How would one get a bike to this spot to stage a crime? Would you have to walk or ride the bike to the spot? Seems like it would be a conspicuous activity.
IMO You ride it there in the middle of the night and walk home. You throw it in the back of your truck and toss it on your way to Denver. You don't have to be that creative to think on how to stage it. IMO she was dead before the 10th and hidden before the 10th.

Thank you! I'll relay that info.
Yes please get your SO to join.

My burning question is: what's a girl gotta do to get arrested in this town? ;)

That's interesting!

"Parsons noted that Barry Morphew was not quite as friendly as Suzanne, describing him as sometimes “standoffish.” Still, Parsons said he never noticed any trouble between the husband and wife.

CrimeOnline has viewed a message that was sent to members of the Morphew’s former church in Indiana, requesting prayers following the news of her disappearance. The message notes that Morphew’s bike was found “crashed,” and mentions that a mountain lion had been seen in the area where the bike was discovered.
...

Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze said during the first week of the search that investigators believed it was unlikely Morphew was the victim of an animal attack."

I don’t understand this either. It has nothing to do with COVID19. We live 6-8 hours from my family and my MIL lives in Europe. We never see each other for smaller holidays. We send gifts that arrive around Mother’s Day and call Mother’s Day morning to say Happy Mother’s Day. My MIL in Europe will sometimes give us the time to call because she’s a busy bee. If we didn’t hear from either mom by the end of the day we’d be frantic. Just like SM’s daughters.

When was the last time someone SPOKE to SM? Where was BM all day? No morning call? Afternoon, evening? SM spent Mother’s Day without one person saying Happy Mother’s Day to her on the phone? I know different people have different ways of celebrating but a phone call doesn’t seem like an extreme celebration.

BBM:

I think it's more likely than not that there were texts and/or phone calls by the daughters on Sunday wishing SM a happy MD.

I think those initial outreach attempts may have begun by late morning, and that there were subsequent attempts made that day.

Assuming that neither of them received any type of acknowledgment or response from her after several hours, they may have grown increasingly worried.

I don't believe that the first person they contacted when they couldn't get hold of SM was the neighbor.

JMO.

LE has not publicly released SM's call detail. Is it not a fact that SM had just recovered from cancer? Having a compromised immune system during a pandemic absolutely would be my concern if she were my mom. I was responding to a poster who found it suspicious that neither the daughters or their father was in the home when SM disappeared.

It is possible SM spoke to her daughters BEFORE her bike ride and told them she was going. It is possible they called much later and repeatedly got no answer and that's why they contacted the neighbor to check on her.

Someone is energetically 'pushing' the (possible) bike ride and an animal attack.
Why ?

It's clear that LE discounted the animal attack early on in the investigation, and that it's questionable if there was ever a bike ride to begin with.
What is going on ?

ITA - something was amiss IMO and covid doesn’t explain it

Another option: a random passerby could have "staged" it. They could have seen a bike in the ditch and arranged it where someone coming along would notice it. This random person could have assumed it dropped off a car and someone would certainly come looking for it. And, voilà, there it is.
You’d like to think they would have come forward, though.

I don't think most spouses social distanced from each other (we need a this & that smilie).
Unless one or the other actively had the virus, or there was high risk of someone working outside the home being infected and bringing it back.

My husband and I continued to work throughout the SIP order (essential business).
Was SM working outside the home? She is the one with a compromised immune system if the reports she had twice recovered from cancer are true.

There's an assumption being made that the daughter(s) only tried to reach their mother on that one afternoon (Mother's Day) and immediately became worried. However, there's no information about how many times they tried to reach SM, over how many days, if it was >1 day.

You're right. We don't know for sure if any of the family members were observing social distancing and self-isolation. I'm making an assumption based on the fact that everyone I know who has recovered from cancer is practicing social distancing and isolation because that is what their loved ones are insisting upon.
JMO

Gotcha. I would suggest using caution in making such an assumption. We've read that SM has recently gotten the "all clear" on a 2nd cancer diagnosis...forgive me moderators if this statement is not allowed here (I believe BM posted similar info on his FB account that others could read before he supposedly took it down recently). That means she's been cancer free for likely at least five years...and may not even be receiving any specific treatment at this point. We also don't know what type of cancer she had, which matters. Years back I had stage 1 papillary thyroid cancer, which has a high cure rate. I had a hard time even using the term "cancer" when discussing it with some people, because they hear that word and don't understand that there is such a wide range, with varying implications. In my situation, five years out, after getting the all-clear, I'd be no more/less cautious about Covid-19 than the next person who never got a cancer diagnosis.

