There have been friends of Barry's' mentioned in the early days of Suzanne's vanishing.
We know for a fact that Barry said he had a friend who completed 400 tours of duty in the military overseas, and that BM also said a friend helped him cover 14 + square miles to look for Suzanne.
A search that not one person saw or was able to photograph.
So we don't know if the search was undertaken in the dark or if there were any more friends that assisted BM ?
And just a reminder to take what BM has said as questionable.
His saying that this happened in no way means it actually took place.
We only have his word for it and according to his employees that he took time to trash -- Barry cannot be trusted.
His treatment of his employee JP that he asked to work for him on a job -- and then didn't even provide tools nor equipment for -- is shameful behavior, but certainly not the least of BM's problems.
Imo.

That is my belief as well. In addition, I’d imagine BM was very familiar with that land and knew the trail systems well. There was also a full moon that night, which would allow someone to have no need for any type of headlights to see their way. And in the event that one of the few people that lived in Mayesville heard an ATV, I bet that isn’t even out of the ordinary and they wouldn’t think anything of it.
bbm
Yes, there was a bright, full moon that night.
Thanks for reminding us about that.

No need for ATV lights and everything completed in silence and under cover of night.
Which is why Suzanne has not been found.
Yet.
Time is ticking.

That is something I think is another red flag...how quickly he wanted to seize assets. Even asking her father so quickly was completely strange to me.

MOO
Exactly.

And the wording BM used was so inappropriate.
(paraphrased) "It looks like Suzanne's not coming back so I need you to sign over her assets for me ..."
Her dad refused.

Colorado woman woken from sleep by loud noises, sounds of ‘running’ at construction site that was focus of Suzanne Morphew search — the night before she went missing: Report

A woman who lives in the area where Colorado mother Suzanne Morphew went missing said she heard a prolonged, loud noise at a property connected to Suzanne’s husband the day before she was reported missing.

@OldCop Interesting, that she heard the noise the night before Suzanne was reported missing. Maybe premeditated?

My theory has been that BM left his phone home with SM’s phone in the wee hours of Sunday morning while he went out and disposed of the body. If he took an ATV down into the area SE of PP, (a location @Trackergd has felt would be a very viable disposal site), there may not have been GPS or cell data to pinpoint where exactly he was. And there are no homes or businesses in that area where there might be security cameras. There are hundreds of acres of land down there with no trails. He just had to say he was home with SM all night and stick to his story. It would be hard to prove otherwise. I think one of his mistakes was that he did take his truck to the Salida site either Friday or Saturday night and lied to LE about it.

I believe your theory is right. I don't think he took Suzanne's body very far from home. It makes sense, too, that TD found him in the river soaking wet. Close to home. What was he doing in the river I wonder.

Uh, he could be doing a lot of things. Panning for gold? Catching crawdads? Swimming? Hiding evidence?

That is the $1,000,000.00 question.

Who is claiming he said those exact words? I have seen something like that thrown out but where is this hearsay coming from?

I had thought about it being a red herring also, but I don’t believe that is the case for two reasons.
1). I don’t think BM was crafty enough to pull it off. He seemed to be in panic mode running around in the middle of the night.
2). The big one for me: time constraints. He had limited time to dispose of a body, get rid of evidence, clean up a crime scene. I don’t think he had an extra half hour just to go somewhere and make noise as a diversion.
This thought process has me feeling that something, I don’t know what exactly, connected to this case, went on at the Salida job site.
He either buried something in the beach area, (or somewhere else on that property), or he swapped off a Bobcat attachment because he needed a different type of attachment to dispose of a body/evidence or the attachment he already used had evidence on it and he wanted if off his own Bobcat.
BM admitted he told the police the wrong time he did a “mechanical thing” to his Bobcat. He chalked it up to the stress of his missing wife. I think he intentionally lied and LE confronted him with that lie based on cell or GPS data.
Interestingly, LE never provided information about catching him in a lie, it was BM himself that brought it up and mentioned the Bobcat. I think it was weighing on him that he screwed up.

Great post @OldCop thank you

I’ve inferred some think it’s still a strong possibility someone other than BM is responsible for disappearing Suzanne but don’t remember reading a full theory thereof, and wondering if someone who still feels it a strong possibility, could posit a theory where an intruder/stalker, or someone Suzanne knows, is responsible for disappearing her,
that factors in how it came to be they were in the PP home on Sunday after BM left for Broomfield, why they chucked SM’s bike down a ravine off the side of road, what they may have done with SM/her body, why LE would have got a search warrant to dig up the husband’s worksite, and how this person’s managed to stay under LE’s radar since.

I’m genuinely curious about thoughts on this.

TIA.

I trust trained canines in their pursuit of cadaver odors. Hence, I'm having difficulty reconciling SMs life ending at the family home after watching Day 4 of AMs organized search when the married couple who handle two trained dogs arrived from Missouri.

The canines were given full access to the exterior of the family home.

The first dog lingered but did not alert at a bush. The second dog ignored the bush. The cadaver dogs did not hit on anything surrounding the entire home including doorways.

What Did BM Say?

@Momofthreeboys Well, yes, hearsay in the sense that we/ gen public have not read a quote by MSM/WS approved source or heard those words directly from BM's mouth.*
Not hearsay:
Per Chris M., Barry called Gene (within 2 weeks of Suzanne's disappearance), and said "Gene, I loved your daughter. It doesn't look like she's coming back, and I need you to sign some papers."
BREAKING: Did Suzanne Morphew Hubby speak of missing wife in past tense just after disappearance?
@susiQ Thx for the link; I listened to beginning when Chris M spoke. Agreeing, Chris M. stated Gene stated that Barry said ^.
Hair Splitting Alert:
But being relayed thru Gene and Chris, there was opportunity for mishearing or unintentional misspeaking re BM's exact words.*

* But I'll take Mr. Gene M's (RIP) word and Chris M's word over BM's word,
;)so I'll put my hairsplitting scissors back in their proper drawer.;)

My sincere apologies! I’ve never been good at splitting hairs. ;) :p

There was some discussion here early on about how long you have after someone dies before the cadaver related scent is released. I don’t recall the exact time but I want to say it’s over an hour? So theoretically, a murder could have happened at the house, and if the body is contained in a cooler, removed from the house and disposed of, it would be possible that cadaver dogs wouldn’t find a scent at the home.

IF husband BM hired a killer, WHY could he have behaved like he did? Okay, he had to disguise the fact, he hired someone. On Sunday he had to be absent (HI Broomfield), also okay. What else had he to do, if he hired a killer?
