"During a 25-minute conversation that took place Tuesday, Barry theorized over what may have happened to his wife. He mentioned the possibility of an animal attack, an accident, perhaps, with someone on the road, or even, he said, a run-in with someone who knows her well."

Hmm, yes, a lot of us here believe that this is what happened...

Yep. I’ve been very quiet on Suzanne’s case because I was still straddling the fence despite every fiber of my being screaming it’s always the husband. I’d like to thank Barry for shoving me off that fence.

If Barry's friend was available to respond to the search area so quickly, why didn't Barry just have him check on Suzanne in the first place instead of involving a neighbor? Were the girls supposed to be home sooner and discover her missing and did they perhaps involve the neighbor prior to consulting with Barry? Were they able to reach him when they tried? Or did he not respond in a timely fashion and that is how the neighbor came to be involved?

If he can get people believing, no matter how subtly, that it was her own fault for meeting up with some guy, then he can give himself points for clamming up to save her reputation (the reputation that he is subtly trashing). That could even account for that repulsive statement he made that she would be happy (and presumably willing to die) if even one person was saved. Saved from knowing what really happened, with that person she knew "so well".

BBM:

Wow, so BM thinks SM may have been harmed by someone she knew well?

Perhaps even someone she knew intimately?

Someone, like, say, oh, I don't know...a HUSBAND?

Never pass up a chance to throw shade at your missing wife and the men and women looking for her. VERY Christian of you Barry! Apparently he skipped over a few significant chapters when he was sitting in his chair reading the bible. JMO.
Yeah. It's so typical it's boring -- it's always someone else's fault. I just don't see what SM saw in this guy, frankly. Maybe she was too young when they married and didn't yet have the experience to see the red flags (if there were any at the beginning).

I'm struggling with the amount of arrogance it must take to publicly call out 3 law enforcement agencies in an interview when your wife is missing. He really is an arrogant son of a gun.

Exactly - forgive the repost but we have sleuthers who may have missed this gem of an article IMO about the investigators and the case they put together to nail that murderer Frazee and IMO, to say what he has said regarding LE in this case is beyond ludicrous - no one can possibly believe him right? Do y'all think LE is sittin back and laughin'

supposedly, from those who knew him and her in HS, BM always had money (to spend), had a
nice car, was a jock, was good looking, and was probably pushy and assertive in getting the cute, timid, tiny, nice girl, SM. She was so young and inexperienced and got pushed along by him til boom- marriage. Caught her.

I so agree with you. "Preacher Barry" is a very tough pill to swallow.
Yeah. If he went to church, he dozed in the last pew.

  • #90
Because the bike is what he needs us to believe--it is his staged scene. The fact that LE isn't buying it means he took this opportunity to do an interview to try and stir doubt about LE's actions and draw attention back to the bike. I do think this part was intentional on BM's part--to bring the bike back into the picture. (Too bad he slipped and mentioned the bobcat.)
That the Bobcat issue popped out of his mouth indicates to me that it is a very important item in SM's disappearance. This is BM's subconscious surfacing to hint at the actual truth. He can't help it because he's unaware of such things as the subconscious. IMO.

My understanding was that although they attended the same high school, they didn't start dating until a few years later. Her family lived on a golf course and BM worked there. Since I don't remember where I read that, I will say MOO.

so did the interview/ speech just confirm the usual suspect was at the search site, no theives, not other workers- that night where "noise for 30 minute woke neighbor" and what does this imply as to why there ( it WAS HIM making racket no?) besides his mechanical excuse for his mistaken claim to L.E. ?

And a store manager at the Poncha Market described an encounter with Suzanne’s husband, a few days after Suzanne’s disappearance was publicized.

“Somebody knocked on the window and it was Barry Morphew,” Tiffany Butala said.
Butala is a store manager at the market and watched Barry on May 12th around 8 p.m. write the note on the back of a receipt.

