The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday it has begun a death investigation after deputies found human bones in Highlands Ranch.

At about 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, a resident called the sheriff’s office to alert them that the resident had found a human skull and other bone fragments while playing disc golf at the West Fork Disc Golf Course in Highlands Ranch, according to a press release from DCSO. The resident was searching for a disc when they discovered the bones in a ditch filled with trees and brush, according to a spokesperson.

My comment. This is an area where a golf course was completed in May and it seems a little coincidental that Suzanne also went missing in May and now human remains are found there. MOO.

ETA if you look at the tent picture, is that a skull on the table inside the tent?

Praying this Soul will be identified soon, and their Family and Friends will have closure.

I can only assume that Barry believes he is better at searching than anyone else on this planet. He searches every day, yet will not ask for help. He puts out a reward, yet does nothing to publicize it. He criticizes the handling of the case, yet refuses to come out in public to discuss it. He hides. What’s he afraid of? Big tough guy who insists he is innocent, but does not have the stones to stand before all and do whatever he can to find his wife, the mother of his heartbroken children. He is ridiculous. It’s all about him.

Thanks @Seattle1, :) the list only showed the deed from Suzanne so that's where the confusion came in.

After years and countless hours scrubbing no-fee county recorder and/or online public records sites, I finally gave in and subscribed to a service recommended by a friend that heads a Title Company. It's their business not to miss anything, and the time I save is worth the fee. Unfortunately, I'm a view only subscriber so I can't link but I can at least reply to OP's questions or confirm from records already posted.

When has the media ever helped in a missing person case?

Too many to count. It’s the reason that families complain when their cases don’t get the kind of attention that other cases get. It brings forth witnesses, convinces people to step forward to do the right thing, generates tips, results in people checking their camera systems, and turns up the heat on law enforcement organizations that may be dragging their feet.

Look no further than the Vanessa Guillen case for an example of the latter.

The Profiling Evil guys touched on this, and how the public tends to help law enforcement solve crimes. Not by doing their work for them, but giving them the information they need.

This is why in just about every missing persons case ever, family members get in front of the camera.

Stauch, Berreth, Guillen, Tibbetts; the list goes on and on. This is unprecedented, at least when we’re talking about an innocent spouse.

Thank you for this!

It’s really insulting for anyone to believe LE would play games anyway. This is their career. It’s what they do. I’m in full support of our LE. Where would any of these cases be without LE giving their time and attention in helping victims of crimes?
100% agree with you on this. As frustrating as it is for Suzanne not to have been found by now, I fully support and have confidence in LE.

Watts, Frazee, Anthony etc... Media attention is without question helpful. It may be almost antagonistic, but this can be a highly effective tool.

Bequeathed Real Est? Death of Spouse?
@marylamby are you asking -- who gets it, a partial property interest in a real est parcel, either w or w'out home?
Repeating: One point to bear in mind: A couple may enter a pre- nuptial (or post-) agreement, to set terms for property division on separation, divorce, or death, or all three, so the st. prop laws may not apply w those events.

This post relates to (hypothetical) DEATH. CO. law. From nolo again, almost same in CO. as IN law post I made above.
"Many valuable assets don’t go through your will and aren’t affected by intestate succession laws. Here are some examples:
  • property you’ve transferred to a living trust
  • life insurance proceeds
  • funds in an IRA, 401(k), or other retirement account
  • securities held in a transfer-on-death account
  • payable-on-death bank accounts
  • real estate held by transfer-on-death or beneficiary deed, or
  • property you own with someone else in joint tenancy." bbm [like this prop?]
"These assets will pass to the surviving co-owner or to the beneficiary you named, whether or not you have a will."
"Under intestate succession, who gets what depends on whether or not you have living children, parents, or other close relatives when you die ...."
See chart at link, and sections on spouse's share and children's shares.

When has the media ever helped in a missing person case?

Media is a broad term. TV, radio, social media have all spread the word about missing persons, and enlisted people to start searching.

