In re-watching the porch videos, it’s interesting how we seem to catch something new each time.

For instance, after the reporter asks CW if he has any idea where SW is, (at 1:40): "she said she was going to a friend's house with the kids and that's the last thing I heard and that was it."

Taking the kids with her to a friend's house? And that's the last thing he heard. Is he in a way telling us the last thing SW told him before he killed her? As if SW made him aware that she was going to take the kids the next day, or perhaps even that very moment? And for some reason it’s the “ . . . and that was it" part that sounds so final; so permanent, IMO.

"This has to stop" . . . IMO, means "this [media frenzy, LE attention, search effort] has to stop."

JMO.

Edited to correct quote.
Perhaps, “This has to stop (meaning his affairs.) I’m taking the kids with me to my ‘friends’ house.”

@MsBetsy

"Maybe that is that the "ultimately" implies in the affidavit. He may have beat her or hit her in the head with something first. There must be some evidence on those sheets he intended to throw away... jmo"

I took it as implying he murdered the babies first and then ultimately killed SW.

Do you have the right to monitor other people's properties?

@Jennifer17 I can’t help how his house is situated on his lot. And he has a camera, too.
And yes, it covers our comings and goings. I don’t care.
In my part of the world lots of cameras and video doorbells. Better safe than sorry.
I wish we lived in a world where we didn’t need them, and there was nothing to discuss on WS. No crime. No murders.
But that’s not reality.
And the video evidence will be crucial in the Watts case.

I think CW leaked alot of truth in his lies on the porch interviews. IMO, he's ad-libbing. He may have reiterated the same thoughts in the different interviews, but I don't think it's a memorized speech. Was it even his idea to give the interviews, or was he put on the spot?

IMO, CW was trying to convince the viewers he was concerned, but he kept inserting his thoughts of the events that transpired in those last few days. It came across as a jumbled mess. JMO.

"Barrel rush" was one of CW's phrases that stood out to me (after his confession).
Most concerned parents, if they were even capable of giving an interview just a bit over one day after their families disappeared would be gaunt and dishevelled in an interview, and here he is with his perfectly sculptured facial hair and his favourite new shirt on. He is a show pony.

I can’t say that it was what he said during his interviews that struck me as false, it was the way he said it. He expressed mild to moderate concern in his voice and mannerisms, almost as though all the fuss was really unnecessary, like she’s probably at the store picking up something she forgot. There was no OMG! My family has been missing for over 24 hours! Where are they! Help me!

It still surprises me that he didn't even seem to try to look worried or concerned about his missing family. If he had just limited the entire discussion to pix of the family, and how worried he is, and what he is doing to help organize the searches etc, he would have looked much less suspicious.
Yes. This.

You do generally do, as long as they don’t have “a reasonable expectation of privacy” in the area in which the camera is oriented.

So in most cases, a camera that captures a neighbor’s yard is fine, but one that peers into their house, obviously would not be.

And you have just described the conflict in like 50% of the episodes of Fear Thy Neighbor.

I think it’s clear that the neighbors’ camera just incidentally captured CW that morning. There’s not much to be done about that with lots so close together. Lucky break for the investigation.

I did not realize that CW went inside the tanks himself. I thought it was stated that the tanks were quite full of oil at the time of discovery of bodies. Would CW not have opened the latch and drop them inside? Was there a requirement for CW to enter the tank to drop the bodies?

My bestie told me that the tank's manhole is attached to the surface. A quick mechanical procedure to unscrew the lid and then lift up. Once you are finished, proceeds to flip down and reattached. Tanks could have different sizes and openings; circumferentially speaking.

Which leads me to the mechanical/manual labor of what ensue at the oil field.

Park the pick up, open door, grab body, up the ladder, proceed to place the body on the floor, unscrew manhole lid, lift lid, pick up body, dump on the tank, close lid, grab the wrench/tool, reattached. Go down to the stairs and repeat process.
Dig a shallow grave (read Bill Carson's post about digging a grave); go to the pickup, pick up the body of your wife who is carrying a baby inside, dump her on the ground, shovel dirt available from a recent excavation and covered her body. Back to pickup .. and back to business as usual.

My stomach is turning as I'm writing this. To the people who don't agree with my accomplice scenario, maybe you are right, maybe not. Maybe my mind can't process how can someone did that twice and them dig a shallow grave (read Bill Carson's post about digging a grave);. That's why I speculate of an accomplice; because I can't fathom what I described above.

Uncanny, disgusting, eerie, cruel, selfish, evil, vicious and unnecessary.

Haaaaa, very true, on all accounts.

The security cameras are turning us all into voyeurs. Interesting thought---we always feared "big brother," thinking that the government would be spying on us, or the police, or big corporations, when actually the biggest invasion of privacy comes from our own neighbors, each other. People used to know how to mind their own business, but now society has devolved to the lowest common denominator, so we spy and snitch on those around us. I don't know how you can have a free society under those circumstances.

Ha.. We are forgiving people indeed. If only he'd put more effort into acting worried, scared, and remorseful...

Bill did have a great post on the difficulty of digging in that part of the country.

From the drone/helicopter images atleast, that ground doesn’t look like the rest of the area around it though. It looks loose, almost like sand.

I need to check that out. I wonder if it is available on Netflix or Amazon Prime?

Most of the manways for the tank size at CERVI are spec'd at 24 or 36 inch circumference.

But that was part of his act. I am not worried, she will bring them back soon, she can't live without me, while all the time he knew his little girls were in crude oil and the woman who could not live without him was in a shallow grave he dug for her. The man is evil.

@Layla123

“According to People Magazine, CW is depressed, despondent, and not speaking to his family. Hope he feels ashamed and guilty. Maybe he will cop a plea. 'Depression Is Setting in' for Chris Watts as He's Jailed in Deaths of Wife, Daughters, Source Says”.

'Depression Is Setting in' for Chris Watts as He's Jailed in Deaths of Wife, Daughters, Source Says

It would be hard to talk to your family after having admitted that you had murdered your wife, BUT wouldn’t he want to try and convince them that he played no part in the death of the babies. Many families stand by their children after they’ve been charged with murder. The fact that he doesn’t want to speak to them shows that he’s a coward.

Oh sure, it looks like sand. And hey, we dug our dog grave on the ruins of an old red ant mound, so the topsoil was loose, but once we got down about 9 or 12 inches, we hit hardpan, nearly like sandstone. Had to chip away an inch at a time with the pick axe, then shovel that dirt out of the hole, then pick at it again.

Of course, YMMV, and it depends on the soil where the oil tanks were, and whether that ground had been leveled or packed, or even had another kind of soil or rock brought in to make a pad.

Wasn't it reported that the shallow grave was on a mound that had been built up, like maybe for drainage?

Still regularly on ID. They all go from friends to irritated to move your camera/fence/tree to running someone over with a backhoe. It gives me anxiety.
