I’ve been neglecting SM’s thread but I’m not seeing any new news - no arrest yet and not likely to be one as our @MassGuy predicted very early on - more months to wait I guess ?

I recall several people questioning the note BM left with the employee at the market, how he wrote on two separate lines and his mixed use of lower case and capitals. IIRC it prompted people to question whether a handwriting analyser could chime in and I specifically mentioned that my step dad is a “manual worker” and writes in a similar way and that I probably wouldn’t look too much in to it.

My step dad sent me this note this morning as I was picking him and my mum some groceries up. Note the mixture of capitals and lower case. It reminded me of BM’s note. I truly think this is just common among manual workers who perhaps don’t have to write on a regular basis.

My Dad writes in a similar fashion and I do as well (although substantially more legible than BM). I think it is more commonplace for folks who find themselves often writing instructions for others. My Dad was an accomplished finish carpenter and I've had experience doing large-scale design mock-ups. Both are things where you are needing others to follow a plan - Like landscaping. I never read too much into BM's use of [sub]caps.

Oh my gosh it’s great you’ve done this - @OldCop has also been working on this and mine is in the media thread which I haven’t visited in quite some time
Here is @OldCop
Suzanne Morphew Timeline as of 10/9/20

This timeline represents the period from 5/8/20-5/12/20, the dates which LE deemed most important regarding her disappearance. The information was compiled from CCSO press releases, MSM, permitted WS information such as PE broadcasts and the TD video, and with input from WS members. This is a floating timeline which is adjusted as new facts come to light.

Friday 5/8/20

Evening, exact time unknown:
-BM works at “beach area” at Salida dig site (MG)

Saturday 5/9/20

A.M.:
-BM & MG at Salida dig site. MG states BM was acting unusual. MG is supposed to rake out beach area that BM had worked on the night before. (MG). BM picked up MG (unverified) to bring her there.

11:00 a.m.:
-BM tells MG to go home. He tells her he has to go home to make wife “happy” and take her hiking or biking. (Did BM drop off MG?)

12:30 p.m. : (conflicting information, time not verified, could be later in the day, or even earlier)
-SM is talking with BFF on a message app or FB when suddenly she stops replying.

4:00 p.m.: New Info
-SM & BM are seen in a sandwich shop in Salida

Afternoon, exact time unknown:
-BM makes contact with JP and hires him for a Broomfield job on Sunday. According to JP, this was an in person meeting in Salida. Was this before or after SM and BM were in the sandwich shop?
-MG states that BM was seen shopping around town. (Unverified)

Evening, exact time unknown:
-SM’s bff receives texts that seem “unusual” from SM
-Friends of BM see SM appear in “Friend Suggestions” and “People You May Know” on their FB pages. (@Hoosierfan72)
-New Info: Friends of AM receive friend requests from SM

11:30 p.m.:
-A neighbor of a home being built in Salida hears heavy machinery running for about a half hour. BM has been hired to do prep work for a foundation pour at this site. This is the same site where he is also prepping the “beach area”.

Sunday 5/10/20

4:00 a.m. New Info
-According to MG, BM contacts her and asks her to get a crew together to head to Broomfield for the job. MG stated that BM sounded like he had the worst night of his life. ?
-It was first reported that BM was on the road driving to Broomfield when he began texting MG. Later reports said BM actually pulled up outside MG’s house and texted her from there.
-Was BM actually at/in MG’s House that morning at 4:00 a.m.?

5:00 a.m.: Conflicting Info
-BM told LE that he leaves SM sleeping and heads to a job in Broomfield, CO approximately 3 hours from his home in Maysville. The job allegedly consists of a repair to a wall that BM had completed the previous September and that had structural problems.

A.M. Exact time unknown:
-BM checks into the HIE in Broomfield.
-JP confirms Salida job with BM. (JP)

5:46 p.m.:
-SM is reported missing by a neighbor. SM’s daughters allegedly contacted her and said they were worried because they hadn’t been able to reach their mother. Exact details are unclear, but neighbor checked the house and did not find SM but noted her car was there. ETA THE FOLLOWING INFO SHOULD BE ATTRIBUTED TO PE NOT TD: The neighbor then allegedly contacted BM and he asked her to go back and check if her bike was there. The neighbor checked, returned home, and called BM on her landline and told him the bike was gone. BM asked her to call LE.

