Chris watts did know the neighbor had a camera on that spot. He only thought he could beat that with driving his car back into the garage and loading up the bodies so it could not been seen. He did not have time to finish his narrative because of shannan her friend intervening.

Maybe BM knew also but he thought he could get arround it too. Or he forgot in the heat of the moment. Jmo

If I remember correctly, I agree CW knew about the neighbor's surveillance camera but did not realize that the motion camera would actually capture so much of his own driveway!

I remember the neighbor stating he had recently adjusted his camera to record activity coming down the street from as far away as the corner after a recent rash of car break-ins (cars parked on the street). Neighbor also said CW parked his work truck on the street for 6 weeks when SW was in NC.

That’s a really good point. Perhaps the camera eye was wider than Barry had counted on.

If Sheriff Spezze and BM were acquaintances, would Sheriff Spezze have been expected to recuse himself from the investigation?

I realize there is no evidence to suggest this, other than their daughters were on the same high school basketball team.

I sure don't think so. In small towns, that would mean the County Sheriff (chief LE officer) would almost never work on any case.

I don't think LE recuses itself very often. Where I live, the Sheriff arrests Sheriff's deputies - they all know each other - and actively assists in their prosecution (if they have done something illegal, obviously).

I'm guessing all the LE knew all the volunteer firefighters in some capacity - casually, or perhaps as actual friends.

Maybe authorities didn’t find anything. And we are left with the house and the rest of the evidence.
Of course, this is just me imagining another scenario.

I've actually seen this happen. In a local case LE and the CSI type folks searched a house for many hours over 2 days. They took a lot of things out of the house, including at least 1 rug. At trial we learned there was nada, zip, zero forensic evidence found to prove a crime occurred inside the house. However, they proved guilt with a bunch of other circumstantial evidence, though DNA was not a part of the case.

Keep the faith because circumstantial cases can be very compelling!

Exactly. If there were texts, which I do think there probably were, then I would expect those unanswered texts to be followed by multiple phone calls.

Also, by saying the husband isn’t involved, they are making it a juicer story. Mystery sells, and they are a tv network after all.

Speaking of that ID channel. I spoke to one of their producers about 5 yrs ago. He got my name from someone and called me because (he said) he was going to put together a series that included a local case. I knew the case inside and out as well as several people connected. I let him know I had never met the victim and really couldn't offer any inside info. I would not have participated even if I did know the victim. Privacy & anonymity first!
