I would also like to add:

Here are 2 missing persons casing in Chaffee County that have transpired since SM went missing:

1. On May 29, a 4 year old female went missing from a residence, and emergency personnel responded immediately. 2 hours later, they found her, about a mile from where she disappeared. 4 year old found safe - Chaffee County Sheriff

2. On July 24, a 60 year old male did not return home from a hike. All of the same personnel was dispatched, and 5 days later, they found him deceased, on West Apostle Peak, so in rugged and steep terrain, while experiencing bad weather, as well.
Missing hiker located - Chaffee County Sheriff

While we might not appreciate or like their silence on this case, I have faith that they have very capable Search and Rescue/First Responder teams.

The main question remains: What lead them to discount BM's theories so soon after Suzanne's disappearance? I would say their expertise is what lead them to that conclusion. They knew from day 1 we were not dealing with just a "missing person."

This was the last statement on the May 29 press release:

"This is so important to recognize these many agencies who responded immediately as this once again confirms the commitment of our First Responder group to each other and to our community. A huge thank you!!!!!!"

They were obviously already feeling public heat, just a week after Suzanne went missing, and yet they have still remained silent thus far. That means something significant.

JMO.
I agree. I have always felt that there was a reason that CBI and FBI got involved so quickly. I am leaning towards some information given to the Sheriff's Office right from the get-go. Could the 911 caller, who was instructed by BM to call 911, have added some personal knowledge about the couples personal lives (as relayed confidently by SM) when reporting the incident? Did someone in the Sheriff's Office have knowledge of a DV incident that was never pursued? Was there an obvious mistake made that points directly to BM? Something set off an alarm right from the start! MOO

The discussion about firearm laws from state to state reminded me of when I was stationed at Fort Hood Texas in 75 and due to my rank was permitted to live off base. I had rented a small place and was moving in when a police car pulled up and an officer in kaki, mirrored sun glasses and a straw campaign hat got out and shuffled over. In a deep Southern draw he asked if I had any firearms, I told him I did and he proceeded to tell me that if anyone came on my property and threatened me with a weapon, to shoot 'em, call him and he would help drag the body into the house before taking pictures. "We don't put up with any nonsense around here's". I was somewhat shocked and it left an impression on me for years.

For someone who may be an uncleared person of interest in a possible murder, patrolling one's property seems ill-advised. We know he's a hunter but highlighting it in the midst of a search for his missing wife?

Idle threat?

Unveiled threat?

Or modus operandi.

Don't cross me or ....

Or what?

JMO

I agree. I'd also like to point out that AM was not the only person up there that day - there were over 60 (possibly 200) searchers. Others could have different views on the situation of the gun display. Me? I'd take it as a veiled threat and yes, I would be scared.

Was the idea to make it so that only certain people felt comfortable going near BM? Because AM was probably pretty sure that BM would not harm or molest him - after all, AM later expresses some kind of warm feeling toward BM. AM doesn't want BM to look like a villain here (for whatever reason).

It was supposed to play out as drama as BM intended. "I'm a tough guy with a gun, don't come on my property." He could have used what most people use (their words) and just warned people off. He wasn't going hunting, it wasn't hunting season.

He had the gun on his shoulder. He can carry that gun anywhere he wants in CO, but if others feel frightened they are entitled to call LE, who are then entitled to ask why the gun is being carried. "I just carry it with me everywhere" would be the best answer - if true.

At any rate, it was very bad optics for BM and, possibly, we have a hint that AM is somewhat afraid of BM too (made comments that mollified BM and made BM think he's still somehow part of the family - while going on youtube channels to make fairly incriminating statements against BM).

I'd be afraid of BM if my sister had gone missing under these circumstances, if BM had told different stores - some of which can't be true - and so on. I do know that in cases like this one, before an arrest is a very tense time and LE has its ways of assessing what to do.

I wonder what FBI found in Indiana on their latest excursion. I also wonder if all the forensics have come back.

Forgive me for posting something that I remember being discussed at length several threads ago, I’ve only been a spectator recently rather than a participant due to work pressures, although I am up to speed.