Approximately 6:00 p.m.:
-BM started home to Maysville. (TD)
-LE arrives at the Morphew home where they are met by the neighbor who reportedly told them that SM had not returned from a bike ride.
-LE begins a search. Dog teams from the prison and County SAR teams are called in. (CCSO)

After 6:00p.m.?: (Time not confirmed)
-JP, MG, and a third worker arrived at the HIE in Broomfield. It is not clear if all 3 travelled together. JP and MG both report that there was an intense smell of chlorine in the room and several wet towels on the floor. JP stated that it looked like someone had laid down on the bed, on top of the bedspread. MG stated that the bed looked like it had been slept in and remade.

Approximately 6:10 p.m.
-BM let workers know that he had left for a family emergency and that they were on their own. Workers allegedly found some of BM’s tools in a “hotel cart”. MG stated they looked like a bunch of tools from the back of BM’s truck. Both JP and MG indicated they had neither the correct tools nor the materials to do the job.

Sometime before 9:00 p.m. :
-LE allegedly finds SM’s bike down a hill about a quarter of a mile from her home. (Never verified by LE). There is no sign of SM. The Morphew home is allegedly sealed off.
-Friend(s) of BM arrive at search area (unverified)

Approximately 9:00 p.m.:
-BM arrives home.
-Friend(s) tell BM that SM’s bike was found and that LE mishandled the scene/evidence. (BM to TD)

(At some point, either Sunday night or Monday, volunteer firefighters were told not to participate in the official searches. BM told TD in a later video that his friend tried to stop LE from mishandling the evidence, which may have been the reason that they were not allowed to participate further.)

Monday 5/11/20

Time unknown:
-Concrete foundation is poured at the Salida dig site.

A.M.:
-Search resumes after overnight break. Over 100 LE are eventually involved including LE on foot, drones, divers, aircraft, SAR, Swift Water Rescue units, and various canines.
-BM calls MG crying and tells her SM is missing and that either a mountain lion got her or she was abducted. He stated they were going up the mountain to search. He tells MG and JP to stay in Broomfield and wait for supplies to be delivered for the job.

P.M.:
-AM arrives in town to help look for his sister, meets with BM and some friends, and they formulate a plan to search for SM the following day.

Tuesday 5/12/2020

A.M.:
-LE continue their search. No request for volunteers was made.
-BM, AM, and friends divide into teams to search. They were not allowed to search where LE was actively searching, but could cover area already searched. AM and BM we’re on separate teams. At one point, a member of AM’s team separated from the group. They backtracked to try to find him. He was later located back at the home where BM was staying. (On the following Thursday, 5/14/2020, a personal article, (now believed to be SM’s bike helmet), belonging to SM, was found about 20 yards from the trail where AM’s team was searching. Were they meant to find it? Was it placed there by the disappearing team member?)

Exact time unknown:
-MG, JP, and possibly one other person arrived back in Salida after no supplies were delivered to complete the job in Broomfield.
-MG was allegedly approached by two individuals connected to BM, TN and GD, who told her she would not be paid for her time in Broomfield because it would look like hush, hush, money. MG also implied that she was asked not to cooperate with LE or turn over her phone.

8:00 p.m.:
-BM was observed by an employee of the Poncha Market digging in a trash can. (The market had closed at 7:00 p.m.) Upon being questioned, BM states he is looking for a bike helmet.
-Shortly thereafter, BM taps on market window and when they let him in he stated that his wife was missing. When asked for a description he wrote a note on a crumbled receipt. The note said:

Baby Blue bike
helmet

Biking clothes

(No further description)

By Tuesday or Wednesday, CCSO has asked CBI and FBI for assistance.

That may be correct, which -- again --points to his need for a spokesman or counsel to assist him. That doesn't mean that he didn't have the legal right to keep others off of his property.

