I definitely think KB was controlled by PF. She had no family, assuming no friends in CO given her long work hours and I can assume the majority of her free time was spent with Baby K. PF met her online, physically moved her from her home and close knit family, and within months conceived an "oopsie" baby and I imagine she learned quickly that it wasn't going to work out, but she loved her job and made such an extensive commute daily so that Baby K could still be in her father's life, because she was a good, selfless person and wanted a stable life for her daughter.
I also imagine that she realized quickly he was also not committed to her and his refusal to leave his mother's nest added additional strain to their relationship. I just think she never had a chance from the get-go and it breaks my heart. He had all kinds of connections from ranching and the rodeo circuit, as well as his brother in LE in Colorado Springs. If she caught wind of any behavior, he probably threatened her and shut her down. She had no one to talk to as her parents would've worried sick being states away.
I'm just rambling over this whole thing due to the absence of news reports, but I just think she was a true victim from the beginning and that he chose her fate long before "September 2018." I think he felt KB was a roadblock to being a free man once the unexpected pregnancy arose. JMO.
I think she was controlled. That is, any therapist would have pointed it out to her, but she herself did not see it. Maybe she did not have enough experience with men, or perhaps she looked at positive things. He probably was not on drugs, not an alcoholic, a Christian or came across as such. I think she made all these check marks and did not notice the negatives.
Another thing is, she was more or less tied up in this situation. I think she would feel too proud being an unwed mom back home, the same pride would prevent her from saying, "you are not seeing the kid unless I have a ring on my finger", like some other women would. So she moved to the place where she did not know anyone and had zero help, and by doing this, she had to give up too many points.
For example, why buy a house next to him and commute over an hour each way? The message was, she was an ambitious person working at her career. It might have been very different; she stayed with a big company, among other reasons, for insurance for herself and the baby, and because PF definitely refused to move or contribute to a daycare, she had to commute each way, daily, to be closer to her kid.
Interestingly, no one has ever asked this question. An infant needs insurance, visits to a pediatrician, shots. Who paid for the insurance for KB and baby K? Were they on PF's insurance, or was it provided by DOSS?
If it was from DOSS, here is a totally different outlook on the situation. KB might have not stayed with them merely for the dream job, but also, because as the big company, they provided medical insurance.
Etc, etc. She was controlled by the situation. And spreading herself too thin by being a mom and working as the pilot. And then of course, this gave PF the reason to say that he was the main provider because IRL, he did nothing to help KB.
