i think he was at the hotel for clean-up only. he cleaned his truck, his tools, himself. maybe the mail was sitting in the truck, and he took it into the room to clean it off, bc something got "spilled" on it that he needed to wipe clean. he might not have actually even had the chlorine/bleach in the room. maybe it was the strong smell of chlorine/bleach that he was trying to clean off in the room.

as far as not leaving the tools for JP, BM knew for a fact he wasn't even possibly coming back to denver for the job, bc he knew how serious the situation was at home. those tools are his likelihood, so he took them home. i'm thinking he doesn't think too highly of JP, and thought he would be easy to keep quiet and only slightly confused.

I find this whole motel/mail/JP thing totally confusing. I can't discern even one single reason why BM called JP and told him to come to Broomfield.
  • BM didn't bring tools for JP to use.
  • BM couldn't use JP as a witness that BM was in Broomfield because he left before JP got there.
  • BM never talked to JP again and let him sit idle for 2 days in the hotel while there was a supposedly important job to be done.
  • Why didn't JP call BM and say, "Hey, where are the tools, and where's the job, and what am I doing here exactly?"
  • If you've done nefarious things in your hotel room, why didn't you rent another room for your employee so he wouldn't see or smell all your mess? At $92 a night, it's cheaper than having another witness, isn't it?
  • If you've gotten JP to come to work, and you have no plan, no tools, no workplace and no work for him to do, you've just added another witness for the prosecution.

agree- JP is important here just to show the
evolution of 'the alibi'.
If BM were a smarter bear, he would have left
cash money for JP at the motel. These workers loves to be paid in cash cause many don't even have a bank account and now banks charge to cash a check, even if the bank's own check.
That little favor endears many contractors to their worker bees. Harder for the employer but a real favor for the worker.
IMO- and I have a family member worker bee.

You make a great point. I don't think employees were well treated by BM. We have a report back in Indiana that paints him as a cruel bully of an employee. Sorry I don't have the link, but could find it. It struck me that the employee was "ordered" to go. Moo

Morning everyone! I was a bit delirious last night… it was late. J So, Barry going from Salida to Buena Vista to Denver area would take 285 North of course. Going from Denver to Buena Vista would be 285 South.

Also, it kind of stunned me that the Holiday Inn in Broomfield was portrayed as a cheap hotel… I think it’s because IHG (the company that owns it) markets that particular location as a “budget hotel” …. And for some reason “budget” may equal “cheap” for some… I don’t know. I would not worry at all about staying in that particular hotel… It’s new and in a nice area…

I just had a thought on the mail thing.

Why would JP mention the mail to the FBI so quickly? He surely didnt know all that was going on by Sunday night or possibly Monday? He wouldnt have thought the worse for SM by the time he talked to FBI?

I am kind of not buying the mail story. Would JP have profited from being interviewed or sensationalizing things to a degree? Why would he have thought on Monday morning Oh I need to take all this mail with me as the Fed's may need it, instead of returning it to BM?

A couple thoughts, moo

-I’d imagine JP & BMs relationship goes back much further than just that weekend. Perhaps something in their past dealings helped JP put 2 and 2 together and that is why the mail concerned him.

-Maybe JP thought possessing that mail could help him extort money from or blackmail BM. But once he saw that the FBI was involved, he changed his mind and turned the mail over to them.

So what I think is odd is that BM used the term "family emergency". If my husband was missing I'd just plain say, hey I had to leave because my husband is missing and I need to speak with the police. The term " family emergency" is just weird. The only thing at that moment to me would be the facts not the way I explained it or hid it. I mean you have someone who you called/saw willing to help you out on a job and you can't be clear with your explanation? I have a small business. I just tell it like it is. A couple weeks back it was my hubby fell and had a brain bleed. I didn't say, hey, we're in the hospital with a "family emergency" I just said it like it was. moo

I am going to stereotype here, apologies in advance-I know many men who would never offer any details of their personal life in a situation related to work. If JP (or any other worker) was not a close friend, family emergency would be the only thing said. I have had this discussion with males and females. It seems to be a different manner of speaking and sharing. Eg; ordering food in a restaurant: men issue orders, women ask. M: give me the steak. F: may I have the steak?

Maybe there really WAS a job scheduled & BM was just trying to keep things going normally—just not doing a great job of it. I think the hotel room was just BM trying to show he was in 1 place when he was in another & he just wasn’t very good at it, making JP totally suspicious.

I'm sure someone else has suggested this (I can't even pretend to read every page)... maybe the piece of mail is what started a fight?