I am not going to go back and source it but know I read the girls were camping possibly in Idaho.
I heard that too. But I haven’t heard it from the girls. I also heard they were in two separate States. So for me, it’s all rumor until we hear from them or from LE directly.

We really have so little to go on that’s confirmed by LE - no last date seen alive, no description of her , no confirmation of the bike being found (how does the chief know anyway?) it’s all just odd
JMO
I agree. My entire post was assumptions only based on LE's response since the 911 call as reported by MSM.

I somehow initially missed the link and origin for "bike crash" and "animal attack." I think it's unusual not only that it was immediately assumed that she vanished while cycling, but that it was assumed to be an animal attack.

The sheriff, as well as the bulletins, described a standard grid search covering all of the ground within a 2.5 miles radius of where she was last seen. A 2.5 mile radius creates a 5 miles circle. In this Google Earth Aerial view which I posted last week, there is a 2000 foot circle. As you can see, up the shoulder of the road, as well as literally every other reasonable location that I can imagine, was search intensely, following the grid pattern. Recently, when LE conducts a grid search, the searchers carry GPS transmitters and their path is logged on a topographic map. Every anomaly or random dog hit is marked, so that it can be investigated further if a need develops. IMO
Source of aerial view: Google Earth, generated entirely in GE

This reminds me. Since the FBI is involved, we can also assume they know to use Google analytics - which would track a fair number of cars as they traveled in the Monarch Pass area.

It would also reveal who, in the immediate vicinity, might be home with a wireless phone on, and whether the phone was stationary or being moved around. It would give a quick snapshot of the environment and of human activity over time (time of day when there are more cars on the road, etc).

The initial search warrant could have included getting such info from Google. And now that I think about it, I'm guessing that FBI has also traced, as far as possible, the positions of phones of people known to the Morphews, including any workers who may have been working alongside BLM.

There is a lot of rough terrain in the area. Should we assume that Suzanne always rode with her phone? I don’t walk the dog without a phone. I sometimes walk down a very deserted road late at night and always have my phone just in case. Sometimes I think about animals, sometimes I think about tripping in a pothole and breaking my leg. And that’s with people in my home who would miss me after 15 minutes and would know exactly where to look. Do most of you carry your cell for emergencies at all times when out alone? Could LE already know where she was that day, using her cell phone information? Does the family share their locations with each other?

I do not always take my cell phone when I run. I run just like I did in the 80s, with nothing. Not even a Walkman :D

But I live in suburbia, and run populated routes where I’m recognized.

If I were in the rural mountains, I’d carry a phone. I wonder how far the reception works.

I listened to it when it was on live.
The woman is not really a friend of SM or BM, she's more of an acquaintance. She went to school and was in the same grade as BM. Her level of friendship was saying "Hi" when she'd see them. She said she had a big crush on BM, as did many girls in school.
She was a FB friend of BM's but again, it was acquaintance level, not a close friend at all. She and SM were not connected on FB or any social media.

All the "info" she shared was 2nd to 4th hand and mostly speculation. Her info about a body was found, arrests made, was completely false. She doubled-down on it and insisted it was true because she trusted the people who told her (again 3rd hand).

I can't recommend this video.
I listened as well. 100% agree with you. All hearsay at best and zero insight.

I suppose one could drive the bike to the bridge, stop for a minute, and throw it over the bridge in the middle of the night without being seen.

Full moon was on May 7th so that might help with night vision for some amount of nights after the 7th. I can't find a weather link where it says if it was cloudy or not. I did see a photo for May 7th that showed it was snowy higher up in altitudes along the Monarch Pass so maybe the idea of SM going too far up the slopes near where she lived might not be something she'd do. Now comes the interesting part - what happens next? Does the husband decide it's time to sell the home, like Scott Peterson? What does he do now?

... or did he want to stay there all along and maybe someone else wanted to be closer to family elsewhere... hope this isn't against TOS. It's just speculation and Jmo.
