Having an affair should not equal ruining your life...sorry, she's the only one not dead (heartbreaking, horrible and sad) or in jail for life, yet in my opinion, her life is just as ruined. Imagine the horror of seeing your name in print every day and your nightmare doesn't end. Sorry, even the lies she told, or the selfishness, or any of the immature things she did, didn't warrant that punishment.

MOO

Sorry but I disagree completely. If you participate in an affair with a married man you are actively ruining your own life as well as his life the lives of his family. The ruining of her life is the result of NK's own actions. CW alone murdered his family but he also cheated with a willing partner who knew he was married with kids. They share equal responsibility for the affair IMO. But bottom line is that, in the end, SHE IS ALIVE! This "ruining of her life" in no way compares to the murder victims who now have NO LIVES TO LIVE. She is not "just as ruined" as Shanann, Bella, CeCe and Niko. NK can move, change her phone number, change her name if she wants to and eventually most people will stop talking about her. I wouldn't be surprised if some men liked what they heard/saw about NK's affair with CW. And as seen on this board, she obviously has supporters. There are people who condone her actions and condone her affair. There are people who will think NK had every right to have an affair with CW because she thought the marriage was struggling. I'm not one of those people. She gets no sympathy from me for being a cheater. She had no right to Shanann's husband. She had no right to Bella and CeCe's father. Just because he told her a pack of smooth talking lies does not give her the right to have an affair and come out of it unscathed.
MOO.

When NK was indignant about CW texting her while he was in NC sleeping with another woman (Shannan) I couldn't believe what I was hearing!
Only she knows the truth about her involvement in this tragedy and we will never know what that really was. What a piece of work! MOO!

Oh my! I forgot to comment on that is that not to me in my stomach also. She was saying she would never tolerate him sleeping with his wife when he was with her. WTF?

Only in the context that she has to go out and live in the face of this every day. There is no escaping it. No...of course Shannan, Bella and CeCe are the victims, they died, they lost their lives entirely...they didn't deserve it, they are the ones who we should be focusing on and memorializing. It's not the same at all. But I still don't believe NK's crime fit the punishment....just MOO.

She is a 30 year old woman who made a decision which she now needs to live with. I don't see her being punished, more embarrassed by the fact every last detail of her affair have been made public.

My mother always says if you lie down with dogs you get fleas. NK caught fleas but they can eventually be cured. For the Watts family and friends there is no happily ever after.

ANY case in which a witness is lying to LE or obstructing justice...there should be consequences Hello?

Eh, I think she lied but I don't want her charged with anything. They needed her as a witness to put CW away. He is behind bars now and she has to face the backlash over what she said and her actions to try to paint herself in a better light in the face of a murder investigation. That's enough. I just hope she doesn't do any more media interviews. JMO.

I think she was honest when she cried...it sounded very real.

Agree. She is angry and humiliated.

When my kiddo was diagnosed with a lifelong illness, that would change our lives forever. I felt absolutely nothing. I told everyone I couldn't find my feelings anywhere. I felt like a serial killer. Why would I feel nothing? It was the most horrible thing that had ever happened to my family and I was like....there's zip there. Then in the grocery store, six weeks later. I broke down in tears and could not stop crying for two days. Finally, it hit me. I think there is some of that going on here.

Thanks for sharing. I think this is why we have to be slow to judge people's reactions. I have a similar experience of watching a close person die. When it finally happened it was just too big to grip.

In my opinion, she's guilty of having an affair. She's guilting of lying to cover up the raunchy aspects of that affair. She's guilty of wanting to win CW over SW. We saw a lot of the texts she deleted, none of them were her conspiring with CW to commit murder. She wasn't hampering the investigation to hide those details. She just didn't want the magnitude of their sex and the lives they had together getting out. She probably panicked about that.

I tend to agree perspective is being lost. She is a witness to the affair that provides the motive, and she voluntarily gave evidence as to that, without a lawyer. Every salacious detail of her affair is not relevant.

In my opinion, she wasn't blameless of having an affair and wanting CW, he made it clear he was choosing her. She sounds like kind of a cold person...BUT... she didn't murder SW or the girls. She didn't ask CW to murder them.

True crime risks becoming a morality play for us all.

Her actions are utterly unremarkable until Watts murders his family.

I think the sentence she got was unjustified. Most mistresses don't have their lives ripped apart. And honestly....if any of us had to present our google searches to the police... what do you think they would think of most of us? I'm a writer...I write romance, crime and fantasy fiction...I can tell you honestly, without context, I do not want a police offer going over my searches. For example looking at wedding dresses doesn't mean you are planning a wedding. Maybe you are fantasizing about one...hello? How many single women in their thirties do that. I would venture to assume many. Yes, she was probably fantasizing about marriage with CW, but searching wedding gowns and getting married is a pretty wide berth apart.

Absolutely!

Would I want everyone knowing about the hours I spend reading and searching about the Watts case? Pistorius? Knox?

Years of creepy searches!

Having an affair should not equal ruining your life...sorry, she's the only one not dead (heartbreaking, horrible and sad) or in jail for life, yet in my opinion, her life is just as ruined. MOO

This is why Watts is so evil.

But worse of all the Shannans family will suffer the worse of all this for the rest of their lives.

NK

All I can hope for is that somehow she's learning from lessons from all this.

Feminist or not, she is an adulterer.

She willingly (yes, he lied, but no one can convince me, based on what we currently know, that NK had no clue he was married with children, right from the beginning) has sex and a relationship with a married man.

She willingly had sex with a married man.

She put aside human decency in order to satisfy her own physical and emotional needs.

She participated in lies to satisfy her own physical and emotional needs.

She ignored the emotional health and welfare of another woman, and that woman's children in order to satisfy her own physical and emotional needs.

