One thing I’ve been doing a lot is going out of my way to wave and say hello to everyone I pass on the street. Especially mailmen and UPS, FedEx. And strangers. Whoever.

We need to connect and stay together.

Yes, people are a lot more talkative than in the past.

The higher up the chain is city management - who refuses to budge at this point.
Shows their true colors - I thing a tip to a local news reporter (or 2) might help. Thanks for the thought and support.
Call in sick, maybe they will be scared into doing the right thing.

So... need some thoughts/support. I work for a municipal community center that basically caters to the public and while my city refuses to shut down large groups - I told my supervisory today that if our person who works these events got sick - I would not work them (baby showers, bday parties, weddings, etc). I have a hubby who just recently had surgery and is fighting 2 infections and is high risk according to his home health nurse. He is also considered high risk due to his diabetes/heart issues...
I thought this was the best decision for me and my family. I have been doing what I need to do to limit exposure but yet my city employer is all about the numbers and refuses to cancel the events.
So, question to all because I feel like an a** for telling them I wouldn’t work a large event, what would you do?!? I have 2 kids under 6 and a hubby about to turn 50 - not quite in a hot spot but we have a jump in positive cases the last few days.
Your physical and mental health come first.....before anything. Without your health, what happens to your family?

In case anyone was wondering, my DH's test results for Corona Virus are still not back. He called a number we were given, left a message and we didn't hear anything back. So we still don't know anything. We're still sleeping in separate bedrooms tonight but we briefly broke isolation from one another today. We ran into each other in the hallway and instead of turning and going back inside my room so he could pass without coming near me, I told him I don't care if he has Covora Virus or not I wanted a hug. I'm bound to get CoV if he has it anyway. So we held each other for a few moments and he kissed the top of my head. Then I went and poured hand sanitizer on my head where he kissed me and washed my hands really well, as if that will work. LOL. I've got to laugh or I'll cry at this point.

The good news is that we are both feeling better today. Today was our 3rd day taking anti-malarial meds. I'm not sure if those meds are helping our bodies fight or if maybe we don't have the Corona Virus at all. Tomorrow (Thursday) will be one week since my DH's first symptoms of coughing started. My coughing started the next day (Last Friday). DH had a low-grade fever Sat, Sun, Mon and Tues, but no fever today. If this is some other bug that he wasn't tested for, he might be over it already. I've read the Corona Virus lasts for about 2 weeks. Therefore, I'm thinking either the meds and vitamins we are taking are helping OR we don't have Corona Virus yet. I'm leaning towards the idea that we probably don't have it.
LOL at sanitizing the kissed spot on your head. I laughed for a while.:D:D
I can't believe the test result is still unknown. That's not good.
Take good care of yourselves. Glad to hear you two are feeling better.

Gastro issues are rare with Covid-19.

It is most crucial to know the common symptoms: fever and a dry cough.

As the visualization (in the link below) shows, close to 90% of cases had a fever and two-thirds had a dry cough.

The third most common symptom was fatigue. Almost 40% of cases suffered from it.

‘Sputum production’ was experienced by every third person. Sputum is not saliva. It is a thick mucus which is coughed up from the lungs.

Of the 55,924 cases fewer than 1-in-5 (18.6%) experienced shortness of breath (‘dyspnoea’). An earlier study, reported that a much higher share (55%) of cases suffered from dyspnoea, but this was based on a much smaller number of cases (835 patients).

Many of the most common symptoms are shared with those of the common flu or cold. So it is also good to know which common symptoms of the common flu or the common cold are not symptoms of COVID-19. COVID-19 infection seems to rarely cause a runny nose.

Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) – Statistics and Research

Gastrointestinal symptoms should be a new focus for clinicians testing for novel coronavirus (COVID-19), according to 2 new papers published online in the journal Gastroenterology.

Although many clinicians were looking at fever and cough in patients, the new information detailed that gastrointestinal issues and stool samples could lead to a COVID-19 diagnosis.

In the first paper, investigators from Shanghai, China, sought to document the symptoms of the COVID-19. Although fever, dry cough, and dyspnea presented in most cases, they wanted to understand what impact the virus had on symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal discomfort. So far, those symptoms have varied among different study populations, the authors wrote.

Mild, asymptomatic or otherwise unrecognized infections may have driven the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus in the outbreak’s earliest days, according to modeling published Monday in the journal Science Undetected infections may have driven "rapid dissemination" of coronavirus, modeling shows
Two recent cases in South Jersey. A couple who traveled internationally both tested positive, male (59) was showing symptoms and female (57) still is not. He is hospitalized and she is home. They are both in medical profession (him in oncology/her in anesthesiology) and have been to several hospitals and surgery centers in the area before being tested. Spread spread..but not intentionally.

BTW they were not screened when returning from international travel.

Because this is a "novel coronavirus" i.e. a new coronavirus - no one has immunity to it.

Henry and I were speaking only about the population of Wuhan - with people rejoicing that they have no new cases, well, that's not because there's immunity. And it's not "new" to them - they are at the epicenter. By now, many of them do in fact have immunity.

Frankly if they had been screened, it would probably not have been effective.

Are their statistics anywhere showing if all infected people had recently been overseas or in contact with someone who had been overseas?

The first case in my immediate area was an elderly woman who had not traveled and had no contact with travelers. And now it is up to 40+ cases in my area, due to close proximity to her.
