I finally figured out what everyone is talking about! I thought it was referring to the pictures kids put on Instagram with the noses and ears or whiskers on them like my daughter and her friends do!

I've been looking for this picture now for weeks. No wonder I couldn't find it.

I didn't know it was called a duck face, but back in high school we used to pose like that because we thought it looked 'cool.' Maybe that's why she does it.

Curious...when did that trend start?
ETA...I'm asking about both the duck face and the whiskers/noses that I'm seeing now

Local police are LE. They know to be on the look out. We don't know where TS went and what intersections she stopped at - but LE knows. SAR doesn't need to know. SAR doesn't usually know. They are asked to focus on a search in a particular area. Local LE isn't tasked with conducting searches, just with keeping an eye out. Which I am sure they are all doing and have done.

If every person associated with a search was given sensitive information (how does LE know where to search? that's sensitive and will be an issue for a jury) we'd have way more leaks.

LE doesn't know for sure which of the 3-4 vehicles involved here is the "last seen" vehicle, but they do know which adult was last responsible for Gannon's well-being and welfare. They also know that person's movements. Why would they muddy the waters by asking for "every red truck" (or "black truck") to go out to the public? I'm not getting how that would do more than just get lots of random tips. They don't need random tips in this case.
Try telling that to the guy that burst his butt out with his drone every day in cold weather searching for a walking runaway locally.
Or the300 people Al found outside his front door on the Tuesday or Wednesday morning, all searching for a walking runaway.
Of course it is vitally important for search efforts when they could be up to 300 miles away, if that is possible within a 4hr window.

There is nothing to suggest that RD was not the first to discover the anomaly, a week later. His reported comments in MSM cited LE response to his finds.

It's less relevant later but hugely relevant at the beginning of the search.

I have never followed a case with even a fraction of the intensity I’ve followed this one. I lived in San Diego when Danielle Van Dam was kidnapped, and David Westerfield was tried. I didn’t follow it too closely, just the little bits on the radio while I was driving around. But so little was revealed prior to his arrest and trial that I was shocked they even knew to look at him let alone get a conviction. I never even thought until now that there must’ve been so much more that was revealed in the trial.
I followed the Danielle Van Dam case very closely and recall being a member of this forum (under a different name though). Oh boy we were enraged to learn there was a deal on the table to remove the Death penalty in exchange for the location of Danielle's body. But, just before they sealed the deal, LE discovered the body, and he was convicted and sentenced to death. The California Supreme Court denied his appeal.

I recall that this forum was outraged to learn that the jury was never aware of the plea deal, and that attorney Steve Feldman drug her parents through the mud all the while knowing that his client was guilty. I recall a petition to have him disbarred. What a night that was!

It is telling that they aren't needing tips.

Sleuther how awful! Hope you are feeling better, the flu keeps you down for awhile.
I am wondering why LE has canceled the search. Was this just a release to watch a guilty party? Seems so odd to all of a sudden cancel so soon after releasing the statement. Thoughts?

Maybe LE cancelled the search for now because they want experienced LE to search instead of military volunteers thinking there might be important evidence there because of her latest interview

SAR is civilian volunteers.
IIRC the search on 105 Sierra Pines Ln to Edventures apparently had them, but not community volunteers.
Now with military volunteers they have searchers with varying degrees of secret clearances. They want the rumor mill to quiet down, meaning they need found evidence to stay admisable evidence in court.

As someone who is far far away from being local (Hi, from sunny South Africa!!), may I ask what the weather is like in Colorado Springs right now and in the forthcoming days?

I do believe that snow melt will be invaluable in the search for Gannon and I wonder if this is not part of the reason for them postponing the next search until tomorrow...

All just MOO

IIRC the search is back on for tomorrow 2/29/20.

IMO if I had viewed my surveillance and saw something worth reporting such as RD did, I'd have given it to police only. Unless instructed otherwise by them of course. When local news tried to talk to me about a murder in my area, I told them if I had anything useful to say, I'd tell the detectives not them. (I bet every neighbor has at least one of their cameras aimed at that house now too!)

And since I have had a few negative experiences with local LE, I would go to the father (AS) first. I might contact the FBI. But my main concern would be my neighbor, whose child is missing and I would go directly to him. I have lots of reasons for that action. AFAIK, that's exactly what RD did.

I would never, ever call the police first. I would be hopeful that maybe - just maybe - the person implicated is not so far gone that their spouse can't still communicate with them, for the safety and well-being of a small child.

Depending on their reaction, I might then call police. I would not talk to local news, but I would talk to neighbors and family members. I would say quite a bit to a family member, almost nothing to police.

About TS keeping Gannon home from school because of tummy troubles and then driving all over hell’s half acres with him.

Is she ignorant or sadistic?

I had two children. I also had a husband with IBS. Our lives were planned and ruled by and around how tummies were doing.

It would have been torture to have to stop every few minutes for potty break.

Unless she didn’t care if he couldn’t control it and purposely took him with her to humiliate him.

An 11 year old boy would have just died of embarrassment to have that happen to him. IMO

Do we have a map showing all known search areas along with suspected/implied travel routes? I would love to see those together. I suspect that result is going to closely mimic the accuracy of consumer device GPS data.
That would be awesome to have. I am not local at all and that would definitely help! I could try to put one together if no one else has...

MOO the DP is used mostly to deal with horrible criminals who will give up information for their life a decade in the future.

Yes it is, how old is she anyway? I'll say this though, my 40 year old DIL does the same thing. She gets a pass though because I love her ;)

I will trade you my 21 yr old son for your 40 yr old daughter and duck face right now.....ugh.

I doubt highly your daughter would put herself in a missing photo with a duck face

P.S. Almost every policeman I've interviewed says that calling the police would not be their first response in many situations. And that they avoid police contact in many situations.

They will find Gannon. And the police know how people are - that they were very lucky to have one citizen (RD) come forward with incredibly valuable information. But I don't think RD did that completely on his own, I think he talked to AS first.

The whiskers and noses and stuff is from Snap Chat. It’s an app. Where you take pics and can add graphics to them like dog ears, rabbit ears and noses, crowns, stars, all kind of stuff and send it to friends.

<snipping for brevity>
Do we think TS has voluntarily given LE access to her icloud and devices? Does Al have the power to do that as someone that's probably on all the accounts? Can LE get warrants for things like this even if there's not a suspect? Biggest questions I have right now after the new crime online interview.

I'm skeptical she would have voluntarily consented. Unless AS was able to legally consent to LE accessing the account as something they mutually owned, I think as soon as they would have come at her with a warrant for her device or her account info, password or other info in relation to it, she would have gone straight for a lawyer.

And she doesn't seem to be behaving as someone who has retained one so far...

but JMHO and IANAL

PS- Hi and welcome to WS.

That would be awesome! I tried to work with maps yesterday but royally screwed it up because I’m too far away from Colorado to be sure of the area so I’m out on trying to do this. I did try to map out that search today near Beacon Lite Road just for myself to view and I think I got the vicinity but not 100% sure. Would be great to visualize if you or anyone with better skills could do this.

Weather is very nice and clear today and tomorrow both. Snow looks like it is coming in Sunday evening into Monday. Take all that for what it is because our forecast here likes to keep us on our toes and change. Often. But today has been great and tomorrow looks like more of the same!
