Coronavirus COVID-19 - Global Health Pandemic #112

I haven’t tried this so this isn’t a recommendation. But I came across it and thought it was interesting.

When a virus is going to war on your body, a “flu bomb” might be the answer to blasting it out.

So says Australian alternative health care advocate Barbara O’Neill, whose recipe has gone viral down under — and beyond.

The easy-to-make mixture requires just seven ingredients, she promises that drinking it daily can shorten illnesses from the flu, a cold, a sinus infection or just about any respiratory illness.
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 drop eucalyptus oil or tea tree oil
  • cayenne pepper
  • juice of a lemon
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 cup hot water

I found this interesting. Data about Covid vs RSV. Looks like pretty close to the same guesstimate number of cases, but way less hospitalizations and deaths with RSV for the same approximate number of cases.

I wonder what the stats are on flu hospitalizatitons and deaths so far this year and if they are any higher this year than last year, for example.

What's cool about the data below is it's for the pretty much same window as my post about Covid vs RSV. :) Flu data has 2 additional weeks. Putting them all in 1 post so we're not having to scroll back and forth to compare the data.

WAY more flu illnesses and dr visits (2 wks wouldn't make that big of a different IMO.) On the upside... A lot less hospitalizations and deaths with flu as compared to Covid.

I think it is time for the public service announcements on tv and radio reminding people to wash their hands, like at the height of COVID.

I’ve been seeing more people in public restrooms at restaurants, airports, etc. just giving their hands a quick rinse. Or just walk out without washing hands at all. Gross.

At Costco last week I was in the restroom when a little girl, probably 8-10 years old, came out of a stall and ran directly out without washing her hands. I nearly said, “Wash your hands!!” This child is probably going to be picking up food samples next.

IMO this is a dangerous drink, because essential oils like tea tree oil should not be consumed, and combining things like lemon and cayenne pepper could burn the esophagus. JMO.

Biden officials ‘screamed’ and ‘cursed’ at Meta execs to take down vaccine posts, Mark Zuckerberg tells Joe Rogan

Biden administration officials phoned executives at Meta to “scream” and “curse” at them while demanding that they remove Facebook posts casting doubt on the coronavirus vaccine, Mark Zuckerberg said during a sit-down with Joe Rogan on Friday.

The article below addresses what yours did not, which makes me question The NYP article. What the article below is saying in a nutshell:
  • They asked FB to take down posts claiming that COVID-19 was a man-made
  • Post suggesting that vaccines were not safe
  • They also added warning labels that third-party fact-checkers had flagged as false or lacking context
The Biden administration responded with:

“When confronted with a deadly pandemic, this Administration encouraged responsible actions to protect public health and safety.”

I don't think any of those three were appropriate actions.

This is a very bad development- it will prevent important, vital health information from being communicated to the citizens of this country. I hope HHS has a plan and pushback--
There's no pushback possible from the agency itself.

This may not happen with a change in leadership. JMO
It's hard to say, I am sure they will do their due diligence before making a decision. After all, it was the leadership in 2020 that gave us the life-saving Moderna and Pfizer drugs during the Covid-19 pandemic that saved thousands and thousands of lives.
