Agree with you. In my experience, rebuilding a wall takes tools that a contractor or landscaper would hose down or pressure wash outside. And the effort of using and washing them would make it darn near impossible to forget.

These are not trowels and such. They would be shovels, a wheel barrow, mortar buckets and chisels, at a minimum. No contractor would wash them in a hotel. If a contractor had forgotten to wash such tools after a project, he/she would leave them alone and wash later, or if staying at a hotel, ask to use a garden hose connection.
Unless they needed to really clean them in a tub with bleach...

Tools or no tools, I have a feeling LE has a nice crisp photo of BM entering the Holiday Inn Express with a bag of some kind.

What's in the bag, BM?

If he says it's tools, I say it's not. (Unless he had some to clean.)

So.... what might be in the bag?

A baby blue bike helmet? Biking clothes? Bike shoes?
We can guess some important property papers.... (clue: they were addressed to BM, according to JP, not to Suzanne, not probably to both of them either)
A ruined cellphone?
A partial bottle of chlorine to pour down a hotel drain?

Nothing left to do but shower and catch some quick zzzzzz's?

I wish JP could go back to the Holiday Inn Express and go through more than the room trash.

I wonder what evidence may have met a dumpster...

I'm still thinking he thought the room would be cleaned before JP arrived.... but between Mother's Day and Covid, housekeeping may have prioritized cleaning only for changeovers, leaving his room untouched.

Bring on LS's timeline!!!

JMO

MOO. The entire hotel room, Broomfield job was BM’s Alibi while his wife disappeared off the face of the earth! BM setting the stage because he was nowhere around and had nothing to do with her disappearance, he couldn’t have, he was miles away!

I don’t think much nefarious went on in the hotel room, BM knew LE would check it. I’m sure BM made efforts to be seen on CCTV at the hotel and even around Broomfield. He needed his presence away from SM and the Puma Path home to be well documented for the entire day of May 10.

The chlorine smell could have been BM taking a Clorox shower himself to clean away any DNA of SM (wild guess on my part). He knew Puckett would be in the room for several days. And LE would be Looking for the mountain lion or random abductor, not checking Holiday Inn shower drains. All my crazy speculation on the room.
Edited typos.

The tools BM said he brought to the hotel room. What were they? Is that what he was using chlorine for? Where are they now? Because didn't his worker say there were no tools left in the room?
Had BM drawn a bath? Did he put chlorine/bleach in the bath to clean tools? Drying them might account for all the damp towels.
Did he not leave them for the worker because he was unsure if there was still evidence on them?
bbm
Hmm.
I've wondered that as well.

Great post, btw !!

Honestly, it might be not the newest one. A good example: about another condition, Borderline personality disorder, there was an interesting study linking the thinking pattern of borderline women with women on the spectrum... we don’t know what will surface about NPD. The same behavior, probably, has different underlying reasons in different people.

Borderline PD when severe, cause extreme fluctuation of emotions. They will either think you are the best, love you gushingly, or, they will hate you with fierceness. No in-between. In early years, docs thought these patients were borderline psychotic, hence the name.

You are right about the spectrum when it comes to the classification of personality disorders. There's a lot of overlapping of traits.

I have no idea what's up with BM, except that he is really angry and his reality doesn't seem to match the image that he tries to project.
This is all just my opinion.

I wonder if he realizes now that he shouldn't have said he saw her at 5 am Sunday morning. That sure messed up the timeline and made more detailed work for him. MOO MOO MOO
How so?
Sorry, I may have missed something.

  • #208
true that.
So what else might he have been carrying into
the Holiday Inn?
Clean clothes?
Clean shoes or boots?
Maybe he stole the chlorine from the hotel pool area? To douse his soiled clothes, shoes. ??
Then ditch them in some trash bin after he soaked them to remove evidence. ??
Ya know I've been thinking about this. The chlorine smell.

