Small correction: in Colorado it’s up to the prosecution to prove the defendant was sane at the time of the crime.

But yeah, I’ve been scratching my head too. How does one prove either condition in a case where the defendant began covering up the crime so quickly? I suppose that by itself could indicate not only sanity but also understanding the urgency of cleaning up.

Luckily IMO this one’s in the bag.

I hope it's "in the bag" because, from everything I heard yesterday, LS looks certifiable.

I think (JMOO) the Defense will turn right around and point to the same phone calls as evidence that LS was insane not only when she killed Gannon but at many other times in her life as well.

As soon as LS said Gannon stayed home from school sick, but she later allowed him to visit with a friend, I believed she was responsible for his disappearance. That came out in the early days, maybe even hours after he was reported missing through the media.

LS slaughtered this little boy. What she’s accused of doing to him is still shocking to hear. imo

I don't think LS has the ability to commensurate with anyone else.

She is the center of her universe, and everyone else just orbits around her.

Yes, she slaughtered Gannon, and I really believe she's an incredible danger to other people. I fear for other inmates who have to be around her.

Maybe she's seated away from her attorneys because she may not smell so good. IDK if defendants who are going to court everyday are allowed to shower each day. Perhaps her behavior, (head down; looking at the wall; stroking her hair; chewing her fist; laughing with her attorney etc) along with an unkempt appearance, is what she is trying to project as insanity. I get the vibe she thinks herself pretty. jmo

I thought about that, too. Maybe she's trying to look insane as she slumps and hides behind her hair and sticks her fingers in her ears.

It’s pretty obvious AS is reading questions off at some points. LS too self absorbed to notice though it seems.

I noticed that, too, and I was amazed at how self-absorbed LS was that Al's questions didn't seem to send up any red flags until near the end.

As soon as I heard the phone call, I knew her goose was cooked. Listen to all those made up stories. Fake stories but never once told Al she was having any kind of mental issues. Just obsessed with Gannon pooping himself and her fake candle story.

What is up with her mentioning more than once that he was "peeling his fingernails"? More and more this thing is sounding like deliberate torture. Did she purposely burn him, pull out fingernails, do something to his bottom? I am chilled to the core by this.

I think so. And, I hate thinking about that but "bubbles" on both arms? He was deliberately burned. And, blood coming out of his 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬? That, too indicates she did something to him because Al said Gannon would have a "drop" of blood occasionally from having a very large or hard stool. But nothing along the "bleeding" lines.

The fingernail thing is also worrisome. Perhaps he was peeling them just out of pain, but she might have done something there, too.

I'm sure we'll never get a straight story out of her, but I think everyone in that courtroom and everyone listening in understands what she did.

Just horrific.

Agreed 100%. You have summed up my increasing fears.

I think she showed how absolutely sane and evil she is during that call and it was a blow for the defence.

Unless the jurors in this county are as stupid as those in Pinellas County, I don’t see how she has a path to exoneration here.

Absolutely agree. She. hurt that LE officer in her escape attempt in El Paso. She is very dangerous.

I think the injury happened in the Kansas attempt, the one she's not been tried for. I think things didn't progress past the serious planning stage for the El Paso Co broom escape attempt.

Can anyone help me out? I'm wanting to watch updates (without having to watch the live feed of the trial) and I cannot find anyone covering it - tried Banfield last night and it was the college murders, Vallow trial and something else. Thanks!

What is everyone's opinion on how hard the defense is going to when questioning Al?
Personally, I think they need to not push their luck or risk losing all hope of winning the NGRI defense in the 1st day of testimony.

Thank you @Pianoturtle, and sorry @Warwick7 for quoting the incorrect Interstate!

Never mind that I drive across the I-90 Lacey V. Murrow Bridge almost daily (floating bridge crossing Lake Washington), don't ask me (or @Ontario Mom) if I-90 doesn't also exist in Florida! ;)
I'm confused, lol. The Escambia Bridge is on highway 90, according to the map.

I’m not sure they will question anyone, although I guess they must. But they could not be charged with ineffective counsel. They have no defense. They know it. LS knows it.

If they intend to convince the jury that she was insane during the time she murdered Gannon, they'll also have to prove that you can flip the insane/sane button on and off like a switch, considering...

Everything she did up to the moment she murdered him (much of it based on her own words in those phone calls with Al), plus all her digital data that will be introduced, then the monumental "overkill" of the murder, and then immediately (not hours or days, but literally immediately after), cleaned up and prepared a lie/cover story for where he was. And then, to have the store change repeatedly?

If I'm on the jury, there's no way I'm buying she accidentally went insane, killed a defenseless child, then snapped out of it and covered it all up best she could. Not a chance. She knew exactly what she was doing, the entire time.
