The murder trial for #LeteciaStauch is resuming now. I'll be bringing you updates from the courtroom throughout the day.

The first witness to be called to the stand this morning is Dr. Jackie Grimmett. She worked as a forensic psychologist at the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo in 2020. Dr. Grimmett conducted a competency evaluation on Letecia Stauch in December 2020.

Dr. Grimmett said she met with Letecia Stauch for about 3 hours and 40 minutes. This was a court-ordered competency evaluation requested by the defense.

Twilight :D of all the fantastic Vampire movies there are out there, she picks Twilight ffs
Just goes to show how immature she is.

Am I hearing correctly that this witness has indicated that Leticia is NOT Bipolar?

Do these professionals have a scale to measure how full of sh*@ she is? Good cripes! I shouldn't be surprised by her stories but yet I kinda am.

Dr. Grimmett is doing a very well on the stand and really knows her stuff. Certainly worlds better than Dr. Mohr yesterday.

LS said she was introduced to a vampire called Justice. Justice, Jasper, or possibly Patrick. She said she met with the vampire in her cell by pushing a button. She said she was first introduced to vampires while living in Alaska. She then directed the witness to the movie Twilight and the vampire council in the movie.

(Jasper is the name of a vampire in the Twilight series, BTW.)
Wow! That’s quite the tale.

Good Morning. This is what I'm seeing on my two open channels. Letecia hasn't looked up to show her hairdo to me yet. :)

Unspecified PD with Narcissistic and Borderline symptoms?

Her behavior is "quite consistent" with Borderline PD and with Narcissistic PD.

According to this expert.

(The not wanting a social worker, instead demanding a more "educated" person is so classic for NPD).

She was approached by the DEFENSE to conduct the second competency evaluation.
I'm assuming the defense didn't agree with Dr. Grimmett's professional opinion.
If I recall correctly, pursuant to the defense motion for a 2nd evaluation (opinion), Grimmet responded to the Court Order but the defense was fighting her all along over whether or not the evaluation could be recorded. Take note that after NGRI was entered, the defendant loses all privacy and all medical records are available. This evaluation by Grimmet was prior to NGRI.

In my experience, it's not unusual for the defense expert to become a star witness for the prosecution at trial and this is a good example.

I previously posted a Colorado case where the defense expert at trial became an expert witness for the state during the appeal and opined that they believed they had been fooled by the defendant earlier (when first evaluated). MOO

ETA: Grimmet just stated she's never seen a patient/subject with DID. IMO, this is because DID is extremely rare.

Her goal is to determine 'is there a barrier to competency'.

On the bipolar LS reported. The first interview offered a 'rule out' for bipolar, not enough information to diagnose. She talked to her indepth. Her described experiences did not meet the criteria for bipolar, therefore she ruled it out.

On the DID. LS claimed lost time and that she had other personalities. Named Taylor, Tecia, Yasmin, Jasper. Didn't mention Victoria, Harmony, Taylor, Little Lucia, or Maria Sanchez. Witness saw no signs of identity disturbance. Found nothing in her history that suggested major dysfunction. The names were 'chosen for things she liked or aspired to' which was inconsistent with the diagnosis. No information she was a 'high consumer of mental health services' or that family members had expressed concern or sought help for her.

It's not sufficient to be mentally ill, it has to impact the person severely enough to be a mental disability to be incompetent.

She said she had a button in her cell to summon vampires, that she met them in Alaska where they go door to door like JWs. She took the names from the movie Twilight.

It was notable that she said that she had been interfacing with these vampires since Alaska but had never mentioned them to previous assessors or people at the jail. She had nothing 'unique to the individual', she had just taken them straight from the movie.

Was coherent, just gave far too much information than was necessary to answer the question.

Above the threshold on 'feigning' screening test. Anything above six suggests feigning. She got 12. If she'd got above sixteen it would have been unnecessary to do further screening. On another test she got high on one scale but overall was undetermined.

It seemed LS was presenting symptoms she didn't seem to have. Was more competent than she wanted to appear.

Personality dysfunction, unspecified disorder with borderline and narcissistic features, didn't meet the threshold for diagnosis. Asked for a rule out for PTSD. Would not have reached the functional impairment level necessary for incompetency with any of these diagnoses.

Breaking down her manipulation and grandiosity.

I would love to see the faces of the Jurors while listening to this vampire stuff.

Gotta tell ya, if I was a juror, it would have been really hard not to laugh out, snort with derision or something.
