I don’t think we’re going to be that lucky here.
The evidence is incredibly strong, but PF is a man with nothing to lose.
Watts likely did it to save face, and perhaps because of fear of the death penalty (even though any fear was misguided).
They had Patterson dead to rights, to include a living victim, and confession.
PF is most likely looking at life in prison, or life in prison.
Unless the DA does something surprising, there isn’t an incentive to deal.
He lawyered up early, kept his mouth shut, and seems like the fighting type.
Atleast at trial, he won’t have a baseball bat.
The prosecution sure will though.
BBMFF:
I know we're beating a dead horse here with the Death Penalty argument, but since PF isn't here, somebody else has to do it.
Even though executions are rarely carried out, the fact that the threat of the proverbial sword is dangling over the prisoner's head every moment of every day for the rest of his life still makes the DP sentence a more potent punishment than LWOP.
There's a huge psychological impact to constantly living in a state of ambiguity.
And, as we all know, there's nothing but ambiguity surrounding Colorado's Death Penalty.
Imagine how awful that would be, not knowing whether your sentence would or would not in fact be carried out.
Most people dislike uncertainty in situations. It creates feelings of anxiety.
People like PF who crave control REALLY hate ambiguity.
It would be the perfect punishment for him.
Psychologically, there's a world of difference between being sentenced to death and being sentenced to life.
I'd really love to see PF suffer the worst possible fate here.
Because that's what he meted out to KB.
KB didn't deserve it.
PF does.
C'mon, Dan. Go get this guy. Stick the needle in his arm.