And then she was more concerned with HER OWN reputation and embarrassment than she was with the health and safety of those missing.

I don't care how old you are, how experienced (or not) you are...you don't sleep with, or encourage emotional couplings with married people. Affairs don't happen in a vacuum.

She is, at least, guilty of participating in a HUGE lie that hurt many, many others.
Well said. MOO unless NK gets herself into therapy, she is bound to end up with another disordered person. (Either as cheated upon wife or as OW.)

MOO: Her true character will be revealed. Which will she choose? a) sidesteps to the shadows or b) tries to use this for fame and fortune?

Hopefully SW’s family, in due time, will get to experience a little schadenfreude or see a poetic justice visit the door of NK.

Edit: typos

He was so trapped in *walking to the end of the hall* as did FCA, that he could not process how to change a story.

The walking to the end of the hall...who could ever forget that. Oh ha, I don't really work here, while her daughter is missing for over a month..wild goose chase...case still boggles my mind..

CW didn't have 31 days to live his best life then make up a cockamamie story and get set free. TG for SW friend going to their house at noon that day...Thank God.

I really hope they release the files in a different capacity today. We’re expecting a snow storm with 6-10+ inches of snow and 35mph winds.

Finally finished the NK interview! I had a very hard time making it through to the end.. everyone was right.. her voice seriously grates! I found her to come across as extremely arrogant and self absorbed. I found it ironic that she tried the entire time to portray herself as the hero who was always trying to do the right thing and save the day but the evidence shows her as anything but a morally sound person.

Side note: NK mentioned she was sick a few times in her interview. Hopefully she is not pregnant. That would be a nightmare!

See, to me, /if/ she believed he was living in the basement (and I'm not sure how much he was?) and separated by all but papers and location that's not at all the same as trying to seduce him out of a happy marriage. (But even then, it takes two and I don't really believe in "homewreckers" as a thing.) I don't see why it would be a stretch to imagine he lied or downplayed things to NK when he's the main person in this case we know for absolute certain lied a lot about some big things.

I don't see this warm all over each other relationship between Chris and Shanann that suddenly stopped. The videos of their interactions seem so uncomfortable to me. But that's after the fact interpretation so I really don't know.

Overall I don't really understand the point of State of Colorado publishing all of NK's evidence online when she is a cooperating witness.

Seems to only send the message not to cooperate.

So why are they doing it?

The only thing I can think of is that NK & Watts conspired in deleting the texts and trying to hide her existence.

It has to be a real beef - not some untruths at the edges of her evidence.

I think my niece used to “vocal fry” but just when she was being rude and/or cynical. NK’s voice/demeanor was repulsive to me. I listened to the entire audio, but cringed the entire time. She kept professing how independent she was, was self righteous and proclaimed things implying he was more into her such as “we need to take it slow,” but at the same time seemed to micromanage everything about him (e.g., “you need to spend those days with your kids”), when it was none of her business. What’s the saying, the lady doth protest too much? I think she was obsessed with him.

I don’t think she had any fore or after knowledge, nor do I think “if not for her they’d be alive.” He would have found someone else. It’s all on CW. He made his choices. He’s so despicable, and the video of him explaining the girls’ being put into the tanks was revolting. Eat some pizza? There are no words to describe him.

I found it to be her overall attitude that was coming off as the most grating. There's something off in her responses. The detectives are trying to figure out what happened and where she can offer insight. She's not coming at this from trying to help them piece this together and anything he might have said or did that would be relevant. I thought the detectives were amicable and easygoing with her. And the fact that they would need to verify different things is extremely understandable under the circumstances. They were completely in line with their questioning. And she was so aggressive. She also sounded completely tone deaf to what they were trying to get at and just went on and on about herself.

And the blasé attitude of, "ya I don't remember." Or very inappropriate, self-absorbed monologues. I cannot imagine being in the middle of a murder investigation and taking this opportunity to tell the investigator all about my personal macro nutrients. I literally was doing a face palm listening to her. It just felt like the NK show. People can have annoying voices, but if they are being genuine and caring, their character would still come through. I don't know. Maybe it's just her personality - rough around the edges and a bit uncouth. But the narcissism and self-importance is what was coming through the loudest to me. Imo and all that usual disclaimers.

Ironically enough, NK with the loudmouth, selfish ways, was not going to uhm, work out for long with CW...Drew Peterson rings a bell..

I am going to have to give myself a timeout from this case. My stress level is increasing by the day, and I can't change a thing. So before I give myself a migraine or get booted....I better take a nice long break. The discussion has been interesting and educational, to say the least. Thanks to everyone who converses so respectfully.

My prayers for SW's family. May they somehow find a small measure of comfort and peace during this Christmas season.

Did I read somewhere that NK had did an online search for SW back in September 2017 ? Or did I imagine this?
If so then NK saw a happy couple IMO

Me too. We’re not expecting much for sleet, so we should be good.
(famous last words ) :D

I'm getting asked this question alot comparing Scott Peterson to Chris Watts so I would like to clarify the difference between the two.

The reason Peterson hasn't been harmed is because he is at San Quentin, he is on death row. Which means he sleeps, eats essentially lives only in his cell. He only has contact with guards. They did the same with Ted Bundy. Peterson only is allowed out of his cell to exercise alone in a dog kennel size room.

Watts is serving a life sentence which means his level of contact with others will be different. In the world of inmate preception, Scott Peterson never pled guilty, he went to trial and lost. That's a big difference between taking a guilty plea to killing your wife and kids.

As wrong as it is; pregnant women being murdered by their SO's is I don't want to say common, but it happens. Killing your living children .. that's got to be the lowest of the low even for hardened criminals in prison.