I think you are missing the point....BM obviously has the legal right to keep others off his property. "The others" who were out there, were busting their humps trying to find HIS wife! If BM were smart and a decent man/husband, he would have had come outside and offered everyone water, snacks and refreshments as a "thank you". Moreover, he could have made a statement as to how grateful he is that so many people care for his missing wife. JMO

I'll grant your point might be over my head....but....
I was there that weekend SM disappeared & been there a few times since....
The locals have huge color banners with SM on them & asking for justice...
These are 'native' folks who care out there in Chaffee county & salida in particular (which would be the Morphew's hub for business & shopping)
JMO
Just ETA that I have never been in any town with so many banners much less a walmart with a HUGE banner going along almost the entire storefront bringing to mind a missing person and asking for any help.....That was the case however in tiny Salida, CO asking for help in bringing justice to Suzanne Morphew

I’m curious how do we “know” BM was out on his property with a “gun shouldered” to meet the searchers? If true, I find the following interesting-
—No one got this on video? Seems someone would have thought to capture this event for a multitude of reasons.
—Surely if BM was going full Rambo on his property, or even menacing or brandishing, heck I think if even one of the searchers saw him with a weapon of any type, the authorities would have been called. Yet there was no such call or report that I am aware.

Exactly how much of this encounter is factual and what is embellished to add drama or impact.

I do not have the Unabomber’s IQ, but I must believe if BM was in any slight way “off” or brandished/menaced so much as a toothpick, I feel the searchers involved would certainly have used their senses and protected themselves from such threat by contacting the local police and or recording the behaviors. This is the world we live in.

My opinion is that this states the obvious, it didn’t happen the way it’s been told, it just makes a better story and follows the narrative. Whatever happened out there was apparently not unlawful, not among that group. Please. Think about it. Or we would all be watching the video and BM would be in the pokey. :p

This was also on Crime Online and I believe I heard it on PE as well.

Suzanne Morphew’s brother believes she was a victim of domestic abuse, says Barry Morphew threatened volunteer searchers with a gun on his shoulders | News Break

“Yesterday we ran into him as we cross that mountain top of where we found the evidence and he was out hanging trail cams and he had a shotgun on his shoulder and warned us not to go any further because we were about to enter private property,” he told the news station.

<modsnip>

If I may... a sharp-eared person noticed something on the TD video.
BM described LE , "...covering up evidence--err, um --" , then he swiftly changes tack and corrects himself to, "...messing up evidence..." ?
I listened to the video once and didn't care for a repeat; so I missed this.
Apologies if it's been covered previously.

Although BM does say the LE saw a mountain lion by the cars or vehicles.
So we know this story came from him and not LE.

I wish someone could get him to open up and defend himself some more.
Because we know he's not going to plead for Suzanne's return or even recovery.
Pathetic.
Imo.

AM says he was not alone. It would really destroy his credibility if he made that story up.

I see no reason to think AM is lying or that the reporters who printed it are lying, either.

If that story was made up, you could put money on Barry responding in the form of an interview. I think the only reason he did ultimately allow Andy’s team on his property, was the negative news stories of his behavior the previous day.

From what I gathered, he didn't let 'searchers' onto his property. I believe it was Andy. Don't even know if a dog was involved but might've been. How many acres is this property on? I'm thinking 3 or so.
It was a gesture, IMO.

@MassGuy - I see and read in the headline of this attached article that AM was threatened by BM, but I do not read that in the body of the article. The body of the article quoted Andy as saying coming across BM shouldering a gun. AM never used the words threaten, and having a gun shouldered in plain sight (open carry) especially on one’s own property in CO is absolutely legal. There was no perceived threat if BM was shouldering a gun, as is stated/quoted in the article.

if you hike/ ATV, fish, camp etc in CO you are quite likely to come across a person carrying a weapon on their person. Commonplace. I’ve seen it dozens of times, often assault rifles- if they are not drawn or brandished or specifically somehow directed to you, it’s not your business. I know this is difficult for non gun owners or anti gun people to comprehend- understandably. If you are not accustomed to firearms and come across someone shouldering an assault rifle it would be jarring, but it’s not a threat. Even if you “feel” it is. That’s your feeling- it’s not the way the laws are currently written in CO.

The headline of that article is either poorly edited or total clickbait- I choose the latter.

The misinformation/misleading information in this case is starting to pile high - gossip is abound. I loathe when this begins. One must be careful what they read and what they repeat -and the source, not everything is reliable. This is a great example. JMO. ;)
