So are you implying Skinner is evil or just ignorant?
Neither.
I think a.) the article was written terribly since it's not at all obvious who had the conversation with SM about her health and the solo biking. Did BM have the convo with her and relay this info to Skinner? Or, as the article actually says, did Skinner himself have this convo with her, during an elk hunting trip last year with BM? It's not clear which was meant.
and b.) it sounds intentionally orchestrated (contrived, purposefully set up, hokey, hoax) to make the reader believe SM was not only on a bike ride, but that she was perfectly safe and confident going on these solo bike rides.

It's narrative building & promotion.

I do not tweet, but if I did these would be my questions:

1. Was there a SW executed yesterday at the missing person's house?

2. Was there a SW executed at the construction site that was previously searched?

3. Have there been any other SW's executed or subpoenas issued regarding the missing person?

My mom having chemo wasn't a terrible form of it even so she didn't really get sick like you think of with hair loss, vomiting, etc. She still has some residuals from it like sudden onset fatigue though. I think a lot of people like Skinner might be like oh wow youre bike riding! Are you sure that you're okay to do that? I think a lot of people get those paternalistic maybe a bit patronizing questions about their choices after or during cancer so I can see how it would come up. I've been that person asking those same questions of my mom and I've seen everyone else do it too.
Glad to hear that. You reference her chemo ('didn't') in the past tense so I assume she is done with it now. I hope the fatigue diminishes with time. In any event, it appears, that like Suzanne, she isn't going to let it stop her from going on with life.

Here’s what I think the message is that everyone is picking up on but haven’t been able to articulate: this disappearance is being, and has been from the start, pushed as “an extremely friendly woman” alone on a bike ride in the Colorado wilderness (mountain lion attack?), with the unsaid implication being that she was abducted by someone who was able to gain access to her while she was out of the home because she was a trusting, helpful person who would have been easy to lure due to her giving nature.

And as far as any of us know, only *one* person has been pushing that narrative from the very first day she was missing.

The fact that the home was held by investigators from Day 1, searched extensively, released, and now has been searched again, when the narrative is that she went missing from an unknown location *outside* the home, is what is sending us that signal that something doesn’t add up.

‘Pacing around, staring out windows’: Chaffee County Fire Chief addresses questions about missing Suzanne Morphew’s husband Barry Morphew

Fire chief stated that her friendly nature was her downfall. That's such a weird thing to say. I think that is a narrative that is being sold to any who will listen. She's too nice, too friendly, someone grabbed her. That is supposed to explain everything. Moo

BBM:

"Oh, Suzanne…."

Why'd you have to go and be so doggone friendly to complete strangers all the time?

Looks like the Chief drank the Kool-Aid.

That statement by him actually ticks me off…it's a very insidious way of blaming the victim.

If the Chief had posted that comment here on WS, his post would have been reported and deleted by the mods for not being victim friendly.

And rightly so, I might add.

JMO.

Agreed.

Maybe the fire chief didn't know himself if Suzanne was a friendly person or not ?
So did someone else tell him this ?
It's not unreasonable to wonder, imo.

It is definitely blaming the victim. I can't quite wrap my head around the idea that the fire chief would actually say something like that, in that way, about his volunteer fireman's wife. Isn't it almost overly intimate, too? I've never liked the words he used that day.

I have no doubt he's simply parroting the words he's heard someone else say to him.

I also have no doubt who said those words to him in the first place.

This is probably true, but you'd think the guy could tone down the victim-blaming and condescension for the press. Guess not.

I got the impression that the reporter asked him questions (that we didn't hear) and he answered them so that is why he was talking about the bike rides because he was asked about it perhaps and even asked if she was afraid and that was his response. I could be wrong but I felt that wasn't the complete interview but pieces of it. MOO

Publishing just part of, or just one side of an interview, doesn’t seem to be very good journalism, especially if it is not noted to the reader.

A few things stood out in this msm interview :

When Skinner learned that Suzanne didn’t return from a bike ride, he immediately asked Barry what he could do to help.

“I didn’t actually get to talk to Barry until two or three weeks into the ordeal..."
emphasis mine
So, which is it ?

sbm

Well, exactly. Which is it?

Indeed.
As well as, "...just return her, no questions asked...".
Smh.
It's so horrible.
We're talking about human beings.
Lives that were suddenly halted, if not ended.
How can anyone say they won't ask any questions ?
Does this mean if she is returned there'll be no repercussions ?
Everything will be forgiven and all will be fine ?
Ridiculous.

It's as if both spouses in these cases think they are calling the shots.
Sorry, it doesn't work that way.
MOO
Rant over.

Huh.

Asking myself this question:

What are the odds that Barry having a heart-to-heart with a hunting buddy about SM's comfort level re: solitary bike rides and SM going missing during a solitary bike ride less than a year later are completely unrelated?

Rhetorical question, so I'll go ahead and answer it:

Those are some long odds.

JMO.

He said he spoke to Suzanne, not Barry.

Well Barry would have been available sooner but was busy making arrangements back in Indiana. You don't just pull off Guardianship over night you know...

In Michael Chamber's case, he was declared deceased in (Imo) unseemly haste.
I have to wonder if that will be BM's next move ?

BBM:

I honestly don't think the Chief realized the message those words conveyed.

I think he genuinely believed he was giving SM a compliment.

He was an unwitting puppet.

His lips appeared to be moving, but it wasn't actually his mouth voicing those words.

We were hearing the master puppeteer speaking there in that interview.
