"The victim was driving in the area when a white SUV passed him – shortly after the victim’s car window was broken out, police said.

The victim says it was the result of someone inside the white SUV throwing something at his car.

Police said that when the victim got closer in an attempt to get the suspect’s license plate number, one of the suspect’s fired multiple shots at him, narrowly missing him, and shattering several windows of the car."

"Colorado Springs police were able to link a reported stolen vehicle to one of the suspects and later identified the other.

While arresting the second suspect at his home, officer’s recovered the gun used in the shooting – which turned out to be stolen."

Loveland's new police chief, Bob Ticer, spoke about the interagency Northern Colorado Shooting Task Force on Friday.

"What I can tell you is that the detectives that worked that case and are working that case, they want to solve it as much as family members want to see it solved," Ticer said. "So what they're doing right now is they are chasing leads. They are continuing to follow up on every lead."

Ticer said investigators have received thousands of tips.

"And, you know, there's a lot of work when it comes to random violence," he said. " Random violence is difficult to solve. ... Cases like this one are abnormal. They do not happen very often. It's really just going from little pieces of evidence and building a case.""

"Cases like this can be solved," Ticer said. "Sometimes it's just that one little piece that will pop in. And could that pop in tomorrow, or next month, or next year - we don't know when that is. But the officers have to continue to follow up on every one of those leads.""

We have waited so long for a break in this case and it sounds like we have our first real break.

Now we have to wait for the news conference and also we have some work to do to see if this person may have been responsible for some of the other numerous random shootings that occurred around that time.

I am so happy LE arrested someone finally. Lets hope they have enough evidence to prove they have the right person.

The two charges against CDP appear to be for these two incidents so far.

"Court records indicate the offense date of both crimes as June 3, 2015, which matches the unsolved shooting death of 65-year-old Loveland man William Connole. That same night, a motorcycle rider was also shot at in Loveland, though the person was not hit by gunfire."