“He went to write down a description of maybe what she was wearing,” Butala said. “I just thought it was weird because he didn’t explain the color of her eyes were or her hair or anything about her like how tall she was or anything.”

Thanks for posting his 'note'.
Well of course BM didn't explain her appearance.
Speculation :
That's because he knows it's useless as she may not even be in one complete piece.
He knows that LE are not looking for an alive person.
Hence the focus on the items.

Want to bet that these are the personal item(s) found ?
Wonder if LE missed anything ?
Maybe BM could help LE and point them out ?
Why not, BM ?
Imo.

Barry did admit an inconsistency in one timeline he provided to investigators.

“It was only because I didn’t know the time that I did something, a mechanical thing, to my bobcat,” he said. “I was confused and I just found out my wife was missing, and I was a little bit not in my right mind when they were asking me these questions, but I did the best I could and I answered everything. I never once declined any interview.”

Regardless of what others may think, Barry said a big concern of his is the way in which the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office has handled this investigation.

“The Sheriff’s Department screwed this whole thing up from the beginning and now they are trying to cover it up and blame it on me,” he said. He went on to cite an incident he found particularly troubling, which occurred, he said, when deputies found his wife’s bike.

“My buddy was there right after that, and he said that they completely destroyed the evidence, and he tried to stop them, but they wouldn’t listen to him and said, ‘this is not CSI,'” Barry said. “There’s no evidence for the investigators to see because the Sheriff’s Department completely obliterated it.”

This tells me all I need to know ... a'la Lecticia Stauch

Re. the lavender bolded :
More B.S.
(Barry-'Splaining . Or insert your own interpretation. ;) )

Re. the pink bolded :
I don't believe this at all, that's my opinion.
It's entirely possible LE asked for BM to hold a presser with them to get the word out about finding Suzanne, and it's also possible reporters asked for an interview.
But all we received was a 'chance encounter' where BM controlled the narrative.

So, if BM doesn't know what happened...what exactly is it, that LE, CBI, and the FBI are blaming on BM ?
For all he knows, a mountain lion attacked her, she veered off the road on her bike & fell into the creek, or she left with someone else -- of her own volition.
In which case there was no crime.

I can't believe he's still pushing the abduction theory, the mountain lion attack, the fell into the creek theory, the 'met someone she knew' (who then harmed her ?) theory.
Can't he just pick one story and stick with it ?

Speculation :
The most plausible lie he could have come up with would be that she left her life behind, and does not want to be contacted.
The problem he might have foreseen with that 'explanation' is that her daughters and the Moorman family wouldn't have fallen for such a falsehood.
I have every reason to believe Suzanne was dearly loved by her daughters and the Moorman family !

If Suzanne left on her own, there'd be no crime scene to investigate, and now recently-- no worries about the "mechanical thing" (agreed with others, what the heck does that even mean ?) he did to his bobcat.
My guess is that he had to switch out the front end loader portion, or -- that it was exceptionally clean as in strangely pristine, compared to the other parts of the b.c.?
Like L. Stauch "explaining" about why the investigators would find Gannon's blood on Albert's woodworking tools , and Gannon's dna/blood in various parts of the house including the electrical socket in his bedroom. :(

Keep talking, BM.

Imo.

Honestly, my first thought. He might be implying SM was spending time with someone known to her and that person harmed her. I also get the impression he believes this is someone she should not have been with.

"People don't know the truth" , "oh Suzanne", "it's too soon".

Who knows really.... IMO
Ita.
So, who is it, BM ?
Tell us !
Or at least reveal this mystery perp to LE.
We're waiting......

