Opinion time:

Do you find these tactical gear/gun websites scary? Anyone can buy from them. Thoughts?

OK...that is much more ominous than what was described as a "Number 1 inside of a circle with an infinity sign"

Yes, that is technically what it is. But it looks much more evil - or something! That gives me chills!

Just catching up.

Regarding the Vicoden. No, Dr. Fenton would not have prescribed it - at least not legally.

However, it is a VERY WIDELY recreational drug...and for a college student, SUPER easy to acquire. I am not saying it wasn't prescibed to him at some point - he could have had dental pain or any number of reasons he could have received it.

But it shouldn't be a shock to anyone he had it if it wasn't prescribed. Just as easy as getting marijuana. Of course, in CO it is now even easier to get that, since you can go to the corner store to pick some up. LOL!! But back then, it would have been no more difficult for a college student to get pot or Vicoden.

as for marijuana stores they are generally hidden away from the crowd--(at least in Washington--they have to be away from schools) & expensive (just threw that in there that I only am aware of due to the news reports

It's a very powerful drug..and yes it has a history of prescription abuse... Link which gives you all of it's affects!! oh yeah..Whomever prescribed it best have a damn good reason for perscibing it!!!!!

http://www.drugs.com/vicodin.html

I also found this interesting youtube video which could very well explain how JH could appear to have dilated pupils..He seems to have mastered many behaviour/ body controls thru his mind...watch this short video and see what you think~~

voluntary pupil dilation
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDK84mP5ZAw

I got this from Wikipedia:

Natural release of the hormone oxytocin can cause mild to moderate mydriasis. Strong sexual arousal can often lead to very enlarged pupils, rather than the minor dilation observed during sexual affection. [n 1

Could he have been aroused by what he had just done?

YES!! Beyond disturbing! No reason that the common citizen needs tear gas to clear a room, body armor, etc. There is nothing good that can come from using that stuff.

If police want to say they need to be able to access it for training - fine. Then you need to be able to supply your Badge number and have it verified through your department before shipping.

None of those things are used for self-defense, IMO. I can't think of anything related to self defense that you could need those things for!

When I think of someone being insane I imagine them just grabbing a weapon and going into some crazed attack. I would never have thought it could be something so meticulously planned and carried out.

Thanks so much. I really appreciate it. I'm probably one of the very few who feel really bad for his parents as well. Losing a son to this disease ( like a death) plus living with the fact their son killed and hurt all these innocent innocent people and their families. The wiring in the brain is very intricate and someone with this disease has completely screwed up wiring. I agree with defense that someone with severe mental illness can do this kind of planning as it progresses. listening to the voices and delusions they believe are real. When he said the psychiatrist programmed him to kill. I believe he was believing his delusions. If you've ever been to a mental hospital most severe mentally ill believe they are a celebrity on tv, being spied on by the CIA or being programmed by someone like the government. This is all too familiar. I believe the female psychiatrist (Fenton) should have had him put on a 5150 psychiatric hold than a 5250 and so on. He told her he wanted to kill people that is a homicidal thought that was enough to put him on the 5150 hold and have him committed. He was reaching out and no one did anything. Those are the conditions to put someone on a involuntary hold. Homicidal or suicidal thoughts. I hold those psychiatrist at the college liable too. They did nothing. When he dropped out of school that should have been a big red flag. If JH was mad at the school why didn't he shoot up the teachers and students of the college? I think his mind was deteriorating and that's why he was doing so badly at school. That kind of change is a sign. When he was looking down at his desk according to the witness staring through it. I believe he was listening to the voices and delusions in his head. Like my son he always listened to his headphones with that loud deep techno music trying to drown out the voices in his head. He would cover his head with pillows too. This should have never gone to trial. JH clearly has severe mental illness that eventually took over. He should be in a hospital. IMHO

That may be true. In California and Washington both, when it was just available medically, the stores were right out on Front Street (as they say). They were not hidden at all, in a strip mall or business building. LOL! I know that for a fact, because I had a prescription when I lived in those states. Sadly, I moved. And my narcotic pain medication usage increased remarkably! Sad. Now I don't take anything, and I suffer every hour of every day. I wouldn't have to if I could still access medicinal marijuana.

And yes...it is EXPENSIVE! LOL!! At least my pain meds were paid for by insurance. I don't think anyone has been able to get insurance to pay for their pot! HA!

Sure...Pupil dilation is in response to either medically applied adrenalin or body production of it..It's easy to envoke for someone like JH..He's so cerebral he's quite capable of sensing anxiety or fear using his higher brain..Actual drugs are not necessary given the many times JH was described as having blown pupils...It's as per his personality in HIS CONTROL..whether how he interacts with people or when forced to do something he is anxious about....Either way..He is fully in control of his "Outward" actions..tho his eye's may tell the tale......

I was always taught..the eye's are the "Windows to the Soul"..and if I saw someone with large pupils..It told me this person is either on meds..or else he/she is HIDING something...Very valuable people reader knowledge..especially as a Triage Nurse...:happydance:

I also agree that Lynne Fenton and the other staff seriously let JH down. He did ask for help. Why she let him walk away is beyond me. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I was her.

What is your opinion on mental illness vs insanity? Could he have known what he was about to do was wrong?

Hard to disagree with you, since you are living your own truth. And I can only imagine how difficult each day is for you. Sending gentle hugs...I understand why you would want to watch this trial, but I would just caution you to not allow it to upset you. You certainly don't need any extra stress...

Very interesting! I will be watching everyone's eyes from now on!

Here's a question. When pupils are super dilated like that, does it cause blurred vision? When I have my Diabetic Retinal scan done they use drops to dilate my pupils. I can't see properly for hours afterwards. Is this the same when your eyes dilate that big on their own?
