The husband of missing Colorado mom Suzanne Morphew spent the night before she vanished at a budget hotel in Denver – and left the room reeking of chlorine, a co-worker has claimed exclusively to DailyMail.com.

Now DailyMail.com can reveal that a co-worker of Barry’s took over his Holiday Inn hotel room on May 10 and found it scattered with wet towels and stinking of chlorine.

I'm looking forward to Lauren's interview with JP, I think she will clarify the details that matter.
Yeah, I thought AM said something about BM planning to be away for four days. He seemed to be confused about that. I think the whole "fixing the wall" story didn't add up for him.

What we learned today served to support what I’ve believed all along.

I think the hotel was booked last minute, and was used as an alibi. If true, then it would be a massive lie on Barry’s part (he told Lauren he left Suzanne in bed at 5am on Mother’s Day.

Barry had no intention of fixing a wall. He just needed time, distance, and a plausible alibi.

Also, I think we now know why the bike was thrown where it was. He couldn’t leave it out in the open on Saturday night, as it would be discovered too soon. I think he knew that there was a good chance that no one would find it until the time was right. Of course, he helped with that.

Whats this new news?

I mean, he still has to eat, right? It doesn't appear to be a block party but him in the privacy of his home (well he thought) and grilling food. IMO
Looks like BM may have decided to plug those security cameras back in, no time like the present.

I think the significance of the mail may not what the mail was, but the fact that BM had it at all. If he left that mail in the mailbox, it might show that Suzanne wasn’t around to retrieve it. Remember, Suzanne has to still be alive on Sunday, as she “went for a bike ride.”

It all comes down to what time the mail arrives.

Of course it’s also possible that something arrived in the mail on Saturday, and it sparked a major argument.

The employee at check in probably makes $12 and has been super bored for weeks due to COVID as long as BM asked nicely I dont think theyd give it a second thought to let him in early, they dont make enough to worry about thoroughly checking out some random, but social presentable guy is actually doing
I was being facetious. We have asked for early check-in. They always accommodate when possible. Normal check-in time is usually around 3 p.m. (at least, for the places we have been).

I’m still firmly in the premeditated camp. I always thought that BM’s supposed alibi (or is it alibiS now) would come back to bite him.

Just because things are messy doesn’t mean he didn’t plan this ahead of time. Some people get so caught up in the planning of the murder and they don’t really think about the details of what happens right after. For example, I think of Nicole Lovell. Her murder was planned but the killer didn’t seem to have really thought out the next steps.

As has been mentioned, peanut butter is good on burgers. Also it's possible he was using the peanut butter jar for grease rather than pouring it in the yard or down the sink.
I know. My bad attempt at humor, lol :)

I’m not following?

I guess the whirlpool was closed, too.

Yup.

I've wondered about whether or not one of the things that tipped LE off to the Sunday bike ride being bogus was the Saturday mail being left in the mailbox.

It looks like BM remembered to retrieve the mail on his way out of dodge Saturday, after all.

So, that answers that question.

And we all know mail isn't delivered on Sunday. They obviously were going under financially. If they had good credit these bills could have been strung along for awhile until cards were maxed out. SM may have had no idea that it was happening or she did and would have preferred to move back to Indiana and sell the Colorado home. Whatever was going on was more than simple bill issues. It was deep. And deep usually means lies. Lies to cover up. I don't know about anyone else here but being broke isn't the end of things to me, but lie to me once, lie to me twice, I'm calling you out to face the music. moo

You and @marylamby make good points.

There may have been bills and financial issues that BM was hiding from SM. One of the thoughts that came to me more than once during this case is that those family vacations look fairly expensive (as does some of the clothing and accessories). I've come to believe that many of the house's furnishings may have come with the house - but at $1.5M, I still think that house was on the high end of local pricing, even with the acreage (it isn't a huge house like some in that price range, also with acreage). It was expensive to heat it in the winter, with all that glass.

Just how much could BM be making, with a newly started business in a new area (not even 2 years old, I believe)? And during CoVid?

If SM had been focusing on her own health and well-being and BM was handling the finances, she might not have known how much financial trouble they were in (and which BM is still in). It's definitely possible that SM didn't know about the sale of the Indiana house (stranger things have happened) or had just found out about it.

Many small business owners had their worlds collapse since March. Divorces and domestic violence are up (divorces are up 34% was one of yesterday's headlines).

At any rate, there's some chaos and stress in the Morphew home before any of this goes down - I think most of us would bet on it.

Being of similar age to the neighbor, I definitely would have checked the mail to see if anyone was around. He could have had his eye on the mail for a long time, kind of pre planning. I guess we don't know if there is a real mail box, a slot in the door, whatever? Delivery at the bottom of the hill?

well he remembers that his wife used to slather his steaks with butter, but he didn't have any so
peanut butter it is.

:) the Duane Purvis burger was created in Lafayette, IN and is a worthwhile burger if passing through. It's a cholesterol laden masterpiece of a burger with a layer of Peanut Butter on it, much better for a nap than Melatonin.

I'm convinced @oviedo gets paid a commission each time this link is followed. And I'm jealous of her millions. IMO ;-)
Lol it’s just such a great article on the investigation I can’t help but post it for our sleuthers who worry that nothing is happening with LE

I'm firmly in the BM is a supremely idiotic stupid man camp

He's also highly narcissistic

Entitled

& accustomed to getting what he wants hell or high-water, his way or the highway, no two way streets with him

He manipulates, flat out lies, bamboozles, gaslights & plain bullies & railroads anyone in his way

He simply expects to get whatever he wants & have his way

With traits like that it's difficult to say whether he planned this or not - each way I turn it I'm confronted with his basic personality thus described

Excepting some incredible evidence I'll probably remain on the fence - until LE brings him to trial, that is ;)

That, and his insistence that his "expensive work tools" couldn't be left in his truck...
I wonder if there is video at the Holiday Inn Express of him hauling in a toolbox the kind that fits in/on the bed of a pickup truck. Easy way to disclose tools or a body and a great cover if you’re driving miles with a dead body IMO
Also I’ve seen mention of Barry purchasing a new truck in the recent days following Suzanne’s disappearance. Does anyone have a link? I’m not sure if this is factual or suspicious. TIA
