I think even those of us who heard it (or who heard part of it, like me) are wondering WTH too. Shaaaaaady stuff.

MOO

Help, I don’t understand what just happened. Not kidding. Can somebody explain it to me like I’m a three year old. Any fifth graders available?
Same here!!
So are there repercussions??
Or did they just move on?
I can't watch today---I am relying heavily on posts here.

I wondered if Dr Lewis got worried and felt she better meet one on one before she put her neck on the line.

Wikipedia (I know, it's only wikipedia) mentions that these percentages/stats have come from a small study in Noth America. If that's the case it's easy to see that much of the psychiatrist/psychology profession around the world may not agree with these figures. Wiki again makes mention of the 'sceptical' psychs having complained that most of the diagnoses have originated from the Dr Lewis types of psychologists. i,e a relative minority of psychologists diagnose it.

This trial is in the US, and worse than that; it's in Colorado where they have this unusual position regarding burden of proof re insanity. And because it's in the US they're stuck with US psychologists. It is what it is' but as someone from the UK the whole thing is very frustrating. This nonsense wouldn't fly for one minute in our courts, and plenty of our psychologists would be happy to say why they don't even believe that DID is a real thing; still less that it could lead someone to undertake three or more separate and different ways to harm/murder someone AND to know they needed to start cleaning up.
I am from the Uk (lived in Canada for 14 years) and I can remember when most psychologists refused to admit that borderline personality was even a thing.

What is this video going to show?!

  • #527
He should! She already showed her disrespect for the court by not filing her report in good time, in fact she filed it by the seat of her pants, right before the judge said if he didn't get it in around 2 days it would be out.
This is actually a disgrace.

The trouble is, once she has said it, everybody has heard it, doesn't matter if there's an objection, doesn't matter if the judge says the jury will disregard it, you can't unring a bell.

This isn't on, she shouldn't be allowed to testify at all. JMO

It was HER that was holding up due process all the time?!
Ugh!
And now, meeting with LS, NOT COOL!
There needs to be repercussions!
Ohhhhhhh

Video we haven't seen before!

Re: the meeting, we don't know much at the moment. It seems like prosecution were blindsided by this too and raised it before the jury came in this morning. The judge did not seem overly impressed by it, but prosecution requested to overlook the notes during PM break ie before the witness takes the stand. Judge accepted this and explained to both sides that it is far, far too late for anything different noted in yesterdays meeting to be used as evidence as it has not been submitted within the correct time frame.

Please correct me if I'm wrong on any parts - that's what my understanding was.

I find it impossible to believe that Dr Lewis's view of the defendant was not altered by a 3 hour meeting. If she used that meeting to cement her own understanding of LS, then it's unfair that the State doesn't get to know what she found out. She had to have found out something, they weren't discussing the weather.

I am still wondering if they had ever met before or if Dr Lewis communicated via video conferencing with LS up until last night. If Dr Lewis used any type of psychiatric expertise in her meeting with LS last night, isn't that a breach of the discovery process? How could she not use her expertise? Why else would she be there?

IMO.

Unknown at this time. Prosecution don't know what the meeting was about yet and will review documents during afternoon break. The judge was clear that many things would discount this meeting. We don't know more yet.

What does that mean?

What does that mean?
I didn't catch the specifics, but basically anything new from that meeting cannot be used - I believe.

From what I caught... Dr Lewis met with LS for three hours at the jail yesterday. There was no recording made. To say this is unconventional is understatement, since she's already submitted her report.

Thank you so much for all the generously typed up info during this whole trial. I’m old and it’s gets harder and harder to keep up sometimes. You’re super for helping out.
Maybe. But not with Harley. She would have been in her late teens then. I'm talking about early to mid-teens. I've seen speculation here but it's only speculation. And if it happened, who is supposed to be the father?
JMO
Can you help me with about what years you would be talking about?

How would anyone ever know if any of Dr. Lewis's thoughts on LS were "new"?

Completely this! You can't tell me that yesterday's meeting doesn't somehow influence her thoughts of the previous meeting, thereby making any testimony from her biased in some way.
