“I don't think prisoners care as much as we think they do. My son's killer got beat up with some regularity, from what i understand, but also secured some kind of protection... “

Male prisoners for the most part couldn’t care less about other male killers but there’s something very important you’ve omitted from your response. For all their crimes, inmates do have their own sort of moral compass that regards some criminals as lesser than others — a hierarchy so well established that prison systems are designed to prevent so-called jailhouse justice. Protection units are precisely designed to prevent attacks on the most hated of inmates.

Prisoners who have murdered or sexually abused children are considered the lowest of the low and they’re isolated for their own safety. Anyone who has ever laid a hand on a child has to watch his back. CW wouldn’t last 5 minutes if he was with the general prison population.

You’ve probably followed many more criminal cases then I have. Have there been similar cases where SM has played such a large part in a victim’s life, allowing all the world to see and hear?

Jodi Arias had SM. Do people feel that was a big deal?

I disagree because the facts we already know prove CW didn't come up with a good way to ensure the bodies were not easy to find. He took them in his work vehicle to his place of work and LE had a drone in the air by day three. That's hardly a well-thought-out plan, imo.
Do you think he would have placed the bodies in that oil field if he thought he was going to get caught? Do you think he would have had the hubris to stand on his porch and give those interviews if he thought he was going to get caught?

Respectfully, although I absolutely see your point, his confession is not one that says he committed murder 1. He is trying to mitigate it down to a lesser offense, done in "rage" or to protect the "active strangling" of his daughter. IMO.

I agree, I totally think (IMO) he was attempting to paint it as a lesser offense. He didn't IMO do a very good job. Had he said I went to defend Cece or something he could have at least tried to paint a defense of others. He didnt. He said in a rage. He also chose a ummm how do I word this, slow method of death. He had time to stop. It's murder 1. All my own opinion.

Thanks NuttMegg, all replies welcome. I don't know about the Oprah situation. What happened? Did she get sued or just face lots of viewer backlash? She is a public figure so it's a bit different, however, from a lawyer saying it in court to defend their client.
In short she had a guest that advised ppl not to eat meat because of mad cow disease. Then the larger beef industry took her to court for demonizing beef, but no particular brand, which was my point. She won a jury trial.
It's funny, if they try to blame it on thrive, wouldn't they essentially be blaming caffeine? Did someone else already make that point? And then with high altitude, a mix of caffeine and aspirin is a traditional medicine prescribed in folk medicine (and OTC in Peru), so he'd better think that through....probably the caffeine patch would negate any of his possible bogus claims on altitude, as he was essentially already being medicated for high altitude.

If you live with a man who has shown signs of violence and you choose or feel you cannot leave for whatever reason, you would at least always be on your guard. However, a family annihilator is someone quite different. I’m sure most of us would like to think there’s something wrong with a person who does something like this because otherwise the possibility exists that someone we love is capable of the same sort of violence, and that’s truly terrifying.

This is an old post but I think it's worth reading.

@SuperTmo

“My job with the organ / eye / tissue bank that I referenced earlier started out as a tissue recovery tech. I would take veins, heart valves, skin graphs and various other anatomical gifts from recently deceased people.

All that to say I did recoveries on over 150 bodies of all ages and never once did I see anyone blue. Grayish, maybe? Lots of pale people. Some bluish lips. Recoveries were usually within 8-12 hours of death. I did see a few suicides by hanging that were probably more like slowly strangling but they weren’t blue either. One was fairly red faced, but the other two were just sort of whitish with blown capillaries around the eyes and on cheeks”.

So you're suggesting that just after hours after he knows he's murdered them that he's suggesting she could walk away, and yet on Tuesday morning he's pleading for whoever has them to bring them back?

I am saying that he is setting up the scenario that she may have left on her own with the kids. That the house neant nothing to her as they had talked about selling it. The neighborhood meant nothing to her..

That is why she could leave it.

Any omissions were due to lack of knowledge, not purposeful misleading.

Thank you for your input, though.

I do believe @gitana1 posted something about this topic and the myths and truths. Perhaps she will offer more information. I just know my son's killer survived; I can't speak to his quality of life inside, besides what I've already mentioned (and don't care on account of he killed my child).

Great question. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised. IIRC, there was a case of a husband last year who killed his wife "in his sleep" and blamed it on a specific brand of cough syrup, remember? The syrup company came out to deny that their product was unsafe or had ever caused anyone to commit murder, but I don't know that they took legal action against him. Then again, I am also unsure that case has gone to trial yet and whether the defense will use it, but I digress.

I wouldn't put it past the defense to use anything in this case, because they are up against SO much. It's kind of like the Anthony case. Those defense attorneys were ruthless, going so far as to accuse GA of molesting his granddaughter and being involved in the murder and coverup, all of which they had no evidence for. But perhaps that, or any other ridiculous thing they threw out during that trial, provided enough reasonable doubt for that jury (if you can call them that), since they did ultimately acquit her of EVERYTHING. So here, with the obviously ridiculous claim that CW is making (and I want to reiterate that I highly doubt he came up with this claim on his own...), the defense will do everything in their power to cast reasonable doubt. Obviously it's hard to say at this point what they might or might not do, but believe me, some crazy things come out in these trials...
I think one thing the defense will use is the fact that SW claimed on SM that both her midwife and OB gave their approval for her to wear the Thrive patches while pregnant. I find that very hard to believe. JMO

Thank you for the brief synopsis on the Oprah situation. That was a long time ago but I remember the mad cow debacle now. When you said she criticized a meat diet I was thinking of Paleo, lol! Good point on the altitude thing. I just can't see how a jury would buy that the Thrive patches were dangerous because they contain ingredients that many adults take daily without issue. But perhaps it would be wise for the prosecution to have a counter-expert ready to testify as to the safety of taking caffeine and vitamins in the amounts in the patches. JMO.

What is the rest of that theory for the defense? That the patches made her go crazy and murder? Or would they make him go crazy and murder? Or IYO she was lying, therefore.....what?

Sued and she won. Cattleman’s association. Disparaging food.

SM played a part in the CA case. Only then it was MySpace. I think Fb had just started? SM was where the chloroform cartoon originated.

My guess is they will bring CW’s SM back. Nothing is ever really deleted. Probably some interesting messages in his message box.

I think he's trying to say he went in a rage towards SW when he saw her strangling one of the daughters. That doesn't even make sense. If he was upset about one being blue and the other being strangled wouldn't he try to save them? Maybe slug SW to get her off of the daughter, but the whole thing would have been to save his daughters. He did not do that. He just strangled his pregnant wife, and hid his dead daughters in oil tanks and his wife and unborn son in a shallow grave. IMO this is so dang obvious!

Did they get married in a Catholic ceremony? I think premarital counseling is required.

I believe one of the articles stated they were married in a hotel. So they were probably not married “in” the Church and therefore missed the joy of Pre-Cana. Kind of joking but it can be valuable because it addresses differences in personality, expectations of each other and ... handling finances. Jmo.

Seriously, the defense can present a story that CW was abused, demeaned, that SW killed the children. That Thrive patches made him crazy, the elevation made him do it...whatever they want to say to present a vigorous defense. In the end, who hid three bodies, and lied?

And who was having an affair(s).

Autopsies Complete in Christopher Watts' Murder Case - In Touch Weekly

I never found In Touch Weekly to be a very reliable source about most anything i ever read in it

"Since their completion, however, there are growing concerns that the results may allow Watts to walk free."

No one is quoted having said this. I wonder if the growing "concerns" are from journalists reading posts here or on SM.

Edited to fix grammar
