I wanted to share a very local report from CT where one of the first COVID19 cases was announced of a 40-50 yo male from Wilton, CT who had traveled from CA. This individual is being treated in Danbury Hospital and is believed to have multiple children in Wilton Public Schools. Wilton Schools remain open with some activities curtailed.
No information is available (why not?) as to testing status of first COVID19 CT patient's family including children who are in school and information about their contact network.
I am sharing this article because I found the reactions from the local people interviewed fascinating given the scope of the global situation and what could be emerging on the East Coast as we speak. By way of background, Wilton is a typical NY suburb (54 miles by car and 1.25 hrs via train), approximately 32.3 miles from hotpot New Rochelle, NY and is located in Fairfield County (near towns such as Norwalk, New Canaan, Darien and Westport).

On its website, the school details a handwashing routine for pre-K through fifth-grade students for when they enter the school, eat lunch and use the bathroom.
The site also says there will be details later this week about a remote learning if the school should close, and on next week’s after school activities.

Scientists racing to find a coronavirus vaccine will infect volunteers with a strain of the deadly bug – for £3500 (A$6956).
Up to 24 people at a time will be paid to be infected with a less harmful form of COVID-19 at a lab in East London, as part of a global experiment.

They have toothbrushes for kids that play a tune and for adults that vibrate for the specific brushing time so a fun little bottle of soap should be easy!
Things I've noticed around my area … air filters are suddenly out of stock. I reckon folks are worried about the air quality getting pretty bad at some point.
You can't find a disposable glove at any of the major haunts around here, either, but Harbor Freight is a treasure trove for masks, gloves and other handy things. So think outside the box if your local places are out of everything.
My state officials are rather pathetic in their handling. There was a presser yesterday and the three that spoke, all had different things to say. Granted, we don't have any confirmed cases and only a small handful "being watched" but I'm positive it's only a matter of time.
A group of my neighbors (read that as folks in my community, because I'm rural and our neighbors are almost all at least a quarter mile away) booked a cruise last year that departs in a few weeks and they're still going. I think that's nuts, but that's just me.
And finally … we share 11 acres with my parents so I feel like we're safer. That may just be wishful thinking, but I'd rather be wishful, you know? It's almost planting time for our garden and I think I'm going to plant a little extra, just in case.
And one PS … we live in a 987 square foot house … with one bathroom. If one of us gets it, the other is doomed!
But at least we're massive germaphobes and keep things clean and neither of us licks doorknobs or sprays fluids when we sneeze or cough.

Workers who have a confirmed case of the virus will also receive two weeks of pay.

That's true. He also unveiled that state's own line of hand sanitizer made by prisoners to be provided to government agencies, schools, prisons and transit workers.
It even has a name "NYS CLEAN."

I just returned from my very nice mani and pedi. Techs always wear gloves but no masks today. One client talked about how she just returned from Key West and thinks the virus is being unnecessarily hyped. She seemed to know about the outbreak at the nursing home in Washington but not much else. Sounds like she didn't pay much attention to national news while she was in Florida. The other client besides me said nothing, and I asked everyone to stay well when I was leaving. I'm due for a haircut, too, but can wait another week or two.
