My husband suggested he could give me a buzz cut like he wears.

I declined the offer, but if he asks again in 8 weeks.....?

But, seriously, I do sorry about all the salon workers. There is no way to do their work except close up.

We have an acquaintance who is a massage therapist, and is now living on savings since nobody is booking a session and probably won't for a long time.

I hate to say this, but it's super easy to cut your hair at home. Well, depending on your hairstyle. Jmo

Wired Magazine Just Published Info about how long COVID19 lasts on surfaces - quarantine your mail or spray with lysol and WEAR GLOVES - UP TO 24 Hrs on Cardboard:

WIRED on Instagram: “By now, let’s hope you’re safely ensconced at home—going a little stir-crazy, perhaps, but doing your part to “flatten the curve.” But…”

The same can be said for anything food etc you buy from a store then? people have touched every item to put them on shelves, customers may have picked and put things back. etc are we supposed to start cleaning every single item. This is getting insane.:eek:

Here's a COVID19 tracking site that was developed and is maintained by a 17 year-old in Washington State:

New York is finally able to ramp testing after significant delays in being able to get its academic labs into the crisis. Now they are running a high positivity rate as they test suspected cases and catch up. New York reports 22,000 people tested to date, 7,000 tested yesterday.

What kills me is how many feel “exempt” from guidelines/rules. After hair salons were ordered closed, several contacted our governor asking if they can remain open if only one client is in the salon at a time or if doing a “special” customer. WTH?

Sorry, Honey, but elitism isn't gonna work in these times. Assuming the governor's office said no.

It is getting real for some ppl now here in Oregon. Governor ordered last night that veterinarians, doctor offices and dentists cancel all non emergency appts so medical supplies that are dwindling fast like gloves can be used in hospitals fighting this virus. Our state capital fairgrounds in Salem, is building a quick hospital for patients . More cases are popping up and ppl are scrambling with the current reality.

Just heard that the President is making available immediately anti malaria drugs. It may not work. But he's hopeful it does.

Who is our member that has been taking this?

Someone just posted in here the other day a link to a leader in Serbia saying the EU had effectively abandoned them. That wasn't fake news. That was the truth. My husband and I were talking about it at the time. I was under the impression that the EU wasn't actually providing support to Italy either that essentially it was every country for itself?

Jmo I wouldn’t expect the eu to help a non eu nation/country, serbia answers to russia.

My last haircut was 8 weeks ago yesterday, but I am going to wait until the end of the month to see my stylist. As long as I'm able to pull my hair into a little ponytail, I can live with it not being perfect.

While watching TV yesterday, I noticed a lot of commercials for Massage Envy and wondered, WTH? I'm sure business is slow, but I think people can live without regular massages during this major health crisis.

Lampasas venue says they'll still have weddings, says COVID-19 'political tactic' by media
From the article:
"There have only been 69 cases "reportedly" in Texas. Not all have died. Please use some common sense folks. If you are sick, then stay home. If you are healthy, attend the wedding. Just be smart folks! Be wise. Take time to actually learn about this virus. This has been around for many years. I, truly feel this is another political tactic with the media. (My opinion)."

Totally selfish and irresponsible and stupid. MOO
The level of stupidity is astounding. No this has not been around for years. What part of novel escapes your level of comprehension? Here's a clue Novel means new. Oh the irony " Be smart folks" Face Palm. MOO.

Testing update: DH reached an actual person on the phone today who told him his CoV19 test results were still not in and that they would take 5-7 business days to complete. OMG! Does this mean the testing numbers we are seeing are behind the actual cases tested by an entire week? It shouldn't take that long to test! And those are just the people who are able to convince of the need for a test by having symptoms and testing negative for everything else first! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!:eek:o_O:(

MOO.........

Yes, of course it means our numbers are inaccurate. Labs are overwhelmed. By mid-February, we ought to have been gearing up for this. Our leaders did not want to listen to experts.

It seems to me, judging by the new cases that are getting tested, that hundreds of thousands have CoV19 in the US. Many have no symptoms.

At least one pathologist has died. My understanding is that they are using DNA to test for the virus, and many places do not have readily available means of speeding that up. Major hospitals can get this done for inpatients very quickly (within hours), but the rest of us have to wait.

I bet we're even more than a week behind, in testing

NYC

At Bellevue hospital in NYC, there is now a tent for drive through testing (or walk through, since this is NYC and no one has cars).

I cancelled my appt a few weeks ago. My highlights and trim can wait till things clear up.
