A $3000 per month repayment on a $400,000 house doesn’t add up. Unless they have seriously short home loans in the USA. A home loan in UK or Aus is generally over 25 or 30 years and for $400,000 the repayment would be under $2000 per month.
Not to put my business all out there, lol, but my home was priced at $160,000. My note isn't that high, but then they add property mortgage insurance and homeowners insurance and property taxes into it. All in all, my note is $1,140 for a $160K house. So, $3,000 would be about right. (N0te - mine is a 30 year loan.)

I think what is more concerning than his smile is that he looks like he hasn’t a care in the world, but wants the world to believe his family is missing. Look at him. Guy looks cooler than the other side of a pillow. Hasn’t been crying, well rested. Neatly groomed.

He actually looks very tired to me.

As we don't know exactly what happened I don't think we can say for sure that it was heat of the moment.

The nature of murdering three people, and we don't know what kind of time was between each murder, would imply to me either psychosis or that at least the second two were premeditated.

My understanding is that legal premeditation is not exactly how lay people might think it is, and it might be that the legal thing is that once you've got your hands around someone's neck, when you decide to not remove your hands, then you've chosen (premeditated) to attempt murder. I'm not a lawyer so we need legal clarification on that point, as we might be wrong if we assume that a heat-of-the moment reaction that ends in murder is automatically not premeditated.

CW's post-murder reaction does not suggest psychosis was behind the murders.

I am reading people using the word 'motive' for these murders. It's possible there was a motive in the usual sense of the word. I wonder if it was more that a trigger point was reached, which I think is different from having motive, but in no way automatically means that there was no premediation. In a lot of ways it does seem like there's probably associated motivation (I'm tired of putting on this doting daddy act, I want to be free and go have girlfriends and not be tied down by a wife and children (and one more on the way!).

Anyway, my point is that even a premeditation period of one minute would mean that he didn't have a pre-existing plan for clearing up and scene-setting and disposal. I think his plan was limited, but might have been that he'd do whatever clearing up and disposal before work, and then come home after work and anything he thought of in the meantime ... making sure to say he came home to an open back door and maybe throwing out the bedding and Shanann's purse, could be finished after work. But Shanann's friend turned up at the door and blew his chance to finish off the clearing up and the scene-setting.

So, to sum up, not completing all those things before going off to dispose of the bodies in no way automatically means lack of premeditation.
Being under financial pressure can have a huge impact on one’s ability to enjoy their life. I can see where Chris might have been at the end of his rope, where the slightest annoyance might send him over the edge. Unless he confesses more, I don’t think we’ll ever know what his motives were or whether or not it was premeditated, and we probably wouldn’t believe him if he did. I keep hoping his father is a good guy who counsels him to come clean and accept the consequences for his actions, and to my knowledge he wasn’t in court the other day, so maybe, but I doubt it.

I
Same. I enjoy her dramatic views.
Especially love it when she makes cameos as herself in movies and TV shows !! I know it is somewhat OT but it made me smile and we need some smiles with this heavy heart wrenching case...bring on the Nancy Grace lol!!

C.W. drove a truck owned by his employer, Anadarko. He did not have a car paid for by MLM. S.W. drove a Lexus with her “car allowance” deducted from her earnings. Perhaps that’s what you’re referring to.
I think we’ve established the couple was most probably in financial trouble. IMO this was a huge factor in what C.W. chose to do.

Sorry to quote this again.

Having known people who were involved in MLM, and in one case doing taxes for someone who was doing very well in two, I just think you guys would be surprised at how much she was earning. She had a big downline. She could collect commission 8 levels deep. I am sure she was making more than him.

They were definitely in financial trouble at one point but that was before the MLM. They no longer had car payments to contend with and those were two very big contributers to their trouble in the bankruptcy filing. IMO most of their troubles resolved because she started earning more money than she was at the job she had at that time.

Or it could have been a "We're losing the house, I'm leaving with someone else" conversation and she snapped.
I am wondering if this is just devil's advocate spinning or if you really are believing Shanann killed her children. Law Enforcement is interested in the truth and it seems wildly improbably that it lies anywhere other than in Chris Watts deciding to annihilate his family. The only possibility other than premeditation (he fits every trait for that , btw) is that he snapped and killed the kids when left with them on his own, and then felt he had no choice but to kill his wife when she came home to what he had done. All my opinion only.

I would agree with you except for the HOA lawsuit. What do you make of that?

I think it depends on their prior credit. I know my mortgage is less then $2k but we have excellent credit and a low APR VA loan. Also, you have to factor in insurance's that are probably included in the mortgage. So, property taxes and homeowners insurance. It could possibly cause the cost to come close.

Plus if they defaulted on their mortgage at all during their tougher times, that may have blowing their interest rate through the roof.

I think they were conflicted about giving the interview and seemed quite concerned with clearing their reputation with her family because they supported CW. I guess bizarre should be changed to awkward. And I agree the position they were sitting in was not helpful. Having said all of this, I’m sure if I were in that situation, I would have really screwed it up as I am not a fan of public speaking especially on TV!!!
I really liked those two. They seemed like such good people. It sickens me that Chris had the audacity to spend the night in their home knowing what he knew after what he’d done. He completely violated their trust and generosity.

Until the evidence comes out in court. We only know that he admitted to killing his wife/baby, and hiding all of the bodies. There is no proof that he killed the children. We will wait for court.

I’m an accountant and own a firm that is targeted to small business owners. I have some very highly successful clients who go MONTHS without paying bills simply because they are lazy or don’t care. I see their bank accounts and know they have enough to pay their bills, they just don’t.
One of my clients waits until something is on the verge of being shut off or sent to collections before he pays. I think maybe they intended to pay before they got sued for it but perhaps didn’t get around to it. I think they just are irresponsible. But that doesn’t mean they are broke.

I guess at some point , this may possibly wake some folks up that truly get wrapped up in MLM.
It's never truly a 'quick $$' thing. Ever.
Heck, I sold scentsy for a bit to basically get my own stuff at a discount and then quit. Having to make specific sales amounts , and doing 'parties ' is not my thing.

I know some people who literally empty their.bank accounts to keep 'sales ' up and alienate friends and family with the constant posts about what's being sold.

I have a sister in law that is ALWAYS ALWAYS in a new MLM.
She will argue it's not a pyramid scheme until I draw it on a paper for her ....in the shape of a pyramid.

Also, I know CW job probably wasn't exactly underpaid , but that house seemed so excessive .
Its on a ReMax site that shows the interior of the home and I just thought 'damnnnnn'
I'll try and find the link again.

Seriously poor SW, she likely and naively probably never thought anything bad like this would happen. Again, IMO, I do believe he was likely emotionally and mentally abusive. But she probably never thought he'd physically hurt them.

If his truck was low on gas, why not just fill up the car in the garage in full privacy. Why carry the gas can if you were going to drive only 30 or 40 miles(?) to dump the bodies.
It could be a requirement of his job to have the gas can. But did the cameras catch him carrying the can? Or it just being in the truck? If it was required or he just carried the can around with him, not sure why he would have taken it out the day before.
