Not at all unusual for family annihilators. It fits the description to a "T", actually.

'The profile of a family annihilator is a middle-aged man, a good provider who would appear to neighbours to be a dedicated husband and a devoted father,' Levin said. 'He quite often tends to be quite isolated. He is often profoundly dedicated to his family, but has few friends of his own or a support system out with the family.
Focus: Fathers who kill their children

Chris Foster had a large collection of guns and belonged to a clay pigeon shooting club. The men there knew him as a loving husband and affectionate father. He went shooting one last time, at a barbecue, that day. That night, at home, he shot his wife and daughter in the back of their heads, killing them.

Characteristics of family killers revealed: The male dominated crime most common in August

Sadly, children sometimes become a pawn in a deadly game played between two conflicting parties: the mother and the father. In these situations, the father will murder the child, or even children as a way to “get back at the mother” and “teach her a lesson”. This could be because she is getting involved with other people or simply because of ongoing disagreements.

From your article. OMG!

First, he beat his healthy son to death with a baseball bat as he slept in bed, followed by his disabled son and young daughter while they were watching television. When he wife came home, he bludgeoned her to death with the very same bat.

After several failed suicide attempts, Lowe was brought to trial where his lawyers argued that as a result of the intense pressure and stress, he simply snapped on that fateful day and had no understanding that what he did was wrong. Shockingly, he was eventually acquitted by reason of mental disease. Lowe even went on to remarry and start another family.

I don't have a link to support this, but it was discussed many times here earlier on that she received about $800/month toward the leased Lexus SUV that was in her name and if she didn't meet a certain sales requirement, they (LeVel) didn't pay her the $800 toward the leased vehicle that month. In one video, she said she only missed earning that payment 2 months out of 24, I think. To me, that's an enormous car payment (even though she did say she had extra toward gas and repairs). Why not drive a $250/month car! Such stress to keep such a status vehicle.
What she did was tied, very much, to image. Old sales quote that's still used; "sell the sizzle not the steak." I don't believe it stressed her, because I believe she loved what she did! SW was successful because she worked hard and did all the things she needed to do, including promoting an image. Very savvy.

A "special" friend, of course. ;) But, not the type I was referencing. I mean, he didn't have buddies that he went and watched football games with? Were all of his friends husbands of Shanann's friends? Just doesn't seem like anyone knew much about him.

Who were his buddies on Twitter? I never looked them up. He did talk sports with them

So does it sound to you like CW/someone helping him is going to try and fight for any money CW can get (house equity, bank accounts, insurance, any other assets)?

  • #545
I have to say, when my hubby saw CW interview, he looked at me and said did Shanann know she married someone who was gay? I ignored him, but, who knows?
@BabyButterfly That is an interesting observation from your hubby to assume CW was gay based on his interview/s. I am assuming that your hubby never met CW in person. I am resistant to make a judgement on a person's sexuality based on an interview because that would be stereotyping that person.

Behind again...forgive if this has already been discussed.. CW most likely had excellent insurance with Anadarko that would have covered his whole family.
We were talking about if they had divorced. Before he murdered her.

Timing. I don’t know exactly when the Watts filed banckruptcy, but it only makes sense to me that it’s related. Chase probably stepped up with a HELOC and agreed to help them on the condition that they be in a position to foreclose if need be.

The Watts declared bankruptcy in July 2015.

It was an impression, it doesn’t mean that it is necessarily a correct one.

We do this every single day. We make quick judgements about situations and people. They are not always correct, but that’s part of human nature.

Medicaid is for the poor. Depending on the policy , it might make sense for her to have the kids on his. Depends.

With the numerous health issues she has and being pregnant, I would think health would be at the top of the list of concerns, Medications. hospitalizations, doctor visits. Yow!

And if you do not have good coverage, the things you need may not be covered. Scary scary business.

I have many self-employed parents on Medicaid. Who are not at all poor.

It is expanded coverage in states like CA and CO.

So for example, in CA, we call
Medicaid "Medi-Cal". Well it has been expanded to include working families who don't qualify for totally free Medi-Cal. Thus there is the Healthy Families program which is Medí-Cal but has parents pay a nominal fee for coverage for themselves and their kids.

The reality is that SW would have continued coverage in CO regardless of condition. And likely good at that, as another self-employed resident of CO with the same health conditions attested to on here.

Is it possible that fears about health insurance coverage motivated her to stay in a relationship despite knowing about an affair or whatever? Sure.

I tend to discount that possibility a bit due to the coverage available to her in CO and the fact that SW seemed to be a very organized, proactive and independent person who would find it easy to pick up a phone and determine her coverage options, which wouldn't have been among the very best in the nation.

ETA: CO also has an expanded Medicaid program. Understand that self-employed people deduct a ton of "business expenses" and thus their income for purposes of eligibility is much lower.

Absolutely true. But this VI didn’t speak just highly of him, she attacked SW.

Because these people are anonymous (and there’s of course nothing wrong with that), we don’t know the nature of their relationship to the parties involved.

They may be biased, or have a vested interest based on the closeness of their relationship.

These people should be heard, and we should make a judgement for ourselves if we are going to listen or not.

But they can’t change the facts, and we should take what they say “with a grain of salt.”

If what they say causes you to completely change your opinion of SW and CW, you are likely putting too much stock in one lone source of evidence. JMO.

Kids can qualify for medicaid in most states even in middle-income households.

EWW

AB just said that CW as well as Shanann’s family, may have to speak on the phone during the telephone probate hearing, to deal with their assets.

Edited to clarify that it’s not CW’s family, but he himself.
I watched AB, but I forget @MassGuy ..... did she say C.W. was required to be on the call but could plead the 5th? Or did he have the option to be on the call? TIA!

My DH said pretty much the same thing. I asked him why. He said the grooming, especially the facial hair and the way it was trimmed. My DH is not that style, so maybe to him it really stood out.

Does anyone know if SW had to purchase the Thrive products or was she at a level where they would be sent to her for free? I remember a video where they had just received some birthday cake flavored bars and other videos showed boxes of Thrive products. Just curious. Thanks.
We Thrive (for our own use) & for a little while I had a couple ppl signed up under me. I received "Thrive credits" on my account. So I'm assuming that's what she used to get her products.
Edited to say... although I imagine she got a fairly large commission that would have came in the form of a check.

It was speculative. He’s required to do nothing, if he so chooses. He could plead the 5th, or I imagine, appoint someone to represent him.

I have never seen any indication of any Vi attacking SW. I respect all the insight anyone close to them has and welcome them on here

He had all the lights on one night and the next he was staying with friends. Imo he didn't want to be in the house any longer....maybe? And maybe they were always planning to sell since SW had already told some they were separating, perhaps this was their plan before that night. Just brain storming
Just jumping off your post...

I'll bet it was really uncomfy for him being in that home alone. No more chatty wife, no more giggling girls running around. No more anything. Just quiet.

Gotta wonder tho, isn't that what he wanted after all?

The Watts declared bankruptcy in July 2015.
Thank you for confirming the timing. This was the first thing I’ve seen that convinced me of their financial distress. What I didn’t see were any notices of Public Sale. Perhaps they were abiding by the plan they worked out in Court for awhile. People are saying their payment was near 3000. Part of that could be their repayment plans in settling their debts.

You beat me to the punch here. A separation is not a divorce, and a divorce takes time.

The insurance details only would have become relavant if they reached the point of divorce, which would have been many months down the road.

Or years!
