Seriously?! You think NK life is as.ruined as that of Shanann and Bella and Celeste? That is a shocking statement.

Only in the context that she has to go out and live in the face of this every day. There is no escaping it. No...of course Shannan, Bella and CeCe are the victims, they died, they lost their lives entirely...they didn't deserve it, they are the ones who we should be focusing on and memorializing. It's not the same at all. But I still don't believe NK's crime fit the punishment....just MOO.

@MassGuy I had to Google "vocal fry". So weird. Tried it out. What a pain! I couldn't talk like that all the time.

*Regarding NKs voice in the interview.

I had to google it too, I don’t get the desire to “vocal fry” at all.

Obviously I was wrong about Mr. Smart but something about his diction made me suspect him in the beginning.

I wonder how much that type of interview helps or hurts the investigation.

Welcome recent member!

I'm confused how you are comparing this to Elizabeth Smart's dad. His pleas and getting it on the air was so very instrumental in her return.Moo

ANY case in which a witness is lying to LE or obstructing justice...there should be consequences Hello?
I’m guessing since LE got their killer within days and he was convicted and sentenced within weeks there’s no need.

I want to agree with you so badly because I hold you in such high regard, but I can’t. I think people hate NK because she had an affair with Shanann’s beloved Chris and is responsible for destroying her family. Some call her a home wrecker. I don’t feel that way. I always place 100% blame on the cheater in these circumstances. CW is the one who made the commitment to Shanann, CW is the one who broke the commitment, CW is the one who destroyed his family, and CW is the one who continually lied about it all to NK. NK didn’t fully understand the truth about his marriage until she learned Shanann was 15 weeks pregnant, after the murders. She thought he was getting a divorce. She thought he lived in the basement. I’ve been around long enough to know that affairs are roller coaster rides. One minute they love him, the next minute they never want to see him again, but they can’t break away because they’re hooked. What you call NK’s lies, I see as how she felt on any given day. One minute she was having wild sex with him, the next minute she was telling him to work it out with his wife, the next minute she thought his kids were cute, the next minute she didn’t want to be the stepmother to someone else’s kids. She didn’t know what she wanted. It was a dysfunctional relationship. It didn’t change in phases, like she grew with gained insight from one time period to the next, it switched back and forth from crazy to sane, minute by minute. That’s what happens with affairs. She didn’t lie. She felt and experienced everything she said at the moment it happened, and it didn’t happen on a timeline.

I don’t judge people by their voices. Probably, it’s because I’m a retired Public Librarian, and I sat at a desk for years in a busy city where a different stranger walked up to talk to me every couple of minutes. I always thought different voices were regional. I never paid attention to the voice, I listened intently to the content of what the person was saying. That is how I listened to NK’s interview, and I found no problem with it. It is my opinion that she was fully cooperative with LE. She answered every question asked of her as detailed and completely as she could. I saw no signs of arrogance or manipulation, she was telling the detective about her life with CW the best way she knew how because he asked. Yes, she did try to protect her friends, who had absolutely nothing whatsoever, to do with her relationship with CW, from the notoriety and exposure the media would inflict upon them. That makes her a good friend, not a criminal. But when the detective explained why he needed the information about her friends, she agreed to give it to him.

<modsnip - personalizing/politicizing>

I want to call NK foolish, call her stupid, say I hope she learned a big life lesson, and let her slip back into obscurity to start her life over again. But she can’t. People seem to want to throw rocks at her. I much prefer to direct all my vitriol toward CW and send a little in the direction of his mother, father, and sister.
<mod fix broken quote>

SBM Are you stating how NK felt and what she understood about the relationship as fact or as your opinion ? NK isn't in highschool, she is 30 years old. CW may have lied to her about a lot of things but that does not give her a pass on all blame for the affair. She knew he was married, she knew he had children, she knew he was still living with his family. She willing and actively engaged in the affair despite knowing CW was very much a married man with children. If she would not of known that CW was married or had two little girls , I would give her a pass but she did know and IMO she had a moral obligation to those two little girls to stay away from their dad until he was legally separated.

Furthermore it took 3 interviews and the recovery of NK's phone data for LE to get a clear picture of NK and CW's relationship. She was not 100% cooperative with LE in 3 interviews ! Who does that when there are two little girls and a pregnant women missing and then found murdered ? Doesn't LE always ask for anyone having any knowledge to come forward because what a person might consider unimportant might be the exact information LE needs to solve the case ? By the time of her interviews, LE knew CW had murdered his family but they still needed to build a strong case to convict him . She withheld information and she lied to LE knowing 2 little girls had been dumped in oil tanks. I have no sympathy for her.

