I've been reading back posts. Did I understand right, today's first witness is a forensic psychologist the defense contacted for a second opinion in competency? But she’s testifying as a prosecution witness?
Really??!
If I recall correctly, pursuant to the defense motion for a 2nd evaluation (opinion), Grimmet responded to the Court Order but the defense was fighting her all along over whether or not the evaluation could be recorded. Take note that after NGRI was entered, the defendant loses all privacy and all medical records are available. This evaluation by Grimmet was prior to NGRI.

In my experience, it's not unusual for the defense expert to become a star witness for the prosecution at trial and this is a good example.

I previously posted a Colorado case where the defense expert at trial became an expert witness for the state during the appeal and opined that they believed they had been fooled by the defendant earlier (when first evaluated). MOO

ETA: Grimmet just stated she's never seen a patient/subject with DID. IMO, this is because DID is extremely rare.

Good for you taking time for some self-care. xoxo We appreciate you and all that you do!
Really really glad there's a rest day tomorrow. I've come to the realisation that I'm inching up on autistic burnout, and I very much want to avoid that. I will be listening and commenting till the end of trial, because I'm still deeply interested and invested, but I am towards the end of my reserves. I have to remember that I spent the last eight months clawing my way back from long COVID to something approaching normality for me. I don't want to be back where I was even four months ago because I'm too boneheaded to listen to myself.

I need a gif with a rainbow and the words selfcare in flowing calligraphy. You can all imagine it, I'm too tired to google one. :D

Actually, it's not the "prisons" but during DOC reception/intake where the newly convicted typically have their heads shaved. This is the clearing house where inmates transition from jail to DOC before they are sent to their permanent homes. Once the inmate gets to theiry prison (such as the Watts example), they typically have hair again and no longer appear clean-shaven heads.

There's been much reported about this in the Murdaugh thread. MOO

Yes, I followed that. I can still say that this is not the case in California. If there are lice outbreaks, then administrators can decide to shear everyone, citing health reasons. I think there are limits on how long hair can be, though (throughout their stay unless they are in a special setting, like a psychiatric unit).

CO definitely makes men shave their beards but I can't find any clear indication of whether they also require all male prisoners to have their heads shaved.

//Arkansas prisons do not require “shaved heads or short crew cuts,” Justice Alito wrote, and so “it is hard to see why an inmate would seek to hide contraband in a half-inch beard rather than in the longer hair on his head.”//

From:

I'm still trying to dig up anything specific for CO. But if you say their DOC was still doing it in 2018, I'm going to rely on that information until I can find anything more recent. In VA, prisoners may refuse the haircut (but then get sent into a higher security facility, so not exactly a win).

//
Though no federal law mandates the practice, state prisons make their own rules. In fact, the Federal Bureau of Prisons does not require head shaving for incarcerated people, and they can choose how they want to wear their hair and even have it long as long as they keep it clean and hygienic.

New York has ruled it unconstitutional as well:

Definitely a state-by-state and even prison-by-prison method. I have to say I wish they would use it equally between the sexes.

At this stage of the trial, Judge Werner was simply advising LS of her right to testify and not that this was a done deal. The next time it's addressed again will be before the defense rests, and Werner will ask her for her answer.
Yep, got that after a few fevered minutes. I am very tired and it is my first trial. It got my heart racing for a moment there!

I was talking to an old friend of ours about this, and we agreed that we would bet the farm on Letecia not taking the stand. We all saw the “Cousin ITT interview, see how she behaves in court, and the fact that Werner basically has to have her dragged there, says it all.

I've been thinking the opposite. But, now that you said it like that, well, ya, you guys I bet are right.

The moment you posted this, I sent it to my printer, printed it out, and stuck it to my wall in my field of vision. I'm telling you the honest truth, I'm looking at it right now. Thank you for helping to remind me to take care of myself.

Ashley posted two more tweets one hour ago. ;) BBM

The #LeteciaStauch murder trial will resume on Friday morning at 9 a.m. Testimony from Dr. Torres will continue, and more video will be played for jurors of her sanity evaluation on Stauch. One more witness called by prosecutors will be testifying too.

The prosecution could rest their case on Friday or Monday. I spoke with Letecia Stauch’s attorneys today, who said they’re calling their two witnesses to testify on Monday. Therefore jurors could reach a verdict in the trial sometime next week.

The states most brilliant move today, IMO was them using T's own claims of 'Maria in the Van Ride From Hell' story. All while knowing that very shortly we (and the jury ) will see the new improved spiced up version of Russian killer Maria, complete with Hispanic accent on the screen. The state must know that Dr Lewis will be doing all she can to promote the dastardly evil Maria. In giving the jury the not so subtle but direct hit of watching the Go-Pro video from the van again....with T's southern accent loud and proud on display.
When Dr Lewis finally gets on the stand to tell her side of things, the jury will be surely giving her the old side-eye.
Thanks for confirming that I wasn’t dreaming when Dr. Torres said that what she saw on LE bodycam or dash cam was NOT the Maria that she saw on Dr. Lewis recorded interview!

I actually hollered “ We’re going to meet Maria!”

I’m so excited. And I just can’t hide it!

Sometimes I feel guilty about making jokes. But I know none of us have ever lost sight that this is absolutely about Justice for Gannon.

And if we get to find a little humor ( or maybe we’re just really appalled) at her expense, I think it’s a fine coping mechanism as we see her taken down.

Every day I just think about Landen, Laina and the other loved ones.

Trial ended for the day about 15 minutes ago, Torres’ testimony will resume on Friday with more clips from her forensic interview with Stauch. Michael Allen said there’s only one more prosecution witness after Torres.

Prior to being dismissed for the day, informed Judge Gregory Werner that the prosecution intends to rest its case on Monday at the latest, but potentially by Friday. Sounds like next week could be the final week of Stauch’s trial.

I agree and think theres a good chance she will. We can count on another full week of court if she does lol.

You think she will be finished in a week?
Dream on.

Sorry, I missed this was specific to Colorado and replied as generally practiced by state prisons (DOC), and not the federal system (BOP).

Here's the link to Colorado's intake for both men and women. After a quick glance -- seems the page is silent on hair:

Another recent link by NBC on "Why Some Inmates Shave Their Heads Before Going to Prison:"

O/T-- CA recently banned facial hair for all DOC staffers.
