Six months missing: Sheriff says they learn new information every day in Suzanne Morphew case

The task force assigned to this case will continue to investigate it, despite the challenges of the approaching winter months. Members of the task force are continuing to focus on Suzanne Morphew's social media presence, Spezze said. She kept in touch with her friends through those channels.

The sheriff's office has asked anybody who communicated with Suzanne Morphew around her disappearance or since — whether by Facebook, Instagram, Voxer, FaceTime or WhatsApp — to come forward through the tip line at 719-312-7530, even if they think the information they have is insignificant.

^ I found that interesting. Almost sounds as if they suspect a possibility of 'social media presence.' Seems interesting the way it is written.

I completely agree. I think they are looking for information in regards to what was going on in her marriage.
Exactly. JMO

"Last Seen." Ambiguous?
... Suzanne Morphew, a loving mother, devoted friend and wife, was last seen by her husband, Barry Morphew, on May 10, 2020...
sbm So per sheriff, SM was last seen by BM on May 10.
--- What evd does sheriff say confirms this? Does not say. Maybe BM's stmt, maybe more, IDK.
--- Was she alive at that time? Does not explicit say.
--- Does ^ leave open possibility SM was last seen by other person on May 10, at later time than BM saw her, or even seen by other person on May 11, 12, etc? Doubtful, but jm2cts.

Confirming that the last person to see her alive was none other than BLM...
sbm
--- Was SM alive at that time? Sheriff does not explicit say.
--- Was that the last time anyone saw her alive? Sheriff does not explicit say.

Just standing by w :rolleyes: nano-shears handy for splitting hairs :rolleyes: & considering def atty's possible argument.
{eta: clarification}

In the absence of a body, LE is looking to find Suzanne's VOICE!!!

Those who've spoken TO her can finally come forward safely to speak FOR her!

May justice be loud.

The sheriff has to say this, as providing an earlier date squarely points the finger at Barry.

They don’t want to confirm that he is a suspect.

Haha. It may be a turn signal, but it sounds just like a clock ticking in the video. Tick tock tick tock.
Yep !

"Whatcha gonna do... when they come for you..."
LE have just sent a signal-- they're not going to give up and go away !!

Something to consider, if Suzanne was in fact part of an online DV support group, formal or otherwise, fellow members of that group are also experiencing DV. Most victims of DV struggle to leave, for all the reasons....

Imagine being in such a group, because of an abusive, threatening spouse of your own, one who may HAVE NO IDEA you belong to such a group, have gone outside the marriage with secrets that were supposed to stay within the marriage (which is how DV works), another woman may fear coming forward BECAUSE her spouse could learn about HER activity in a group like that, which could have damaging and even deadly results.

I think Spezze is speaking EXACTLY to that. Call us, let us sort it out.

It's really a sad commentary we have so many people, often women and children, who live under fear, in their homes where they should feel safest.

Support systems are critical. It would appear that our Suzanne may have found one online.

Perhaps she was using Voxer to talk to the women from the DV group, and they know SM's stories about her own DV. That would also explain why they might be afraid to come forward- due to their own circumstances at home!

(@Megnut, we were thinking the same thing at the same time. Lol.)

Voxer Info from their website:

Voxer for Individuals

Are There Apps Like iMessage? | What is Voxer? | Voice Communication

SABBM:

End-to-End Encryption
Private Chats are end-to-end encrypted messages that can only be seen or heard by you and the receiver. While all Voxer messages are secure only the person who is receiving your message can listen, read, or see it. No one else. Not even us. A Private Chat is an opt-in feature that must be activated on a per chat basis. This allows for seamless cross-platform functionality.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is the difference between Voxer, and simply making a call from your cellphone? I get the walkie-talkie thing, but what is the benefit? No tracing? TIA

I would love to know whether or not Voxer is an app that's promoted within DV support groups to help ensure safety and confidentiality of comms b/t group members.

I'm thinking it wasn't her on those apps and they possibly know. Could this be a tactic to scare someone else to possibly come forward? Just a thought.

A couple of notable points to me:

# Zero mention of the 2 people who BM said saw SM on Sunday. I knew that was a lie bc he never named those 2 people who could have helped clear him of suspicion regarding her Sunday disappearance.

# Certainly no mention of the “bike ride”. Very telling in itself (again) for CCSO to not mention it, they know it never happened. A random perp wouldn’t go to the trouble of “staging a bike ride”. Points back to BM imho.

# CCSO definitely is planning on a trial - “something unlawful occurred, and as such we go about our investigation ensuring we are working within the rules of law and treating everything we learn as potential evidence for court.”

# This particular pr from CCSO seems to be a more personable message to the public, more humanizing and thoughtful towards SM speaking of her “staying in touch with friends she loved dearly.” (Thru the social media apps)

# Spezze also names the agencies his office is working closely with, mentioning the 11th Judicial District specifically along with CBI & FBI. Glad to see the 11th district brought up again.

Not sure who actually wrote this for CCSO (if Spezze didn’t) but it seems to have a slightly different tone than previous press releases.

All MOO by me. Looking Forward Soon to a Felony Friday (hopefully)

I saw three things in the press release:

1) CCSO appeal to those SM confided in (i.e., definitely want to know about her marriage);

2) Addressing social media chatter and public appeal to those still afraid to speak. Putting out the branch publically for the very first time that authorities can help you eliminate your fear as a reason not to come forward;

3) Appeal to those actually engaged in communication with SM on various platforms. This communication could also help shore up the timeline. I think limited cell coverage may be hindering generating contacts for the timeline.

Thanks for researching @Ontario Mom.

I think Voxer may be something helpful when you don't have cell phone service/coverage to leave a voice mail -- i.e., would enable sending your text as if voicemail.
We used to use Voxer at my school to communicate amongst staff. For example, if a student elopes from campus and we are following them and out of reach of our building WiFi it will still send the message. I know from others that the WiFi was not great at the Morphew home so maybe it was used for that same reason. Or SM used it on her bike rides where cell service was spotty.

I've never heard of Voxer, but it sounds like Suzanne found a way to communicate with her friends, and was not as cut off as I feared.

I hope they are preparing for court. Jmo