ETA: So, he had to take it away from the house.

I think like a lot of this case we only have a few pieces of the puzzle and when we try to examine them it creates more questions than answers.

To me the big take seats are that the hotel stay might blow up BM’s self described time frame, their is suspicious and odd activity tied to that hotel at the time of SM’s disappearance, the hotel probably had a lot of security cameras and door lock data that will tell the story.

But didn't the employee who was interviewed by DM report BM paid him for the days he should have been on the job site? I took that to mean (perhaps foolishly) that BM might have said, hey I called you out here for a job, it didn't end up happening but I want you to be compensated for your time. I think this was fair. IMO

Just thinking about what’s come out in the past 24 hours and past discussions about BM and speculations of DV and narcissism- do you think there is ANY scenario in which BM folds? It might be a naive thought (especially in light of past cases), but might be the only way SM is ever found.
I doubt BM will fold, here's why:
Guys in his profession are tough tough cookies.
Think hyper-masculine BULL.
They think they're so tough and bully others
or use their bully fists to get their way.
Notice how quick he was to threaten TD about
recording their conversation? That's typical.
Heavy duty contractor work is not for sissies.

Just watch his demeanor, is he someone you'd want to mess with or make mad? Didn't think so.
BM has done this his whole life, pushing others
around. It's just his style.
MOO.

..."the DA isn't scared of no body cases".
Earlier we saw an article posted that claims the
current DA has a record of stalling on filing
some cases and being inexperienced. Is she
still the DA on this case?
I've been worried ever since I saw that article.
Anyone else remember this?

I'm glad you brought this up because I never checked back on the primary election results and it seems there's been an upset here with the candidate I thought would be best suited for handling this case! Kaitlin Turner, an appointee, has had one year on the job. She's the incumbent. Time to do some research on Linda Stanley... MOO

PRIMARY 2020 | Results in district attorney races

July 2, 2020

Of Colorado’s 22 judicial districts, there were six competitive primary races for district attorney on the ballot Tuesday. The principal role of district attorneys, who are elected on a partisan basis, is to bring cases against criminal offenders and provide support for crime victims. Consequently, several active prosecutors were among the candidates vying to lead their jurisdictions’ offices.
[..]

Eleventh Judicial District (R): The district encompassed by Chaffee, Custer, Fremont and Park counties has narrowly chosen Linda Stanley over Thom K. LeDoux by a 52%-48% margin. LeDoux previously held the office for two terms. Kaitlin Turner is the incumbent Democratic candidate, whom Gov. Jared Polis appointed in June 2019.

ETA: add link - more on Stanley

Chaffee County candidates get 5 minutes each on BVEC stage in Fourth of July forum

I'm replying to myself here; please bear with me!

Perhaps BM did something to SM on the Saturday evening at the place where the woman living near to the building site reported hearing heavy machinery being operated v late at night. If so, SM's body fragments/remains could have been washed away by the fast-flowing river immediately behind the building site.
He'd then be driving to the hotel to clean himself up under cover of darkness - much smaller chance of being spotted...

Yes that same possible scenario was mentioned a few times previously with the added possibility that some machine like a wood chipper could have been setup right near the river water with it's exit chute pointing right at the river.

Whether there at the Salida jobsite or whether some machines and equipment were removed to be used elsewhere are all possibilities. Being in the landscaping/hardscaping business, he did have access to multiple machines and tools.

Yes, somewhere it said he was eventually paid
by check, I believe.

I think that was another contractor he had the run in with. He wasn’t an employee. Charges were filed though.

Well sure, it was fair, but it has nothing to do with the main discussion of why the heck JP was called up there in the first place, or how the hotel timeline fits into this probable murder case.

If you can stomach it, google crime scene pics where a wood chipper was used.

There's no way this scenario happened. We would have confirmed remains of SM found by LE. IMO

Not in my house! Might be that three daughters grew up here but we are not wilting flowers by any form. Hubby has never had qualms about sharing with employees. :D

I think it may depend on how horrific his treatment of Suzanne's body has been. If she was dismembered, crushed, or burned, I highly doubt that he will ever reveal her location. It would expose to the world his monstrous nature. His image is of vital importance to his psyche. We see his bluster in the video with TD. He's constantly projecting a false self because his true self is unbearable. I think suicide is more likely than him revealing her location. IMO however, I think he will never admit guilt, be convicted, and think he will convince those closest to him he was railroaded. He has no clue as to what others can see. Moo of course.

I agree with you, 100%
