I do not pretend to be a person of science, so bear with me, as this might be a stupid question. The flu vaccine can work because we build up immunity to the virus. However, as we are seeing hints that you can be reinfected with COVID-19, how is a vaccine likely to even work?
Still wonder if there's a political reason US
did NOT use available WHO tests. ??
Did US cutoff relationship or donations to WHO?
There's a story behind this failure, IMO.
Just waiting for it to be exposed.

1/n The reason why we knew early about Seattle outbreak of #coronavirus was because of sentinel surveillance work by independent scientists. Such surveillance never got totally underway in other cities. So other U.S. hot spots may not be fully detected yet The race to unravel the United States’ biggest coronavirus outbreak

2/n The original goal was to implement sentinel surveillance in 5 cities to detect early spread. It was announced in testimony before Senate by HHS. It was expanded to also include Honolulu. Idea was to test indeterminate cases of flu like illness to see if it was #coronavirus.
3/n It was delayed by lack of diagnostic capability to test samples. When it was finally implemented, samples had to be sent to CDC lab which had limited capacity, meaning the surveillance effort was small. It was not expanded beyond original six cities.

Confirmed cases in the Netherlands have risen by 60 to 188, health officials have said after the country reported its first fatal case on Friday.
The National Institute for Public Health said that most of the cases could be traced back to people who had recently travelled, mostly from northern Italy. In 29 cases, the path of infection was still being investigated.
Elsewhere, in New South Wales, Australia, two more people have tested positive – bringing the day’s number to eight and the state’s total to 36 cases.
The two new cases are a man in his 60s who recently returned from Italy and a second man in his 40s who is a known close contact of a previously confirmed case.

I would hazard a guess we don’t know yet. Maybe it will take a series of vaccines to build up immunity to appropriate levels, maybe it will require a booster at yearly or longer intervals. I’m thinking about all the other vaccines we get in series in last our lifetime, or require boosters every 10 years or sooner for exposure (although tetanus is bacterial so not the best comparison) or they aren’t positive how long they last like the rabies vaccine I had, I would have to get titer tested to be sure it was still effective after a certain point. Just because I had rabies vaccine once doesn’t mean I’m good for rest of my life (must be careful catching strays).I do not pretend to be a person of science, so bear with me, as this might be a stupid question.
