Like I said before, if no one knows what Dylan's intentions were, LE would NOT be able to say...he DID NOT RUN AWAY. Can you explain this?

They don't believe his disappearance is voluntary....which running away would be....by what the investigation has shown them thus far. That's all they can go by.

Yeah, I don't think Dylan would have done it knowing that MR was coming home to take him to his friends at 11:30. That's a long way to walk with gear, fish, and walk home by then.

Agreed!
Its not a hop skip and jump out the back door.

I think dad knew nothing about HOW he left even if he did ASSUME that he had.

I'd be curious if that was his typical parenting style.

I'm going to reference another of my "narcissistic ex" stories, not because you care, but because it is an inside look into how one thinks and reacts.

I had to call ex one weekend due to a family emergency. He said the kids were spending the night with friends. I asked who so that I could call them there. He said he had no idea and it WASN'T HIS RESPONSIBILITY TO KNOW. Yes, this man taught at the college level and was considered very booksmart.

His ONLY reaction to my need to reach the boys was, again, that I was trying to control HIM. it was ALWAYS about him. Always. Anything that happened, he could only think in terms of what it meant to him. And he refused to write down the phone number where I could be reached because, again, that was just me trying to control him. It was as though he was possessed and could not be reached.

Just wondering about the history of parenting skills here.

Im starting to feel like the way I did while following missing child case Haley Dunn It got so bad, *i* was warned here for talking bad about LE. I NEVER talk bad about them!

But ....due to huge missed opportunities and bungled investigations in a few of the cases I have followed..... I am far less likely to hang onto every word and treat it like gospel.

So... I will not blindly have quite as much faith in LE as I used to.

They are just people .. with varying abilitys .. and real lives .. and real problems outside of their jobs ... I don't think they ever set out to fail ..

God love'em.. a thankless job, theirs is.

I doubt if it means anything, but when I first saw that (with the words), I thought it was interesting that it was about a boy who lived with his mother and another man (stepfather/boyfriend) and visited with his father. The times with Dad were full of love and laughter, the times with Mom and OtherGuy were sad, angry and abusive (by the guy, not by Mom). I do hope it's just the music he likes, and not the words he relates to.

I also wanted to comment on walking 4+ miles to the reservoir. ed to a place a week after my 14th birthday, so I was close to DR's age, my brother is a year younger than me, so he's also close. The closest place to swim or fish was a lake about 3 1/2 miles away. It usually took about 45 minutes to walk there, and sometimes less if there was a reason to hurry. During the summer, we (not always together) walked to and from that lake almost every day, and sometimes more than once in a day. When DR is in that area, he seems to spend a lot of time outside, so I don't see it as unreasonable that he might walk down there on occasion.

Its okay to question LE and wonder about how they did/are doing something. It is not okay to bash them.

I don't know if I would let my 3 year even watch such a video, kwim? But the cousin specifically talks about watching the video in the article. Makes me think things are not as bad between Dylan and his dad as some would like us to think.

Is it ok to bash our own heads against the wall because we are so anxious for some sort of news? :banghead::banghead:

I was just going to post this exact question! 4 miles is a long way to walk to go fishing, unless he was going to meet a friend or something , but there is no evidence anything like that happened.

And it is 8 miles to the dam, which is near where dogs picked up scent & divers were searching.

Add to that the fact that Dylan never contacted his friends that morning to let them know why he would be late, makes me think the "gone fishing", accidental drowning theory is unlikely. JMO

I haven't heard anyone other than ER and her sister say it was bad. I'm not saying they're lying, but I don't think the angry ex is really the best person to ask about it. Sometimes it's true, but sometimes it's just bitterness speaking.

Oh I know. I was warned because I had bashed them in the Dunn case. My warning was deserved and never repeated:)

I posted long ago that I firmly believe one of them is a narcissist based on the fact they've been litigating that divorce for 7 years!! Dylan flies in and the first thing on dads agenda is to visit his divorce attorney? Really? Two normal mentally healthy people would be able resolve their issues way back when.

IMO it was all about winning for one of them. Mom appears IMO to have moved on in every way. I said appears...

how do we know they have been in litigation for seven years?

The mother just moved away and it more then likely affected visitation and support.:twocents:

Ok, here is my most burning question: video-store interview references Dylan having flown on a ROUND TRIP ticket the last time. It cuts off before the end, so was MR implying (or did he go on to actually say off camera) that THIS one was only one way??
That bothered me more than anything else.

If it WAS one way, would that be a concern to any of you out there?

not if the dad planned on driving him home... the latest article says that dad is from denver (he also works out of town)

He was sleeping. If he could wake up to contact them he would have just went. If I were DRs parent I would have called the parents of friends and explain.
