I don't think so...she thinks she was different and the love of his life. He killed his family for her. She is beyond arrogant and I believe she thinks of herself as a goddess. It's disgusting.
The question was about Shanann ever thinking he was capable of it. I think you must be referring to the mistress?

Is this the "Jim" friend staying with her ?
I noticed in her 2nd interview [47:39 minutes in] she says she has a one-bed apartment. He must've been sleeping on the couch.

Ironic. It's all about this cowards safety.

I’m glad he has been moved for his safety so that he is kept alive and he endures every miserable day locked in a cell till the end of his life. If he is killed behind bars the Watts family could sue the prison service for a substantial amount and I am sure nobody wants that.

If his whereabouts aren’t publicly known does that mean his ‘fan mail’ will stop because nobody will know where to send it? If so great.

Oh my goodness, the neighbor with the surveillance video. I love him. He knows what's up and he isn't buying a damn thing from Chris. I'm so grateful he had that camera. Just another thing that blew Chris's story out of the water.

B
But then when LE did not come for him on Monday evening, he felt that he was home and hosed and stepped up to do the infamous smirking, preening interviews.
Except when the dogs were searching the house. That really threw off his game. He was so spooked by those dogs.

In the first half hour I heard, NK's major concern was getting contact numbers off her phone. She did show she made the due diligence steps to having her data restored. She didn't fight them too hard on handing over her phone to get whatever they could back, not just the parts they asked for. Just my two cents from listening to the start of it.

She was heavily involved in "researching" new places/apartments for CW. I got the sense she did offer to help him and he "let" her. I think she was more controlling about it than she realized. I think he "let" her and she took that as moving forward. She was definitely inserting herself into this divorce situation. I think that she likely had an overbearing personality where she thinks she is an expert on everything and that's what she does.

I'm not picking up on "sinister" motives. Just contributing factors to what happened.

Second interview with NK. Full video.

She brings in her two phones and is asked if they can look at everything and she wants to know why. She’s soooo casual. She said she had no reason to delete anything else from her phone. The reason she deleted “all that stuff with Chris is because he was making me feel really uncomfortable and I didn’t want to see it in my phone anymore”.

She was specifically asked if she ever made any comments regarding children, dislike of children or love of children. She finds a text to her best friend, Charlotte, made “weeks ago”. It was in fact August 7. The officer says she references that he has 2 kids and she doesn’t like that because she wants to have that experience with somebody else? She says she wasn’t sure if he was the one she wanted to be with because he’d done everything. “It would be really nice to kind of, like, have kids and have my own marriage and all of that stuff”.

She said, “I really wanted them to fix it. I would have just, like, left the situation”.

She says she lost her job yesterday. She hopes people don’t see her name on a resumé and won’t hire her. “They told me that they would keep me and then they called me back and let me go. They said they let me go because they hired me to do a contract job and now that contract was over”. [What an amazing coincidence ... and pigs will fly]

What's fascinating to me is how she appears to have dropped Watts like a hotcake

Poor guy. He murdered his whole world for her and she is treats him like pooh on her shoe :p

As I predicted, Usually the attacks have begun. This id

So this is Protective Custody move. They arent moving this jerk just so he can be closer to Mom and Dad. The Federal Bureau of Prisons are gonna stick him in some joint so deep they're gonna have to pump sunlight to him!
Would we have heard if he had required hospitalization due to an attack on him, or would that be kept out of the news?

This is why i don't think she is acting.
I think she knew exactly what he was getting at when he asked her if she had never found out if Shanann was pregnant would she have stayed with him. Imo

She was clearly not a complete idiot as to what was going on.

Obviously the risk from her POV is married guy is just getting some on the side, but is never actually leaving, and as she points out, Watts told her he was already leaving, to get her in the sack

I think the apartment thing was a way to seek some proof of his commitment.

When CW confessed to his Dad, he said,”Rage, it was the rage,” or something close to that, like rage is an understandable excuse for strangling your wife. I think he was telling the truth, there. The way he said it. He felt uncontrollable rage toward Shanann. She had to have pushed a button in him, and I wonder what she said.

Did CW send a pic of flowers to NK on the day of the murders? Is that in discovery?

  • #773
Don't throw tomatoes at me, but I want them to keep him safe 1) just on the off chance (doubtful, I know) that he will someday reveal what really happened and why, and 2) I want to see a study of his psychological makeup as it relates to other known family annihilators. There is more to be learned. MOO

You know I have curiosity re; this as well. But, I will take them dissecting his brain to see what was missing. He can go ..

Interesting she had a side piece that Watts didn't know about eh?

I don't know. The main thing is their actual vocal chords sounds the same to me. Same tone and sound.

But also, they both pronounce a certain kind of word the same and I think it might come from a certain region in the Midwest. Who knows where she was originally from or her parents?

It's certain words with an "str" sound I think directly after a vowel? Instead of pronouncing that "sssss-tuh-ree (or ray) they pronounce it "shhhh-tr-ree" (or ray 0r ruh).

I am not explaining it right. It's not important but language is interesting to me. We do have an expert on here I think with language?
What you're describing is called S-backing or S-retraction by linguists. It is not specific to a particular region but William Labov did a big study on it in Philadelphia in the 1980s, although it occurs in pockets of speakers all over the US, I believe. It tends to be more urban than rural.

Basically what's happening is, in a word like 'street' with a consonant cluster of 'str', the tongue is going to have to move back in the mouth to pronounce the 'r' sound so, in anticipation of that movement, the 's' is pronounced with the tongue further back than it would be for a normal 's'. So the word comes out something like 'shtreet' or 'schreet'. It can happen after a vowel too in words like 'destroy' ('deshtroy'). I notice NK doing it when she talks about 'shtreaming' TV.

Michelle Obama is a good example of S-backing. Her pronunciation of 'struggle' is more like 'shtruggle' and she seems to follow this pattern for most 'str' words. Sarah Huckabee Sanders does this also. It's an example of language change in action.

You can see something similar going on with 'tr', which is often pronounced 'chr' in words like 'tree' or 'train'. So what many (most?) people really say is 'chree' and 'chrain'.

Disclaimer (!): I'm not an expert in phonology but I did train (chrain?) as a linguist.

Amazing to see the FBI Special Agent Coder Interview

The guy plays Watts like a fiddle.

It's interesting how Watt's has barely any reaction at all over the extended timeframe.

Highlight is when Coder comes in with the family photo and puts it on the corner of the table.

Watts stares at it.

Coder puts it right in front of him. Watts takes it and begins to discuss the family in the past tense.
Wow. I think they should have shown him photos of his daughters covered in crude oil.

For me the most interesting video is of the basement

Watts has a very nice, big home, yet moves out to live in his own basement which does not even have internal cladding?

IMO quite an interesting insight into his personality

I don't know but it does seem rather cosy ;)

Although she is not the sharpest tool in the shed, I think she is emotionally far more savvy than Watts
