Again, Investigator Slater introduced a photograph of the row of haystacks, in the barn, viewed from above. The stack KKL identified clearly had a darker spot where the tote had been. As MassGuy explained, hay is organic material. When pressed in the weight of plastic like that, it releases moisture which begins the molding / rotting process under the tote. As soon as it is exposed to the air again, the mold /rot dies and turns black. KKL described PF using a tractor to retrieve it, which we believe was similar to the picture.
Dave can I add that KB body still had heat in it for several hours that could contribute to the discoloration.

You have to wonder where exactly Krystal was when she got this phone call. I know she was with her family, as her Dad said she was there and that she acted fine (just like Patrick at his Mom's house). I mean, how do you talk about something like this after eating turkey and trimmings and pie? How do you look at the rest of the family after such a call, and act like nothing's wrong? How do you explain this unexpected trip back to Colorado for the fourth time in less than two months time to your family and friends? You can only get away with the "checking on our horse" story for so long. I just can't imagine me saying "sure, no problem, be there Saturday morning for the clean up, thanks for calling and Happy T-day to you, Patrick!"

How do you bow your head and pray at the Thanksgiving table?

As much as I want the defense to get rocked in court, I am looking forward to a question like this:

“So Mrs. Kenney, after spending four hours cleaning up Kelsey’s teeth and blood, you stopped by Sonic for a meal? What did you order?

And after watching the defendant allegedly burn Kelsey’s remains in a fire, you took a nap and ate pizza?!”

Sounds pretty cold to me.

Thank you. So he put her in the black plastic tote and hoisted her onto the haystack. Then he picked her up from the haystack with KK and burned the case and her body in an incinerator on his mother's property?

Plausible and possible?

Deleted by me.

Here is what a 100 gallon metal water trough for cattle looks like. Its dimensions are 2 ft. tall, 2 ft. wide, and 48" (4ft.) long. Not very big. I think the blood in the bathroom is because she was partially dismembered to get her in the black tote and then this trough. It just would have been easier to manage her body that way. I hope I am wrong. (Gotta click on the pic to see the wrong thing).

KK did one smart thing in hiring the attorney before she told the whole, ugly, sordid story. She is far from smart, so I'm assuming one of the people she blabbed to early on told her, "You need to get a good lawyer". Imagine the charges she would be facing if she just told LE everything she knew up front. MOO

Probably got that advice from the Rs, through M. However, I think she's smart enough to know to get a lawyer when in such trouble and the cops are searching her house.

I like it. But, the WM Transfer station was Dec. 18, I believe - almost a month later. We need Walmart, ENC Bank, and the Nash Ranch (all 11/22) and maybe Sonic, Conoco, and the Nash Ranch again (all 11/24). :)
MOO

ETA: Thank you, always love your maps!

Round-ish?
Yes, roundish. A 100 gallon trough is what the affadavit stated. They called it round, but 100 gallon trough's are small. They are rounded on the ends. Larger ones are really round. 100 gallons are sort of oblong. At least most that I have seen are like that.

If I recall correctly, it was reported as discolored, not molding or rotting. I don’t think it would begin rotting after just two days. I’ve attached a random photo of hay stacks in a barn for reference.

This is my first post and I have lurked these forums for years. I’m finally posting because I’m reading so many why would KK drive 8 hours to clean up posts so I want to throw my opinion in.
In my opinion, she was the smarter of the two and supportive of the murder from the start. She cleverly left Easter eggs to keep herself out of jail should she feel like she was going down for it though.
For instance, she didn’t share with her sister or closest friends she was involved in a murder plot but she did purposely tell someone who worked for an attorney if I remember correctly, well before the actual Murder took place. To me this was her idea of establishing that she was a poor soul who didn’t know what to do. These people didn’t really know the people involved so less chance they would go right to the police and attorneys tend to be tight lipped due to attorney privilege but she knew she could go back and say she was seeking help and that privilege would be broken. She visited multiple times delivering coffee and lying about who she was to gain access and develop a relationship. Pf just called and said you have a mess to clean up and she wasn’t frantic. She knew to go get a hazmat suit from the hospital, shoe covers etc. She had thought this out. Maybe she even got the hazmat suit before the Murder even took place because she wasn’t at work when he called. This was probably her “job” in the crime. Cleanup. She purposely left blood in several spots that she could identify later. Now she says she wanted him to get caught, but why not leave more obvious things like the tooth if she really wanted it known he did it? She helped burn the body and destroy evidence. It wasn’t until she felt like the police were onto the phone that she turned on PF. She is literally getting away with a murder rap and I’m sure the LE know, but without a body at least they could get one conviction with her plea deal. She wasn’t manipulated and either was he! They both wanted her dead. Period.
She was just smart enough to set it up like she was another PF victim. So to answer the why. She wanted to.
They deserve each other.

Investigator Greg Slater of the CBI stated that Verizon originally tracked the two phones moved together from Woodland Park toward Cripple Creek. I think our Tweeters in the colurtroom missed what he actually said, which was "toward The Cripple Creek Turnoff". US 24 literally divides at the town of Divide, with the Colorado State Highway 61 to Cripple Creek veering off left and US24 continuing straight westward. As they turned southward following State Highway 11, then State Highway 102 to State Highway 85 south to the Dave Nash Ranch. I'm assuming the hay barn is reached by taking the second turnoff to the left.
The residential buildings of the ranch appear to be way down State Highway 85, the last turnoff to the left before the highway deadends in a gravel pit. On Google Earth, if you look northwest of those residential buildings, there is a straight strip of once graded land heading diagonally northwest. That strip is actually an FAA listed airfield ......Nash Ranch Airport. IMO

Do you know what the deal is with PF having access to the barn and forklift out there? Is it some kind of co-op for ranchers?