Didn't the Holiday Inn state there was no pool and no hotub cause of Covid? And state they don't use bleach to clean.

Since March I've been in 3 or 4 hotels. All the pools were drained. All hotubs were drained.

For myself I haven't been able to buy bleach until last month. Others may have found an odd Home Depot or some dollar store have it, but no one could get their hands on it, especially in May.

With the chlorine or bleach smell in that room, the perpetrator had to bring it himself from home.

Regarding the 'tools'.
I've suspected all along that BM will accuse JP
of stealing the 'tools'. You know, the guy who spent 9 yrs. in prison. Who you gonna believe?
He just hasn't said it publicly YET.
I expect if a tool was used to kill SM( which we do not know) it was buried with her or seperate IMO it will never be found .
If multiple tools were used in nefarious ways they are gone forever also. IMO if BM used bleach in the hotel room it was to clean his own body of evidence. I did notice his hair had bleached streaks in it, with that said he had highlights in other pics. in the T video something about his hair did not look right to me. Like it was over processed.JMHO

That story already has legs on some social media, unbelievable, huh?

My interpretation of “didn’t have tools for the job” JP statement and my 2cents meant the “tools” to repair the wall weren’t onsite at the repair job, the wall. I have no construction bkgrd, but I took it JP was talking about fill dirt, reinforcement steel, concrete, whatever would be needed specific to that job site. I could be totally off base. MOO

ETA Here’s the video of LS interview of JP. Start at the 1:40 mark for Puckett statements.

In laymen’s terms, there would be tools and there would be supplies. Not sure how pros would classify.

While I think it's very likely BM knew people in LE in the area from his volunteer firefighting, it doesn't mean they liked or respected him. A seasoned LE person could have seen right through his bluster. And aside from what we know now, regarding the fast response from LE, I do wonder if he wasn't at least on their radar in some way, for something, before. MOO
^^bbm

I've long believed this has been the situation between BM and Sheriff Spezze especially, and probably why BM did not make any effort to contact CCSO for a welfare check on SM, and went the bizarre, neighbor route to call in a missing person report.

Salida is a very small town where BM could have contacted the Sheriff or Undersheriff personally and voiced his concern that his daughters were not able to reach mom and SM wasn't responding to him either. (IMO, this would have very much been expected by LE in this situation).

BM could not go that route for a couple of reasons: first, he already knew where SM was, and second, after a couple of years of residency, he learned that Sheriff Spezze was no Barney Fife. Instead, he found a seasoned LE officer that could see right through BM.

With regards to whether BM wasn't at least on their radar in some way, for something before, I think it was probably more intuition. For example and as I mentioned above, BM not using his professional courtesy for inquiry about his loving wife would have to make one very, very suspicious. (We really don't know if BM had any communication with LE prior to arriving Salida, allegedly around 9 pm on Sunday).

IMO, even as a volunteer firefighter, I don't doubt that BM adopted the "us vs them" (fire vs police) attitude very early -- knowing his propensity to have blow-ups with others, possibly leading to complaints. IMO, BM was instinctively being proactive in this regard so that he could always have this defense in his pocket: CCSO doesn't like me -- they have it out for me...

Fast forward May 2020 and just imagine how this conditioning has been working for him with his family, friends, and especially his daughters! BM wasted no time in blaming CCSO for messing up the investigation and making him the fall guy.

Maybe pool chlorine was still available in stores though someone else with a pool back in Co may have had some on hand and made a special delivery to the HIE or met him somewhere to decant some into a smaller container to take in a luggage or overnight bag MOO

I still feel like BM was setting up the three men to take the fall for him. The room, the missing tools, mentioning JP's background.
I just don't see how that scenario would work?

Leaning away from premeditated and towards heat of passion. None of his actions seem well planned, more reactive than anything.

Andy has said "maybe things weren't honky dory" and "Suzanne may have said she wanted a divorce". His opinion of their marriage has really evolved over the last couple of weeks due to communication with her friend (I suspect).

