Agree. Also, US vs China wherein US will have lawsuits against the prisons galore. But if it does get rampant, how is the prison system supposed to screen/prevent/contain/deal with even in a best case scenario to prevent? I cannot even fathom how. Can anyone?

right? My sister and bil are both correctional officers in a maximum security prison.
I’ve got to see if they are being prepared for something like this.

What a mess.

That window closed awhile go unfortunately but good for them for trying to be positive here :p

MOO

They do believe that this virus can still be controlled and contained globally if everyone acts now. There is still hope, according to Dr. T and group. Dr. T does not believe that this window has already closed, but that it is narrowing. There is a difference. The number of international cases are still relatively low.

That's just goofing around, no reason to punish those students. They should be going after the ones engaging in fraternity hazing, etc.

When I was in college, this time of year there were groups taking road trips to Mardis Gras.

The Asian American Alliance disagrees. They have sent a letter to the university.

yes but how many people are carrying it without us knowing as it can take up to 24 days?

So we have people all over the world spreading it and they won’t even realize until it’s too late.

What??! I don’t understand. These tests are utterly unreliable IMO.

Coronavirus: Holland America MS Westerdam cruise passenger cleared

After Holland America's MS Westerdam passengers disembarked in Cambodia on Feb. 14, an 83-year-old American woman was said to have tested positive for coronavirus in Malaysia.

On Friday though, less than a week later, officials said she was clear of coronavirus.

Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said Friday at a press conference that the woman had received tests for coroanvirus repeatedly and the results came back negative, The Straits Times, The Star and the South China Morning Post all reported.

While she is clear of the virus, she is still in a hospital with symptoms.

Lots of epidemiologists and virologists on Twitter disagreeing with his opinion. In varying degrees of colorful euphemisms. Lots of wondering about when this becomes a pandemic....

I was expecting the student’s video to be a LOT worse. If it was only some Corona beers and a surgical mask it’s probably not worth making a huge fuss over.

And yes, perhaps some students I was around in college did worse things.... perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

First death in Italy

Twitter
Sorry if this has been discussed already, but it's worrisome that the virus is moving into the Mideast - so many of those countries don't have the capability to fight this kind of epidemic.

Coronavirus: window of containment 'narrowing' after Iran deaths, WHO warns

I also saw an earlier news story of the airline industry complaining of the negative impact of the virus on business. I really wish they would stop complaining about it. We need to do what's best for everyone to stop the spread of COVID 19

No test is 100% Sensitive and Specific. It’s not statistically possible.

This is especially true when you have a specimen that is not extremely well- controlled, or requires a difficult collection method.

Nasal and throat swabs are only as good as the collection is. That’s why they should be repeated if there is a high index of suspicion.

And it is a best practice to have an alternative means of correlation such as a blood antibody or antigen test, or a culture. At this time, I don’t believe any of these verification methods are available.