He has been punished by a court of law, she is being punished by the court of public opinion.
It will be hard for her for a while, but she will live her life and maybe one day will have the things that she was so desperate to take from Shanann.

Thankfully CW is locked up for the rest of his life so she won’t be able to have him.

NK

All I can hope for is that somehow she's learning from lessons from all this.

Feminist or not, she is an adulterer.

She willingly (yes, he lied, but no one can convince me, based on what we currently know, that NK had no clue he was married with children, right from the beginning) has sex and a relationship with a married man.

She willingly had sex with a married man.

She put aside human decency in order to satisfy her own physical and emotional needs.

She participated in lies to satisfy her own physical and emotional needs.

She ignored the emotional health and welfare of another woman, and that woman's children in order to satisfy her own physical and emotional needs.

And then she was more concerned with HER OWN reputation and embarrassment than she was with the health and safety of those missing.

I don't care how old you are, how experienced (or not) you are...you don't sleep with, or encourage emotional couplings with married people. Affairs don't happen in a vacuum.

She is, at least, guilty of participating in a HUGE lie that hurt many, many others.

But what does that have to do with this case?

Perhaps the original poster was analogizing it to Cindy Anthony, Casey Anthony's mother who lied. But as we know, both of them were Premier witnesses for the prosecution to go to trial, (as @gitana1 pointed out)so I think with both of them, the prosecution is going to walk away and or has walked away as they did from Cindy Anthony.

Can someone link the discovery documents?

I'm still torn about whether NK knew that SW was pregnant.
It's hard to believe that NK didn't look at SW's facebook where she would have instantly found that out.
But NK also said quite forcefully that she wouldn't have wasted her time on CW if she had known.
NK was also very opinionated about the state of CW & SW's finances.
IMO, she didn't come across as the type of person who would want to directly or indirectly support another woman's children.
I wonder if it was originally NK's idea to sell the house because she was very interested in that house and she knew he couldn't afford a divorce otherwise.

When NK was indignant about CW texting her while he was in NC sleeping with another woman (Shannan) I couldn't believe what I was hearing!
Only she knows the truth about her involvement in this tragedy and we will never know what that really was. What a piece of work! MOO!

Obsessively so, possibly she initiated the affair...why is she so worried about involving Jim? so weird! Her best friend but has no clue what's going on when it's on National News?

Didn't NK also google things that referenced "threesome"? Maybe Jim is more than just a friend? IMO LOL

I'm also being asked what Chris Watts will be allowed to buy from the Prison Canteen system. Inmates serving a sentence in Colorado Each inmate has a weekly opportunity to order from the Canteen, with restrictions applied based upon their custody level.

This is a link to the Canteen Vendor with an extensive catalog of items Colorado inmates can purchase.

Looks like he will be a little porker in no time.

NK was ADAMANT when she agreed to a voluntary search that they only looked at phone call times and text messages to FCW ONLY. I have a feeling that the next document dump will show more of her internet searches.

ETA.. we already know about her efforts to have her best friend delete stuff to her, and internet searches, (paraphrased..oh..police officer.. you need to only start at Sunday because that is the only thing that is important she said) I think there is much more.

Referring to NK's interview with police: Women do NOT leave behind their cell and purse unless they are fleeing for their life.

Who leaves behind their phone and ID, CC with small children without a car?

And Dieter!!! Who would leave home without their beloved dog?

If anyone laments why we are "still talking about NK", I offer a gentle reminder that her interview and CW's are some of the few things that were extracted from the new files before they were taken offline. And we have made fun of CW for his cringey cards, insulted his intelligence and maturity, and repeatedly mentioned how monstrous he is. When his mugshot came out, we commented on the decline of his appearance.

In both cases, many of us are just calling a spade a spade. The victims in this case are dead or mourning the dead. The rest are dealing with the consequences of their actions.

She didn't even commit a crime.
She may have in her deletion of potential evidence, deception and possible hindering an investigation. As far as the affair, it just shows she needs a stronger moral compass but her deception in the interviews knowing a wife and 2 children have been murdered shows no moral compass at all.