Barry keeps revealing to me, at least, that he is not all he cracks himself up to be. For instance, his apparent mistake about searching a 200 mile radius, when he probably meant diameter or even area. He's a contractor? If I myself made that mistake I would immediately correct it, just like we all do when we catch ourselves saying something obviously not correct, a measurement we learned in 4th grade, a bell goes off. Then, a puma dragging a 115 pound kill "up into the mountains". As I stated before, usually a predator will retreat to a decent distance, a football field or 2, then eat the prey.
I don't believe he has that much experience in the field, plus there would have been pieces of her clothing caught on branches and rocks. Also leaving at 5 am to go set up a construction site for 24 hours later. That was probably a lie anyway, but why would anyone buy that? Then the "mechanical thing". Even I wouldn't say that, I know next to nothing about engines/construction vehicles but if I did do something to one, like charge a battery, check the oil, or change a brake light bulb (yeah, basic knowledge here) that's what I would say to someone....I checked the oil, whatever. (Yes I know a couple of you have mentioned this vagueness of Barry's re the mechanical "thing", to my mind it's just another way of hiding what he was doing to the bobcat. Meaning it is important, imo.)

Anyway, i don't think this is any mountain man hunter, or math wizard, or particular outdoors person at all.
When my boys were teens they would call someone like him a “poser.” Yup, BM is a poser. Plays the big man on someone else’s coat tails and likely on SM’s dime. JMHO

I think of my own Dad, who has passed. These are men from a certain generation, private, less involved in their children’s day to day than many of us are. I saw photos of Suzanne with her Dad, and I saw love. Her father spoke for her. I am sure my Dad would have done the same-very uncomfortably, which makes it so much more difficult to watch. This man wants to make sure his baby is found, before he departs this earth. And Suzanne’s brother wants to do this for him, for his sister. This is the emotion that was missing. Suzanne does have a voice.
I agree and how difficult it must have been to deliver such horrible news to a man his age and in such poor health. I couldn't have done it.

Suzanne's brother Andy, beginning at 7:09

- I believe in the CBI, I believe in the FBI and I believe in Salida's police department. They are good people, not perfect but none of us are.
- I tell you what, we are not going to quit looking until we find my little sister. If I have to put on the largest manhunt known to man, I'll do it, under the authorities.
- Organized and well, it may come to that soon, I don't know. I so appreciate you guys (PE) looking into this.
- I want the public to know my Dad's 87, he fragile. I've had to tell him things I've never wanted to tell my Father. This has been a rough damn time.
- Yes, we've been quiet. We did not want to fudge up the investigation. But now, we won't stop at nothing to find my little sister, ever.
- This family is a good family, we're solid, there's nothing goofy about us, we're transparent and happy to be so and I can assure you we will not quit until Suzanne is found.
- I want that done before my Father leaves this earth. I want him to have answers, I want her to have a proper burial or a homecoming whichever it will be.
- I mean that from my heart. I want the answers, I may not want to hear them when I find out, but I want the answers regardless.
- I need to bring Suzanne home, I need to properly bury her, where she is properly buried next to my Mother in the Alexandria cemetery, in the place she grew up.
- If that's what has to happen. I'm going to stop at nothing to get it done, nothing. I mean that from my heart.
- You guys are so instrumental in what's going on, please keep this alive. Please ask people to call the FBI, the CBI with any tidbit, I don't care what it is.
- Any tidbit is better than none, pieces will come together, we'll figure it out. They are already starting too and this helps.

Moo. It is interesting that the email was sent to the former Indiana church soon after Suzanne went missing. And now we hear his disgusting nonsense about how pleased Suzanne is to be murdered if it saves one person. He doesn't understand how that sounds. He just doesn't get it.

I'm calling BS on BM. I feel that he is trying to hide under some kind of spiritual persona, hoping that the church members will come to his aid, insisting that he is innocent. What he doesn't understand is that truly spiritual people can see him for what he is, a con. But I bet that they loved Suzanne.

Same for his group of buddies in Salida. I'm thinking that he had great fun when he moved to Salida and could sell his puffed up image to a fresh audience. He's trying to rally support. Strength in numbers. He so needs someone to take his side. I'm not aware that anyone has done that.
In truth, he is a shell of a man. Immature, fake. I think he has a life long pattern of seeing others as objects to be used for his gain. It's catching up with him.
Moo