I recall several people questioning the note BM left with the employee at the market, how he wrote on two separate lines and his mixed use of lower case and capitals. IIRC it prompted people to question whether a handwriting analyser could chime in and I specifically mentioned that my step dad is a “manual worker” and writes in a similar way and that I probably wouldn’t look too much in to it.

My step dad sent me this note this morning as I was picking him and my mum some groceries up. Note the mixture of capitals and lower case. It reminded me of BM’s note. I truly think this is just common among manual workers who perhaps don’t have to write on a regular basis.

I have to admit I write lists like that too, and I'm an Engineer....

There is a high probability that note was dictated by BM, and written by the clerk. Think about it......where would a customer in a convenience store after hours locate a pen and a clean strip of cash register tape? IMO

The clerk said he wrote it.

Butala is a store manager at the market and watched Barry on May 12th around 8 p.m. write the note on the back of a receipt.

“He went to write down a description of maybe what she was wearing,” Butala said. “I just thought it was weird because he didn’t explain the color of her eyes were or her hair or anything about her like how tall she was or anything.”

And a store manager at the Poncha Market described an encounter with Suzanne’s husband, a few days after Suzanne’s disappearance was publicized.

“Somebody knocked on the window and it was Barry Morphew,” Tiffany Butala said.

I see @MassGuy and @Knox was already answering the note question with finding a source.
I just wanted to note that asking for paper and pen to write down something is the natural thing to do when someone want to convey something important to others. Unless they themselves are illiterate, which BM is not.

Besides, my own opinion is BM wouldn't let someone write down anything

BBM:

This is so damning.
Yet another nail to hammer home when it's time to bury him in the courtroom.

It's not the only instance where we've seen BM inexplicably omitting his MISSING WIFE from his BOLO list, either.

We also have the TD video, in which he advises TD, "The best thing you can do…find something…if you find anything, don't touch it. Take a picture of it."

He didn't instruct TD to be on the lookout for SM.

Which is more than a tad curious, given she was (ostensibly) the entire focus of the search efforts.

He provided neither the store manager nor TD with a physical description of SM, nor did he show either of them a picture of SM, even though he undoubtedly had them on his phone.

Apparently, his only concern was on recovering the Baby blue bike/helmet/biker clothing.

I mean, I'm sure the biking gear has some monetary value, but I wouldn't have put up 210k in reward $$$ for its safe return, personally.

That's just me, though.

Priorities.

I was just wondering if Salida is in the area of the fires or if this is the time of year that they start getting snow?

Soon winter will settle in and praying Suzanne will be found before then.

Farther away than BM’s trip to Broomfield luckily
Winter in the Arkansas River Valley where Sailda and Poncha Springs is different than just uphill from their home in Maysville going west towards Monarch Ski Area
The valley floor can have warm and dry while it snows and blows uphill
I always considered Salida to be in one of the “Banana Belts” as far as nasty winters go
The elevation gains make a huge difference in snowfall amounts

The fires are at least 2 hours North of Chaffee county.
Snow is predicted for Sunday into Monday but probably will warm back up quickly. IMO

The person had to get to the point where they threw the bike (they had to stand somewhere on the edge of the little gully or climb down into it). LE would notice right away that the bike appeared to have come from above - on the rim of the gully, it could not have come from somewhere else. They would look immediately for tire tracks. While doing that, they would also look for car tracks and foot prints.

The person who put the bike in the gully had to get near the gully somehow. If LE in fact never looked down at the crowd any where near the bike scene then that was a big error. Personally, I don't think that's the case at all.
Once a deputy saw a bime in a drop off, with no rider, repomod g to a missing person call, definitely would be shoddy to not examine the roadside dirt right off the bat.

It will start snowing very soon. It’s supposed to snow Sunday and Monday with lows of 13 F.

Oops sorry, I missed that Cindizzi gave the weather update.

Thanks @Hannah3105 . Your post and note just made me homesick! And better add mince to my shopping list too... ;)

I believe she specifically said he wrote it. I think LS reported it.