This really makes me think that conversation could have been what put BM over the edge. Maybe he didn't like this friend, didn't want Suzanne talking to her. Feared the friend would help/support her if she left him and moved back to Indiana. All supposition on my part, but it could make sense.

The Job in Denver- I noted it was said to have been performed last fall, unknown when the failure occurred. It could have been fairly stressful for BM to have to go back and make that job good. For one thing it's not great for your business reputation and re-doing it would be on his own nickel. I can't make up my mind if the seeming last minute scramble was just the way he did business, or if he was preoccupied with cleaning up and disposing of Suzanne's body.

BM said he left SM sleeping at 5am. We have the hotel scenario which casts doubt on the story, and the bobcat incident. The most intriguing part of LE statement was “that SM was seen later than previously thought“. I had doubts about the neighbor saying she saw a man and a woman at the job site, as she did not give any description, tall short, walking towards car , etc., now I am not so sure. Maybe it was nobody, an employee, an accomplice, SM?

For some reason I think Barry's issues may be related to some kind of learning disorder. Over compensating for an undiagnosed disability. His word salads speak to that. MOO

In laymen’s terms, there would be tools and there would be supplies. Not sure how pros would classify.
Concrete, steel and dirt would be materials. Tools are tools, Bobcats and Trowel machines are equipment. Hand trowels are tools, I took JP's comment at face value...meaning hand tools. The materials would have been delivered that morning...or whenever the job was scheduled to start that day. Just MOO. Not criticizing anyone.

Yup, looking out window at 7,500 feet and completely white...

Wow...a little jealous here.

@Kimmer

When GM was interviewed he said that since their move in 2018, the had lost touch. They hadn't spoken with the girls etc...

It seems like there had been something that adversely impacted their relationship as a family. Possibly out of sight, out of mind?

AM also said he called and left voicemails over the years with BM (??) and never heard back.

Lastly, AM said they thought the girls hadn't reached because they were concerned their numbers were blocked. They found out that wasn't the case. Why would they think that?
If Barry is as controlling as they say, it’s possible he limited Suzanne’s cell phone and computer usage. He may have forbidden her to give out the number or have any contact with her family. It’s easy to look in from the outside and think you’d never go along with all that control but some women do. When they get fed up enough or feel the time is right and want to leave, men like this murder them rather than go through a divorce.

Someone mentioned Susan Powell upthread. Josh was very controlling. He limited Susan’s computer and cell time. Despite the fact that it was Susan who consistently worked full time and basically supported the family, he wouldn’t give her access to the bank account and barely gave her enough money to feed the kids. She often would call a friend to borrow hot dogs to feed the boys. He controlled every aspect of her life. She confided about different issues to a few different close friends but no one had the complete picture of how bad things really were. Susan was also very involved with her church and Josh hated that. Despite all that control and how miserable it made her, Susan stayed in the marriage. I think it was a combination of the pressure of her religious beliefs, that the wife should submit to the husband, and the wish for her kids having an intact family. She had seen an attorney and given a Josh a deadline to start participating in the marriage but he murdered her before they reached that deadline.

IMO there are a lot of similarities here. With Suzanne’s family out of the picture, he could exercise as much control as he wanted. I have a feeling the control issues here are going to be just as bad, if not worse, than what we’ve heard so far.

Nothing causes corrosion faster than chlorine! A screwdriver kept in a deck box also containing a tightly covered bucket of chlorine tabs, will start showing signs of corrosion within a week.

ETA: Liquid chlorine is a nightmare in terms of splashing and getting on everything IMO.

MOO

I wonder if someone would use liquid chlorine to both clean and simultaneously ruin a tool or tools, giving them an excuse to purchase a new version of that tool and throw out the old one. Perhaps purchased from a retailer such as Walmart that would be open on Mother’s Day? Moo.
