I’ve got to go catch up since last night—thread is fast! But all I can say is BLEACH and missing COOLERS. :(

Oh and BM insisting he did nothing wrong at the hotel, FBI lies and making sure we know JP was in prison! This guy could not be more obvious.

It's been refreshing to hear from those who are sharing what they know about this case, especially ones that have talked to LE. I just keep going back to this is news to us but it can't be to LE, who has really not confirmed much of anything in this case. So, I'm not so sure an arrest of a bad guy is coming that quickly. IMO

Then we have what appears to me like a BM going on the defensive. He does appear to be very reactive to these media interviews with those he knows. It's been interesting to see that part unfold. IMO

oh for sure. his comment about there being cameras everywhere makes me think he knew the exact whereabouts of any cameras at that hotel.

I agree and a person has to look up to spot them and most people dont look up often which is a crazy "thing" about humans.

Growing up in a hunting family, it took me years to train myself to always look up in the trees.

I dont hunt much anymore but I do enjoy seeing wildlife and once you know to always look up, it is amazing what you will see. I have spotted sleeping racoons way up in the trees on numerous occasions. Its a rare sight to begin with, and a normal city type person will never see one sleeping in the trees because people generally dont look up. Its just a crazy thing about us humans that we have to train ourselves for.

Someone like BM to know where security cameras are means he was purposely looking up for them in the eaves and corners of the motel.

This. Barry expected to be away for 4 days, but never got his own room. How many rooms did he rent? Was anyone else doubled up? I think that JP is just the first person who spoke out publicly about being part of that crew. Pretty odd that Barry would seek him out for this job. I’m sure that LE had a lot of questions about that. It’s all of the things that make no sense.

It wasn't 100% clear to me that he was leaving to set up and then return home on Sunday, or leaving on Mother's Day to be gone 4 days or ?? long.

Would be interested in the Mother's Day card and/or gift that he left for her, or how they celebrated. (disclaimer: Not married, don't have kiddos... but don't husbands usually do a card and or gift or ?? for mothers Day? Especially when not there?)

IMO, the delay is getting lab results back from the various search warrant sites that is the main hold up in this case. The more we hear, the more we learn that there is most likely a lot of physical evidence. It’s just that lab work is slow and I bet COVID (at least in the May - July) time frames made it even slower.

It would be interesting if he had had stayed at that hotel previously, say like a month prior, and is on video just wandering around looking at everything in the hotel and parking lot.

I thought about that too, in that maybe some rooms weren't covered by cameras? Possible in a cookie cutter hotel like that? Do they have elevators?

...yes, that is very, very interesting!
11th Judicial District, Colorado is the
D.A.'s office serving Chaffee County.
Great catch that you note it hasn't
been included previously!

Not accurate, as the 11th Judicial District was on board within 2 days of her going missing:

"In conjunction with the search the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into the disappearance of Ms Morphew. Investigators from the 11th Judicial District, Colorado Bureau of Investigations, the Salida Police Department, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigations have joined the effort." Update on Suzanne Morphew search Tipline established - Chaffee County Sheriff

At some point, BM was grumbling about LE picking on him. He claimed he has been 100% forthcoming but made one teeny little mistake about fixing the bobcat - he 'accidentally' got the time of the repair wrong.

No idea what the fix was or where or when it took place.
the fix supposedly was what he was doing at 11:30pm at the Salida building site- working on his bobcat- the neighbor woke up from the loud noise and later came forward to LE>

Not unlike Stockholm syndrome, where relatives take on a hostage-like persona.
The Morphew daughters are hostages to their current situation. BM is using the "Royal We" in some of his answers, ensuring that he speaks on behalf of a three-person unit.
Getting them out of that situation and into a therapeutic environment asap is going to be crucial to their future well-being and recovery.
Further complicating their situation during their college years they are both probably still financially dependent on their father.

Indeed, his first reaction toward JP, was to publicly out him as an ex-con... implying, he shouldn't be believed because: 9 years in prison.

Classy move, Barry. o_O

I don’t want Lauren to share her transcripts. Why? Because I want Barry to continue to call her and trust her and talk.

I also like Barry saying that the Broomfield job had been planned for a month and wasn’t something new.

Yet, he talks to a guy that has never worked for him Saturday, and then on Sunday which is also Mother’s Day, he orders that guy to immediately come up to Broomfield for the job.

And the job that had been planned for a month, doesn’t have dirt, tools or machinery needed to do the job.

Keep talking Barry, you’re the smartest guy around. Please tell us everything.

What was/Is Morgan’s job title? And based on this job title, did it make sense that she’d be one of the two co-workers who also had a room? Curious to find out on what day she arrived and at what time. I’m up on the fence again.

The only approved source (so far) to mention the names of the 2 other people on BM's crew, Morgan and Cassidy, never mentioned last names, what their job titles are, what day/time they got to the motel, if they had their own rooms or any other info about either of them.

I'd sure be interesting if Lauren could interview these two folks the way she did JP.
I wonder what BM's reaction would be to those interviews - throw them under the bus the way he did JP?

I’m not sure it matter now. If BM gets that tripped up talking to a news reporter for a few minutes, can you imagine him giving dozens of hours of testimony to the FBI/CBI.

