pics of Dylan's family posted on fb and MSM, I've not seen one of him and his Dad.

That may not be so big a deal. The parents divorced 6 to 7 years ago. There ws no facebook prior to that and at that time Dylan was 6 or 7 years old so he wasnt taking pics with his phone, etc. Dad's probably NOT too advanced with the electronic age, like my own DH and doesnt' know how or care to upload pics. For all we know dad could have hundreds of actual photos in his house of himself and Dylan.
If he did you would think he might share one with the media,,,,,,but ........

In my experience 3 year olds love what you make them listen to!

And Dylan had an older brother that might well have liked that song too.

I guess it's open to interpretation where the dogs started tracking from... specifically the second quote above... JMO

Cadaver dogs don't "track" ..
Tracking dogs would track the scent..
Cadaver dogs would "alert" when they smell human decomposition..

I was thinking the exact same . At 3 there is no way he had the capacity to understand and analyze the lyrics. He probably liked the beat or the cousin is older and got him to listen to it and Dylan said I love this!

When my niece was 3 the cranberries hit zombie was out. She sang it til her lungs caved in in the car ! IT was on all the time. I played it for her a year or so ago,, shes' 20 now and she didnt' even remember it . So..... what's that tell you about a 3 yrs olds music tastes? And I doubt very much if she knew it was a bout a war. She just liked the sound.

Wow, that's a pretty intense music choice for a 3 year old. I wonder if someone played it to him a lot? My son is 2 and his favorite song is Wheels on the Bus, i cannot imagine him coming to me in a year and saying a song like this was his favorite. If he does, i will be a little worried.

I used to listen to that song a lot but i associated a different meaning to it. Many interpret it as the singer singing it to his son after being separated. Sounds like the Redwine Marriage went through years of turmoil and poor Dylan was stuck in the middle absorbing it all.

When I fist heard that was his favorite song I also thought that was a little heavy, but now knowing he liked it as a 3yr old not so concerned about it.
Dylan also had an older brother who may have listened to that song a lot and at 3yrs old Dylan could have really picked up on that one song if it was played in the house a lot.
O/T When my daughter was 4yrs old she LOVED the song from Titanic My heart will go on so much that my sister-in-law recorded a tape for her with that song looping and she titled it "My heart will go on and on and on and on"

If he were planning on hitchhiking, I don't think he was planning on walking back home. He started out for the lake, went to fish a little, then planned on either hitching a ride the rest of the way, or maybe calling dad and saying, Pick me up at the lake instead.

Although ... . I'm curious about the conversation in the morning. Presumably MR had an appt, and had told Dylan he would take him to friends when he went to his appt and errands. Dylan agrees, that night. But early the next morning, he was tired and didn't want to get up. Dad says, "Sorry, if you want to go, you have to go now, I am not driving that way twice today." (That's what I would have said -- now or never, buddy!) Dylan rolls over to sleep, Dad leaves. Dylan wakes up and thinks, CRAP, I lost my ride, and he won't take me later, so I have to get there myself.

BBM

If so, then Dad was lying to us. Because in his most recent interview he says that he promised he would return at 11 to give Dylan a ride, and that Dylan acknowledged everything he said.

If that is true, and Dylan thought his Dad was returning at 11, then I don't see why he would try and hitch a 20 mile ride. Especially without even speaking to his friends that morning.

Not mine, unfortunately. When my older boy was about 3, he asked me one day to sing the Lil Far Up song for him. I had no idea what he was talking about until he added, "You know it goes, Lil far up oompa pa oompa pa mow mow mow hi silver away!" I finally figured out that he meant Elvira, so I don't think 3 yr-olds really like most songs for their words. :waitasec:

Both of my boys had their own music by that age, radio and cassette players. I listen to either country or old rock, they liked Dr. Demento, the Curly Shuffle (I must have heard a couple hundred times a day), Weird Al, Cheech and Chong, etc. Mostly goofy stuff, alternative and some rock. Dad usually listened to Garrison Kiellor or talk radio, or his scanner. My boys didn't care much for what either of us listened to.

Mom early on told everyone (press) this was DR's favorite song. She even posted it. That is one song I would not want my missing son associated with. I can't imagine what she was thinking. That song is so depressing. Not the song so much as the video. jmo

THe other possibility (and what makes most sense to me) would be for mom or brother to drive him to Denver and put him on the plane there. Depending on where she lives in CO Spgs, it's not much more than an hour, hour and a half. We used to drive down to the Springs to get cheaper flights, a long time ago. But I guess they were able to find the right flight.

Yeah, I agree it would be an odd choice for a 3 year old to come up with on his own. My son had "favorite" songs too at that age and it was usually what I was listening to over and over again. Could have been the favorite song of whoever Dylan was around...,and not really DR.

Oops, I thought the 3 year old was a typo for 13 year old. Three year olds want to emulate the bigger brother, sister or parents, people they love.I agree the seeker.

Me too, we saw a bunch of C. Anthony, Elizabeth & Lyric on their bikes, heck even ICE released 2 pics from a vid of a teen age boy they wanted to find and did. There has been numerous video's released of missing kids, just doesn't make sense to not release it. jmo

I'm thinking if there is any video, it will probably be released today. Just seems to be the way things go. If they were reviewing video over the weekend, they maybe, hopefully, they will have something today. Crossing my fingers anyway.

Ok, I missed that. Was that a video interview, or paper?

To Bayfield it is 12.9 miles. Still a long way, but not 20. jmo

omg...I just flashbacked to when my son was 3 and I'd pick him up from daycare. Seemed like for a couple of months there the radio station would always play Primus's "Winona's Big Brown Beaver" on the way home. He loved that song! Still does, but I think at age 21, he loves it for different reasons.

Just last weekend, I had a conversation with DD15 early in the morning while she was in her bed. I asked questions, she answered, I did my running around and then came home and was in the kitchen.

About 2pm she came downstairs and said "Mom, were you in my room this morning? Did we talk about anything important because I have NO IDEA what was said..."

We laughed about it ...

Not the first time this has happened... teenagers!

Then I am surprised we are not commenting on a thread about your missing sister in law. How dare she ? LOL

Not a fan of titanic music here :P

If that was Dylans fave song I think most Family and friends would know that. "It is what it is" (note i didn't say "It was what it was") :please:
