What did the doctor think when Letecia said "she created these personalities"? That's not how DID separate personalities are, they're not controlled by the individual, they may not be aware of different personalites or alters can be very random, they aren't controlled so the person doesn't say I'm going to go into this personality state. (Letecia says the personalities were her creations and that is not DID symptoms.)​

She would have gaps in her memory. Missing time and not know why.

I will say, a lot of current thinking about DID as a trauma response is that 'splitting' into multiple selves has to start happening before about seven to nine years of age. I'm not saying it's impossible, but twelve would be very late, almost too late for current theories.

Also, though the 'imaginary friend come real' or 'deliberate creation' source isn't unheard of for some selves in some systems, it is far far more common for there to be amnesia barriers between most selves of varying degrees of opacity, for creation of selves and switching between them to be largely involuntary, and for many people in a system to be unaware of each other, at least at first. Occasionally you'll have a self that's a gatekeeper, memory keeper or inner self helper that has greater access to memory and awareness of many of the selves in a system, but even they don't generally know everything or everyone infallibly.

She seems to have continuity of memory. She seems to think selves are like hats. Like acting roles. She's talking about not being 'able to hit left handed if I'm in that personality'. While selves can have differences in handedness, she's talking about herself having differences in handedness.

These are all just my impressions and opinions as a person with a dissociative disorder who has read a very large amount on the subject. I am not a psych of any kind. MOO