DA's Resignation Could Change Course Of Cold Case Murder Investigation

This article talks about the DA's and the CCSO having some disagreements over whether or not to send a cold case to the GJ. It also discusses the former DA resigning, as does this article:

District attorney Chilson tenders resignation letter

Interesting dynamics.

The new DA does not seem to have much criminal prosecution or jury trial experience...IMO

Thank you for these articles @Cassady MOO If Spezze might have reservations about the DA’s abilities to successfully prosecute this case, could Spezze be holding presenting his total case against BM until after the election in November? BBM for emphasis

I’ve looked @ the incumbent DA’s background and you are correct, little if any criminal prosecution experience. She’s certainly no Dan May (ElPaso County DA, prosecuted PF in the Kelsey Berreth case). Dan May’s office also worked the case against Letecia Stauch in Gannon Stauch case, filing charges before AG’s body was found. Still catching up!

logical

The comment is by Bran muffin.
@branmuffin Back in May or June I posted a couple of links to information regarding the geological makeup of Colorado around Maysville. Plus a guide to all the abandoned mines in the area. I don't think BM is a criminal mastermind but one thing I do think he knows well is rocks. Boulders, granite, shale, gravel, etc. And I would imagine he knows where deposits of them are and how easy it would be to cover a dead body, or parts thereof, with rocks.

I keep coming back to that image of BM that TD mentioned where he was bare chested, soaking wet and cold looking the day before the videotape of BM explaining what happened to the bike. According to TD he appeared as if he'd been in the creek or the river and he walked up to his truck and sat in it with his chest against the steering wheel then he drove slowly away. I was looking at what was around there on the other side of the creek/river.

There is an old unused mine called Copper King mine just on the other side of the Arkansas River just a bit south and east of the Morphew home. I wonder whether he placed SM somewhere near that mine or under a wash of stones. Or parts of her.

I have no real idea how SM was killed. Initially, I thought it would be a bloodless murder like a strangling, drowning or suffocation, since I believed it was premeditated and that blood evidence would have been discovered during the search of the Morphew home in late May. But now we know about the abrupt end to the social media messaging between SM and her friend, I'm not so sure. It could be they got in an argument that escalated and she just got disgusted with the whole thing and put her phone down an walked away. And he followed her.

But BM being seen soaking wet and cold makes me think he was ensuring that something he had hidden was still hidden.

I also wondered whether the building site was dug up because cadaver dogs got a hit under the cement and even though it appeared they had no physical evidence in terms of bone fragments, etc I wondered if soil samples provided evidence of a dead body. JMO MOO
Plus whatever he was up to he felt the need to friend TD the next time he saw him purposely to tell what "happened". He also kept mentioning searching "up" as if that was the way SM had been taken and the article found was "up".
I totally agree that any searches should be in that direction.

What hotel was it? Depends on the age/configuration/neighborhood on cameras. Some are more motel type with exterior doors and stairs. The crews I worked with preferred this set up so they could back the truck up to the door and hear if any issues. Cameras at office/lobby/parking lot/maybe some door/room views.

I'm having thoughts about the lack of coolers, and the possible use of the Bobcat at an odd time, and remembering Anne Marie Fahey and her being dumped in the ocean in a cooler that wouldn't sink and had to be shot. Also, my dad was a big outdoors guy and had a gigantic cooler to put an intact fish in for taxidermy later. Easy to fit an adult in there, without any grisly post-mortem work. I wonder if BM thought by burying Suzanne in the cooler, it would stop the scent?

No matter what, not having any coolers at all is very strange. Even when I lived in a student apartment, I still had a litte Igloo stuck in the closet, KWIM?

MOO

I watched an ID channel show just 3 days ago. The wife killed husband, put him under three truckloads of dirt. And then when she thought the home was going to be foreclosed on, she had her 3rd hubby and ?Two or Three of his friends  move the body (which had been dismembered already and put into black plastic bags) to their carport, put him in a container such as we see/use for xmas decor, and then laid quick-creet (sp?) over such.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars later, one of the folks that was friend of one told LE the story. LE were disbelieving as they didn't even know of anyone missing/murdered, as the person that was involved didn't state who the dead person was. That CI person got wired, and one involved was caught on wire explaining it all to CI. LE was stunned. LE dug up carport concrete. She got convicted, the three helpers got nothing as was past the time for prosecution/statute of limitation. Oh yeah, and that woman is getting out in 2024! (Old show indeed that was rerun this week)

I sometimes wonder if ID channel doesn't replay old episodes to coincide with current crimes in the news.

I would hope that if he had assistance, the DA would deal vs. waiting for statue of limitations on disposal of remains which is a crime (dunno, what are rules/law in CO) would have to wait for that to readdress to anyone who may have assisted.

(Not saying anyone did, just prompted by the ID show) and Barry stating "I will pay you well" yet did not state $20/hr or such... so was the fee stated in writing? What indeed was the fee and was it only discussed in person that Saturday face to face? (vs. me, who would want it in writing as to my expected payment?... why meet face to face??)

Pure MOO above based on MSM reports.
