A new dawn, a new day...another potential incident or three of significance...Parker police are looking for a drive-by pellet gun shooter who struck 3 times last night...this article mentions a gold or tan older model sedan car...

Thanks for noticing that, SearchinGirl. This series makes me wonder again if there isn't some cultural element to the random on road shootings we've been seeing in Colorado, but it doesn't seen to have much in common otherwise with the window shattering incidents we've been focusing on. Parker is about ten miles southeast of Denver, well south of the typical window shattering incidents we've been looking at. The projectiles involved sound like Airsoft pellets - little plastic or rubber balls typically 6 mm in diameter and weighing about .2 grams. Pretty harmless. (The reporter's description notwithstanding, these aren't the 'rubber bullets' of the type sometimes used against rioters.)

How y'all doin'?

<abridge with respect>

Ok. This may seem o/t, but check this out. One of the latest "shattering victims", in a SEMI (the second SEMI recently), fully believes in his opinion that real ammunition and a scope was used. He is also basically saying in his opinion that there is a cover up here, and attributes the downplay of all this to the potential negative effect on Colorado's tourism $dollars$ (links upstream). (Also, ski season is around the corner...)

However, IMO tourism and dollars are UP, in addition to a gaziiilion percent state revenue increase with legal marijuana (of course we want to keep it that way ). Many people are moving here for various reasons, with prices already super high even befooore legal pot lol, and continually rising astronomically. I know the latest financial stats I read re: our state's POT income alone is off the charts (not to mention trying to buy a house up here); what I'm trying to say, I don't think its that (the silence/coverup being related to the effect on tourism, though a good thought and entirely possible); I think its something else, like deeper than we can imagine or maybe even need to know...Hatfield has had some great thoughts on this imo in recent posts, jmo.

The circles in the map below represent sales by county. The great majority of the NOCO shooter case area fits into Weld and Larimer counties, at the top edge of the state - the ones with the moderately sized circles.

From the Washington Post, under this headline:
Colorado’s legal weed market: $700 million in sales last year, $1 billion by 2016 in a story by By Christopher Ingraham:

I'm embarrassed to say that I don't know if you can have secret arrests in the US. Can you help us here, Prairiewind?

My money, however, is still on the more straightforward theory that they just haven't identified anyone yet. Looking at other cases of deliberate highway shootings has convinced me that they are very hard to solve if the perp remains cautious. The key to solving them always seems to be the sharp eyes of an average Joe or Jane catching something. (Or SearchinGirl catching it on her GoPro.) Pretty much as Foxfire has been telling us from the get go.

Many times in high profile or terror related crimes, law enforcement will arrest POIs or Suspects for unrelated crimes in an attempt to hold them while awaiting lab results and continued investigations. I have a hunch that this may be the case in the NOCO shooter investigation.. jmo

Generally you can't have "secret arrests" in the U.S. If someone has been arrested, the charging documents would indicate some details of what is alleged, and that is public record. If LE has a suspect, but think there is a larger ring/conspiracy, they would maybe question that person but not arrest yet. But more likely would just follow them and continue the investigation, then charge everyone later if they can get the evidence. Filing charges too early can be risky for a prosecutor, because a defendant has a right to a speedy trial. Arrest too soon before all the evidence is in and you risk not being able to prove your case or tipping your hand sooner than you want.

We don't have much on the nature of whatever it is that is hitting the windows in the incidents that seem most clearly to fit the NOCO window shatterer's MO. We have the dent on the door frame of Donna Sharp's car, we have Cori Romero's neck wound, and we have a report of a guy with a slingshot on the side of I-25. We have three windshields with impact marks, and one side window with enough glass left in it that you can make out part of the circle left by the projectile. We've got nothing on the others 23 or so but the empty space left by a side or back window.

There was a lady who saw a guy lean over a hood of an older yellow or gold Honda to shoot, she had described seeing it from far away... .
< abriged with respect, for focus >

You are remembering it correctly, but that report was from the series of eleven or so incidents that occurred mostly in Jefferson County, just south of Denver, in 2013. I'm not confident that that series is by the same guy(s) as the NOCO window shatterings, and show them in layer separate from the "NOCO" incident on the map. (I'm starting to sound like LE, with the related / unrelated stuff, and I recognize the dangers of too easily dismissing things that way, but there are dangers in lumping it all together too.)

Also from the above link:

"Two people reported being hit by rubber bullets around 8 p.m. Parker Police said one of the victims recovered the bullet and gave it to investigators. Rubber bullets can not be traced like regular bullets, police said, but officers will be checking local stores for records on recent pellet gun purchases.

So far, three incidents have been reported to Parker Police: One at the Rail Bender Skate Park on Twenty Mile Road, another at the Town and Country Townhomes in Pikes Peak Court and the third in the Rowley Downs neighborhood on East Williamson Drive."

*so much vilence, guns, shootings around here. Hard to keep up with it all. I posted the above for reference, just in case, but there are so many other incidents of violence around here I'm not posting, as a potential link to our shootings/shatterings seems not to likely be applicable imo.

At this link is a video of the semi-truck driver whose window was shot out in Northern Colorado...it's incredible...the task force has determined this incident isn't related or connected to the others...ho hum...the truck driver doesn't believe it...says he's grateful to have saved his own life by upgrading the density of his windshield glass ... Evidently he was told it was caused by a BB or pellet but the driver thinks it was a bullet and bigger than a .22...when asked why he thinks the task force won't connect them he attributes it to bad publicity...guess they don't want anyone to think something like this could happen here in Colorado...

Catching up on the mapping. Here are what I take to be the NOCO MO incidients, with the addition of the shooting of Gary Criswell's semi on Monday 8/31/15, as a yellow circle in the lower right.

One thing that struck me was that Marshall Zelinger, the ABC 7 Reporter who broke the story, mentions in the video clip that the shot came from a roadside field. He has a lot of experience with these shattering and shooting stories, so I'm guessing that he knows whereof he speaks. That is one of the only times we have been able to establish whether the shots came from another vehicle or from roadside.

Ok...Now I know Colorado is hiding the facts and not telling people what is going on.

On the MAJOR nightly news (either CBS, NBC, or ABC...sorry didn't pay attention to which one) there was a MAJOR NEWS story about a highway shooting in Pheonix and LE was all over the news and media about it. That's 1 shooting incident at a couple cars on the highway and they are making NATIONAL NEWS on a MAJOR network.

Colorado needs to get with the program and get the word out and get to the bottom of what is going on there.

by CASSANDRA VINOGRAD NBC NEWS
http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/shootings-arizonas-i-10-put-drivers-alert-n419291

That story cites the NOCO shootings and the I-94 shootings in Calhoon County, Michigan.

There was another window shattering incident along I-94 in MI yesterday (Tues. 9/1). This was apparently the sixth. One of the earlier ones had been confirmed as involving a bullet. The I-94 coverage also references the NOCO series.

"[Calhoon County's] Sheriff Saxton says they've also talked with investigators in Colorado following a series of highway shootings there. One person was killed, another injured, and several vehicles have been hit."
