E

Early required - I am not trying to bash L.E. , just open it up for discussion and asking why not require L.E. to offend some family member by simply asking them to take a Lie test,( if no iron clad alibi, a gut feeling by L.E. , a tip, anything). Not that it will hold up in court, but that it could, could may get 1 bad guy even once to tip his hand by refusing and help help the direction of the search, I am not talking waterboarding and I often hear in cases "refused test" but is it or should it be optional or required before spending tax dollars on 11 agencies to search on day 6?

Requiring a polygraph would be a 5th amendment violation. You can’t make someone talk.

It is just too quiet. From both parties.

Many non-profits don't have a website - especially small ones. Also, if you are not asking for donations, or providing grants, why would you need a website?

My guess is that this lovely family set up the non-profit for future activities.

Also, a non-profit can be set up by wealthy people to receive a portion of a future inheritance - to save on taxes, of course. But also, the mindset is why give it to the government when I can give it to my foundation and do charitable work in line with my beliefs. I mean, they aren't getting out of all taxes, but they can sure decrease them. And bonus, it's money you can spend supporting causes/people you deem worthy.

Around here (MA) quite a lot of people have these small personal foundations that get used for small one-time or irregular charitable donations, like sponsoring kids to athletic or religious summer camps, supporting art shows, bringing city kids into fresh air programs, etc. Athletes have the most well known ones but anybody can do it, and not necessarily wealthy people.

I'm not saying that's what SM was doing or anything, just that it is a thing and doesn't mean anything sinister. And very unlikely to be related to why she disappeared.

Official missing poster lacks descriptive info (height, weight, hair, eye, scars, tats, etc.), discouraging community from joining the search, no strong SAR presence, FBI involved, no warning to the community about a possible psychopath on the loose kidnapping women, want people to hold on to their Ring footage from May 8-12, cagey with their words or just outright tight-lipped...

I think LE knows or has a good idea what happened, they're building a case on someone.

Chaffee Co. Sheriff John Spezze: "As you know, Suzanne Morphew disappeared on...[stops, corrects himself] ...became a missing person on Sunday the 10th..."

I don't think she went on that bike ride, I think she disappeared before Sunday.
Very possible, @Ninja Bunny -- IMO. No one at her home with her...

If she was killed, where did it happen? This could certainly have occurred -- but where? Was it random -- perhaps she was seen outside walking or biking and then she was kidnapped? Certainly possible -- it's fairly spread out in that area -- seeing a struggle or hearing a scream, etc., out there could be difficult to detect.
Did someone come into her house and take her by force? Threatening her with a weapon? Did she take a walk, jog, bike ride and fall into brush so that her body has not yet been seen? Would this be possible? I don't know the lay of the land there.
What about the "crime scene" that was mentioned -- strong evidence that something bad happened? Arrggghhh. Tuff one, this.
And... but... the bicycle... hmmm. o_O

Wow, this post is so very informative, isn't it??!!

If they started a early required lie detector test system ,wouldn't that make a lot of guilty people expose themselves by refusing? Or confuse L.E. more trying to figure out if person refusing is either " no way how dare u suspect me my rights being violated " type or for real poi?
I don’t think they need a lie detector test when they may already know someone is lying by evidence they have already uncovered. I don’t think asking someone to submit to one works in LE’s interest either. Any attorney worth his or her salt would advise against it anyway. Regardless if someone is innocent, why risk getting a false reading. If my hubby went missing and I knew I had nothing to do with it, I would tell LE what I know and let them figure out the rest. That’s what they’re good at, at least the majority of them. I tend to be an anxious person, though I work hard at not worrying too much, but I seriously doubt I could pass a lie detector test in a stressful situation. MOO

Still asking for tips
For tips in reference to the missing person, Suzanne Morphew, please call the tip line. Please do not call the Sheriff’s records division or dispatch. Please do not email or post the tip to this page, for expediency in investigating the information, they must be called into the tip line.

Thanks for the education on the law.And special thanks to susiQ for heartfelt explanation . Indian way was hot knife to tongue to see if lying. Looks like waterboarding is out now too. Looks like we wait. Punishment following this and all the handcuffs put on L.E. God bless L.E. praying on a good outcome.Motown

Good points.
Some are pushing the abduction theory; but LE aren't treating it as such :
Not even a description of her clothes, possible tats, what type of bike, etc.
No appeal to the public to be on the lookout for random kidnappers.
No appeals to the kidnappers themselves.

Read between the lines and speculate.

Re lie detector tests.
If asked for too early, there is also the risk that a potential suspect would clam up, stop cooperating, and retain an attorney before LE had an opportunity to speak to the guy, catch him in lies, contradictions or changing stories, assess behavior etc, and keep an eye on him while investigating.

Regarding the before mentioned piles of stuff in front of the Salida Walmart, I live in Buena Vista which is about a half hour drive from Salida. In the summertime, you many times see a particular man along the highways, etc. and in close towns with all this stuff. I assume it's all his personal belongings and people must give him rides from place to place. I actually was in Salida yesterday and saw him in town along Highway 50 east of Walmart somewhere. I'm guessing it might have been his stuff that you saw.

A-ha!! This is what I was suspecting...
& thanks for all the helpful posts everyone :)
BTW - the stuff was next to the street/on the street etc: not sidewalks, or actually in front of a storefront or such, - just randomly next to busy streets - I should have been clear.
My boyfriend will be relieved & I can say 'told you so' lol ;)

I can’t imagine calling the police to report a loved one missing only to have them say,”We’re going to have to give you a polygraph test before we start looking.”
I believe Mark Klass took a polygraph immediately to eliminate himself from suspicion iirc.

Hoping for UPDATES soon from LE, preferably with good news.

Yes, Mark understood the quicker he was cleared, the sooner LE would focus elsewhere.
