How can they say he was insane when he planned this attack so meticulously?!

I think they're going to go with the schizophrenia heavily. I don't know how far the defense will take this.

Reading stories about people with schizophrenia, they can function in daily living with medication. However, the patients say that the 'visual & audible hallucinations are still present with them but they tend to play on in the back of their mind. One described it as 'imagine a large screen TV playing constantly even as you're walking around or trying to talk with someone'. They will incorporate what they're seeing & hearing into their life or conversations with others.
An example I read, a girl is talking about eating lunch with her father & then says 'can the cat eat hot dogs too?' While being 'with her father' in the moment, at the same time she is seeing & hearing a cat talking with her.

Since Holmes doesn't have social skills & didn't seem to communicate with people much anyway, no one saw or heard him displaying these behaviors. They really only have the psych, Fenton & the notebook to document what he was 'seeing & hearing' in his head, BEFORE the shootings. We will find out if he actually said or wrote that 'something or someone was telling him to kill people'. Son of Sam said that, then years later he said, 'yeah, I just made that up'. Anyway, without proof that he was hallucinating during this at least, 4 mon. period, I don't see how the defense can prove it. They have the diagnosis AFTER the shootings, while in jail, while on heavy meds, but how can they prove schizophrenia before & at the time of shooting?

He could have 'lost it' after he shot all the people & realized his life was over now that he was caught. IMO
Just some thoughts of mine.

To tack on to the notebook thing...how can they prove he wasn't "faking" everything he wrote in there? Or everything he told Dr. Fenton? This plan was in place for a long time - and what's to say his plan included acting Schizophrenic...which he got from his education??

And while he didn't communicate a lot...I haven't heard anyone say that when he did communicate, it was anything weird. He never talked about talking to cats, or wanting to feed hot dogs to cats. (I know my dogs LOVE hot dogs...do cats? LOL)

I think that will say a lot to the jury. But I guess until we actually hear from Dr. Fenton, we won't know anything for sure.

Interesting! The prosecutor wants to get in that the person buying the ticket DOES NOT KNOW the theater until the ticket is Purchased!

Well well, that answers a question we all had here! He WAS indeed targeting #9? Or at least didn't want #8

ETA: Double checking I'm posting this in the right thread :seeya: corundog

Back on the record.

Edmunds is asking to recall the Fandango employee to ask a follow up to one of the jury questions.

Basically, when do they know what theater they are getting. Which of course would explain why the 3 tickets.

OH NO! One of the jurors might have been asleep...for as much as 5 minutes!!!!!!

Juror 378 is a woman in her late 50s with grey hair. Was a paramedic for 20 years.

Being brought in now for questioning...

@larryryckman: Juror 378 says she is "perplexed" when judge calls her into the courtroom. Were you asleep?

It sounds to me like she is sleeping. She couldn't really give a straight answer.

Well...both PT and DT don't care. So apparently, she is gonna stay!

@larryryckman: Juror says she doesn't think she has been sleeping in the #theatershooting courtroom. Juror says "sometimes I get a little bored with it."

@larryryckman: Juror 378 before the trial expressed reservations about how the outcome of the case will be perceived by the public.

@larryryckman: Juror assured judge she hasn't slept in the #theatershooting courtroom. Judge says he has no reason not to believe juror.
