GUILTY CO - Possible Serial Shooter Has Colorado Drivers on Edge *Arrest* #4

  • #461
From July 27th of this year:

At least four drivers shot at on Anna highway
http://www.wfaa.com/news/crime/at-least-four-drivers-shot-at-on-anna-highway/282040723

As regular site visitors know, I'm convinced that a lot of the many side and back window shatterings on I-25 last year were deliberate and probably executed with a high powered air rifle of some sort - just as these attacks in Anna, TX clearly were. While the MO was clear in Anna, however, the I-25 shatterings offer precious little physical evidence. I wish I understood why. Is the I-25 Shatterer such a great shot that he almost always manages to bounce his pellets off of widows, without (with one exception) ever hitting another part of the target car? Does he use frangible projectiles that leave no trace? Or is he just a figment of statistics and imagination?

I wonder what caliber bullet it was that was lodged on Friday. Of course we may never know, which is totally fine and understandable, whatever needs to be done to preserve the integrity of the investigation and work in cooperation with whatever facts LE chooses to release to us in order to help move forward their investigations. (Man that was a long sentence, lol.)

Thanks again to all in these threads for your contributions.

Man Injured in Shooting on 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights: LASD

POSTED 9:45 PM, NOVEMBER 14, 2016

A man was shot at while driving on the 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights on Monday night, but the details surrounding the shooting were not immediately known, sheriff’s officials reported.

The shooting happened about 8:30 p.m. on the northbound lanes of the freeway near the Citadel in Commerce. Lt. Glenn Walsh, of the East LA Sheriff’s Station, said someone pulled up next to the victim and fired a single round.

Officials said the victim exited the freeway and waited for first responders at the intersection of 1st and Boyle in Boyle Heights...

I want to just throw this in the thread because I do find that some of James Dale Ritchie's alleged victims have a similarity (location/activity) to those shot in Northern CO in 2015. Connected? That's for LE to figure out, but reading about the known victims in AK just really gave me pause.

"Suspicious incident", one man is dead:

Investigation underway after Cheesman Park homicide

Is the window shot out on the driver's side of that car? Calling Trigger, again...

Eta: Another article ("refers to the window as smashed in", so maybe not shot out...?)

Thank you, magz for news of this. Hard to tell with the window, seems targeted, with all the rest of the damage to the car, and that it happened at an intersection.

"An older-model Lincoln sedan with two flat tires and broken glass sat parked at a busy Denver intersection. Police later called it a homicide investigation, but could not say what led up to the man’s death."

[...]

"Police detectives have not said if they are seeking a suspect at this time. No other information related to the investigation was released."

http://www.9news.com/news/local/goo...beating-wounded-dps-trooper-on-i-10/385571073

"DPS officials say Anderson spotted the wreck as he responded to a report of shots being fired at another motorist's vehicle.

Milstead said a call came in early Thursday morning from a driver who said their car had been shot at from the median of I-10 at milepost 81 -- just east of California.*

The trooper was on his way to investigate the call when he discovered a rollover crash near milepost 89.

A woman had been ejected in that crash -- she was later pronounced dead.

Milstead said as the trooper began blocking off lanes of traffic and laying out flares, he was ambushed by the suspect.

The suspect shot the trooper in the right shoulder, and was "getting the better of the trooper"*in a fight that immediately followed.

Milstead said the suspect was on top of the trooper striking his head on the pavement.

According to Milstead, a man traveling westbound on I-10 with his wife in the car, pulled over to help the trooper.*

The man retrieved a gun from his car and fired at the suspect after the suspect refused to stop attacking the trooper, Milstead*said.

The suspect died as a result of the shooting and the man called for help using the trooper's radio, according to Milstead."

Pleeeeeeaaaase tell me I imagined a pm that said we lost Foxfire

:heartbeat:

My heart is broken. Is there a thread for him?

Eta: Link to Foxfire's (Glenn's) thread:

Longtime WS'er, FOXFIRE, has passed away
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...-er-FOXFIRE-has-passed-away&highlight=foxfire

:(

I was scrolling through this thread, and my heart skipped a sad beat when I saw Foxfire had thanked your post above. It reminded me of that awful and surreal news that he was gone---far too soon....:rose:

I wonder what the deal is here:

Two people seriously hurt in Ft. Collins shooting
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/local-news/two-people-seriously-hurt-in-ft-collins-shooting

"Officers didn’t provide any details about the shooting but said two people were transported to an area hospital with “serious” injuries. Police said there was no danger to the public."

No danger to the public, so maybe a domestic or something?

Miss you Foxfire!!!!!!

Found a bit more news.

“Investigators learned that Mitchell and Salazar had been in communication with Able Maki and two juveniles earlier in the evening. Maki and the juveniles came to the residence and a physical disturbance ensued,” police said.

Shot were fired by multiple people. Later one of the juveniles reported to a hospital with a gunshot wound.

Salazar, 22, was arrested for first-degree assault; and Maki, 21, was arrested for first-degree assault and attempted aggravated robbery.

"These shootings took place in the public eye if you will," said FBI Supervisory Special Agent Todd Sandstedt. He and Larimer County Sheriff's Office Captain Bob Coleman have spent two years trying to find the person who pulled the trigger.

"There have been person of interest leads popped up," Coleman said. "And to date we've been able to clear all of those persons of interest that came to our attention."

Unsolved: The Northern Colorado Shootings

Omg, thank you Footwarrior!

"What's making it tough is that each shooting is connected to another, but nothing links all of them.

"I've been in Larimer County since 1988 and this is the first time we've had these characteristics," Coleman said.

Coleman and Sandstedt wonder if the answer lies somewhere in Colorado, or, beyond.

"We have been in contact with authorities from Arizona," Coleman said. "We've been in contact with authorities in California. We've been in contact with authorities in Massachusetts, Michigan."

Dead ends are common. The work is exhausting."