Rainn Peterson is an example that comes to mind. Missing toddler found safe in an Ohio field, thanks to a volunteer searcher.

I wonder if BM called LE as soon as the story was published about the human remains to ask LE questions about identification, whether it was a male or female, whether or not they thought it could be SM, if clothing and/or jewelry was found on or near the remains, etc.

One would assume that a husband who's been frantically and tirelessly searching for their missing wife would immediately jump on any and every report of human remains being located.

So, who's thinking BM was ringing the phone off the hook down at the station today?

Anyone? Anyone?

JMO.

I think BM is waiting for his neighbor to get home and call for him. He never remembers the number. SM took care of those types of things. It might be later but he's planning on it if he don't fall asleep. For the neighbors, Thursday's can be a bit busy with Farmer's Market and Rib Night at the lodge.

But let me say there's never excusing CCSO. They answer their phones 24/7 live. You can talk to the Jailer just as fast as your fingers can dial and they're more than obliged to confirm any name you provide and their bond status. And if it's night shift and you're feeling chatty, ask for Andy. Tell him Seattle says hey. :D

You forgot the ever important push up contest at the local gym. I hear that may be pressing as well.

We are not going away. We want Justice for victims and their loved ones. We will be here regardless. We will always seek the truth and the answers. Forever. Imo

So glad to see that Tyson's contribution to this case has been acknowledged by several highly-regarded professionals in the fields of law enforcement, profiling, and prosecution (PE guys and NG). I was shocked at the initial negative reactions to what he did because it seemed so valuable to me.

I will admit I was initially not on board with TD.
And to be perfectly honest, I'm still not okay with amature vloggers sticking their nose into criminal cases.
Many of them do it just for the hits/views.
Many of them are entirely unprofessional. (and I can tell you that likely accounts for the negative reaction from many).
TD on the other hand, has (in my estimation) tried to be as courteous and professional as possible.
So, my hat is off to him.

,,,BONES IN A DITCH FILLED WITH TREES AND BRUSH.

If the landscaper was hired to lay sod, the landscaper might have to remove trees and brush. IMO.
Ditches are great places to dump stuff, stuff which could be hidden under trees and brush.
Do landscapers work alone at times?
Could the ditch have been a temporary resting place for SM?
Would staff blink an eye seeing BM on the property, if BM had been hired to lay sod etc.?

I read a comment from someone who recently played the course...wishing more sod would be laid.
MOO

BBM

Not to mention that the course opened in May......no one would think it odd for the landscape contractor to be checking up on the site and making sure everything was in order prior to it's opening! You know, making sure nothing was crooked!

Who knows if it's Suzanne, but it's odd to me that those remains were only just discovered by someone playing the course and not by workers clearing the land & building the course....unless they weren't there until construction was finished! o_O

One thing that gives me doubt is that I'm sure LE has cell phone pings & GPS tracking data from BM's truck to know where he went that weekend & on Mother's Day, so if he went to Highlands Ranch I think we would've heard about it and SAR would have been in that area already.

MOO JMO

I can’t believe it, I’ve finally caught up here! Thank you to all of you wonderful sleuthers for keeping me up to date on everything. I wish I had something insightful to add.

My heart breaks for Suzanne’s daughters, my thoughts and prayers go out to them. I cannot imagine losing my mother, tho it almost happened recently, just not at all like this. Also, the entire Mooreman family, Gene and Andy have done an excellent job by coming forward with their input. Their pain hurts me too.

When has the media ever helped in a missing person case?

I don't want to download my entire twitter feed but let me start with just a few media pros that won't let their cases go cold:

KOAA/Sam Kraemer (Kelsey Berreth)
Fox21/Lauren Sharf (Suzanne Morphew)
News12CT/Marissa Alter (Jennifer Dulos)
Courant/Dave Altimari (Jennifer Dulos)
Fox61/Tony Terzi (Vanessa Morales)

There are so many dedicated professionals in journalism/media as there are LE. This is only a fraction but they know who they are.

Feel free to add.
