I just looked up dermestid beetles. Taxidermists use them to clean up the flesh on racks. I did not know they work so fast.

When I saw LE asking people to come forward about social media interactions with her, my first thought was that she either spoke with people (either friends or strangers she confided in) online about the state of her relationship/what was happening inside the marriage, or she was talking to other men online. JMO.
I imagine they have the capacity to contact and trace each and every one of them already and I imagine they have done just that.
<modsnip> at the moment, as @10ofRods described so eloquently believes he is currently controlling the narrative and the outcome, most likely he believes he is holding all the cards.
Suppose he was to discover that there was an app she used that he never found, real or imaginary, it would be likely to provoke him, taking away some of that control he guards so carefully..
If his wife had a secret, that he hadn't uncovered, it could expose both him and the marriage... 'people she loved'...

SM Leaves Home w No Phone?
@borndem sbm ... Yes, I see your point and understand for some ppl, the cell is another appendage, so never without it, and they have multiple portable devices to charge it on the go. Phone, not w her? Bothers me too.

But if SM did really, truly, actually, factually go on a bike ride, a walk, or leave the house for whatever reason, maybe she looked at phone and said to herself,
"Uh-oh, battery is waaay down; signal out there is pretty dodgy; chances are if someone called me, I'd not get connected and ditto, if I need to call someone; and I'll be back in ten minutes (an hour or two, or whatever projected return would be), these clothes don't have a pocket to put phone in, so I'll just leave it on the charger, until I get back."

Not saying this happened or is likely, but after SM's disappearance, if her phone was found at home, possible???
As @MassGuy posted, we do not even know if LE located her phone.
MOO just waiting 15 minutes would charge the phone up enough for a bike ride.
Phone last signal being in house is probably, sadly just what seems.

Are people thinking that BM is so far removed from reality that he’ll be surprised if/when he is arrested? or just pretend to be surprised?

I'd imagine the procedure will have to be handled with extraordinary care.
(just in care he has a counter strategy)
Could be hairy enough...

I don't know BM's psyche but we sometimes see these guys constantly sizing up other men and voting themselves superior. Methinks Bthinks he's smarter than the average bear, and he may have incorrectly sized Spezzo. Bet he NEVER dreamed Spezzo would call in the big guns, and not while the wheels on the bike story were still spinning!

Patrick Frazee was STUNNED, that a missing person story would garner so much attention. "If I'd have known..."

I think BM overestimated his machismo, believing he had control of his home and of his community. IMO he was BANKING on the sheriff believing him.

He didn't.

I absolutely agree. I don’t think anyone banked on Spezzo calling in the top guys CBI and FBI as soon as he did. I think that was a shock to someone. I think that person might have thought “it was too soon”.

Hence the (paraphrased) "LE are ruining my life and my families' life..." statement.
Imo.

And that was his stance from the beginning.

"...I mean we was really upset that first night."

As one is with LE, when your wife is missing and they get started right away looking for your wife, hours ahead of you.

Hmmm

Do you suppose he called it a crime scene before LE did?

He seemed, even by his own report, more concerned with the way the bike looked than with looking for his WIFE!

That couldn't have played well with LE.

JMO

So succinct and so perceptive. Hats off.

Oh wow I never thought of her mountain biking in terms of her freedom from BM before or that he might resent it. I love it when you get me to see something in a new light. And didn’t BM say she rode her bike every day?! Yeah maybe to get away from you buddy! Very good thinking @10ofRods! I can totally see him angrily chucking her bike down the hill saying those things with his arms flying all around. I was going to comment on this earlier but was watching the Iron Bowl...Roll Tide Roll!!!

Suzanne’s murder might have been triggered by a perfect storm of psychological and financial triggers! The saddest part is she probably knew he had these issues that were getting worse and she may have been planning to leave him which as we know can be the most dangerous time.

I’m so glad you were able to recognize what he was doing and get away from your controlling ex...that sounds horrible and I’m sorry you had to experience that!

@Lilypad13...you made it come alive like a movie. I do think it was a perfect storm (which BM knew was coming and was heading straight into). I think she knew it was getting worse (at some level) but needed to believe/pretend it could get better.

I was very lucky to have a great deal of support (and I'm going to say that it was professional therapeutic support that made the difference). IME he knew before I did that I was going to leave and preparing to leave

I'm glad you got to watch something entertaining!!!

No, I think he’s expecting it. He’s acutely aware of the fact that law enforcement is looking squarely at him.

He’s not Letecia Stauch.

Yes. I think he had envisioned how this would go, and would have been absolutely horrified when his plot collapsed almost immediately.

It was “too soon,” because he had already been called on his lies, and the heat couldn’t have been hotter. He was flustered and scared.

It may be a somewhat reasonable expectation to believe that you can pull the wool over the eyes of a small law enforcement agency, but all bets are off when you staring down the barrel of state and federal law enforcement agencies.

Throw in the national attention this case received, and things couldn’t possibly have gone any worse.

Hate to see it :).

Genius was looking for the helmet and/or other items of Suzanne's in the trash can at Poncha Market, two days after she went missing. He wrote down three things for the store clerk to be watching out for.

LE found an "item" belonging to Suzanne near HWY 50 two days after Poncha Market. If not the helmet, phone, or an article of clothing, what else could the item be? Coincidence?

I think BM was disposing of evidence, when confronted at the trash cans.
The market had closed, and he took this opportunity to hide his doings.
He stated, he was looking for the helmet, when questioned.
He couldn't say, "I am hiding my works".

I'd expect that the disappearance of SM and, likely, foul play involved, is the reason his families' life is ruined. Not LE.

BM should have also looked at other Coloradans, too... John Ramsey, for example, had said in 2015 that his daughter's death and the case had cost him the entire family fortune, and complained of being unable to get a job.

He will be aaaaangry!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:, not so much surprised. IMO

I bet he thought- those guys know me, they're my buddies from the fire department... no way they would suspect me

BBM, I think this is going on now and starting to wear on him, as well as his "friends & Family" questioning him or starting to not want to be around him. It will be a long lonely cold winter in the mountains if he keeps the charade up.

I'm still checking in, anxiously awaiting an arrest. LE requesting info on any social media contact with Suzanne was interesting.

Without her remains they will need solid, bankable evidence of her death. I believe this is the holdup, but do think it's just a matter of time. BM is just not that smart IMO

I think this case is likely connected with other criminal investigations including in Indiana. Likely the CCSO realized that very early, reached out to the FBI and that is why the FBI agreed to join the investigation so early (like on day 3, I think). Value your thoughts as to why the FBI agreed to join so readily.
